I brought in my dad's vintage seiko watch which was absolutely filthy after sitting around for ages and they did a pristine job of cleaning it. I also wanted the battery changed my unfortunately the inside was corroded but they offered me several solutions for that as well and tried to see if seiko had any parts to replace the inside so they could change the battery. Pricing is VERY reasonable and they are very quick and efficient. I would definitely recommend my loved ones and friends to go to midtown jewelers. read more

I had a ring that the setting was loose but needed it tightened up. Came on a Saturday around lunchtime so you know it's going to be busy. I handed the jeweler my ring and she fixed it in about 2 minutes free of charge! Great service and I also took a look at some rings and jewelry while there and all the prices were reasonable. I don't know how this place can call itself a jeweler if they can't even replace the battery in a quartz watch without damaging it. I just went in to get the battery replaced and the idiot behind the counter put multiple DEEP scratches in my dad's old chronograph (both case and case back) trying to pry open the back with A POCKETKNIFE. The watch wasn't particularly valuable which is probably why she didn't care but it managed to go 30 years without getting any major scratches UNTIL I took it to Midtown Jewelers. Midtown Jewelers resized my ring day of at a reasonable cost. I am very happy with the quality and result of their work.

Be careful. We brought in a normal quartz wristwatch to have a battery put in. Not highly valuable monetarily, but it was passed down and sentimental. The watch had lasted since 1989, virtually unscathed. This was undone within a matter of minutes. Instead of using the proper tool to remove the case back and case, she dug in with a micro screwdriver--causing scratches along the back, destroying any water resistance it had as well. We weren't consulted if this was okay. Careless, sloppy work for such a simple task. If the correct tools weren't available, taking the watch elsewhere would have been a better alternative. What's the point? Someone's watch they cared about was damaged unnecessarily. Whether a timepiece cost $200 or $2,000 should not affect the quality of care put forth. ETA: I simply shared our experience. I received a message from the owner and provided the receipt and details from that visit. We have photos. Should I post those as well? We support small business, which is why we did not do a chargeback or pursue this further, because what would it change? We did not want to argue after the fact. read more

That shop brought it back out saying it was broken and could not be fixed and rudely asked me to leave instead of evaluating it. I've taken my jewelry to Midtown Jewelers for years. I have a nice collection of chains, bracelets, rings, crosses, and watches that are both of great value and low value. They are all very valuable to me for one reason or another. I've had small repairs done as well as larger repairs and everything is always top notch and pricing is more than reasonable. None of my finer watches have any damage when they've come back from service, cleaning, or adjustment. None of my rings, chains, or bracelets have either. You can trust in Midtown jewelers for their service and their quality. I wouldn't trust this collection to just anyone. Nothing but great experiences here and highly recommended! read more

Just got my wrist watch repaired when it started moving erratically after another shop replaced the battery. They immediately diagnosed that the wrong battery was installed (!) - replaces the battery, recalibrated it, and had it back to me in two days after quality checking it overnight. Attention: NO WATCH REPAIR. Overall, extremely disappointed. Our visit was for a battery replacement and leather watchband replacement. We had this antique family heirloom "repaired". Instead, the watch immediately incurred further damage after violent hammering to the back and the crystal was broken. At first, the man did not want to accept responsibility for these damages and wanted to charge us for additional repairs. Upon arriving, we found the watch "repaired" with a plastic cover instead of crystal. After wearing the watch for 1 week, the entire thing fell apart. We followed up by calling back to give them another shot and were told that they had other clients to take care of. Combination of disappointing artisanship and poor customer relations. I hope they will take this feedback into account and turn things around for future customers. read more

Jim, one of the owners, repaired a broken watch link (that I had been putting off for over a year...) in just a few minutes, and he also replaced a battery in a different watch. All in, I spent $23, and Jim also assured me I wouldn't be charged in the future if one of the links he repaired broke again. She suggested I should try it smaller if I wasn't sure, so she resized again. After trying it on, it didn't felt right and she resized it for a third time.
