BUYER BEWARE! Worthmore Jewelers Decatur are scam artists. They will upsell their jewelry which they know are worthless. This claim is not alleged nor untested. I purchased a bracelet for $600 in good faith, which was a birthday gift to myself. I wanted to make sure that the piece was genuine, after spending my hard earned money. I had it appraised by not just one appraiser but three. The bracelet that I spent $600 on was only worth $25. I don't know but $600 is not something you could just forget and say lesson learned. I went back to Worthmore told them what I had learned from (3) appraisers and kindly requested my money back. The salesperson was rude but eventually yielded. Although they said they refunded the money, I have yet to receive the funds. My financial institution had put my account on hold due to fraudulent attempts of access. In so doing when Worthmore claimed they returned the money, my bank had suspended my account while pursuing the fraudulent attempts. My bank informed me that any attempts to deposit money into my account at the time would not be accepted during their investigation. They assured me that the money from Worthmore would have been returned to them. The salesperson insisted that they did not receive the returned money. Hence, now I am out $600 for a piece of jewelry worth $25. I have requested the funds returned by either check, cash or to another bank account. The salesperson refuses to help reclaim my money in any way. This is not how any respectable vendor stands behind the quality of their products nor is this any indication of good customer service. Let's not also forget that the piece I was sold was actually worthless. Do not trust nor purchase from Worthmore Jewelers Decatur. I am only asking for my money to be returned. I don't think that's unreasonable to ask from a vendor that truly believes in doing what's right by their customers. August 1st I went into Worthmore Jewelers Decatur location for a name chain. I was told since it would be a custom piece I would have to put down a $500 deposit. An employee named Crow said he would have to find vendors so the piece could be made. I really wanted it done by my birthday 8/28 because it was supposed to be a birthday gift to myself. I was told that wasnt possible because it would take 5 weeks or more for this to be made. He said he was try to get it done sooner. Even though I was reluctant I wanted to trust the process. I put the deposit down. 2 weeks past and i didnt hear anything. No text no call. So i text Crow and he said he hasn't found a vendor yet. Another week later i decided to go into Worthmore Jewelers to get an update and he still hadnt found a render yet. So now we go over pricing for this name chain and he was talking anywhere from $1500-$3000! Ridiculous for a name chain btw. Ridiculous! At this point since i already put the deposit down I say just get a chain at this point. We are now at the end of august at this point and still no product. He finds a chain that is $619 plus tax! So now i have to put down more money on a chain that wasnt in the plans? No. I asked an item that is already in the store worth the deposit that i put down over 3 weeks ago. They gave me 2 options. A pair of earrings with lab made diamonds and a bracelet with the initial A on it which cost an additionial $103!! I picked the bracelet. After i left i took it to a few appraisals and pawn shops just to see if it was really worth the $600 i just paid for it and guess what!? NOPE IT WAS WORTH $25!!!! I went back to Worthmore Jewelers and told them i want my money back!! After going back there 3 more times then they decide to refund me but wait theres more! They refund me the money back to the (discover) card i paid with. 3 days later my account gets closed for fraud and i see no money!! I never got my refund! These people are scammers!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT! What they are doing is ILLEGAL AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!! read more

Excellent Service - Quality - Value My fiancé and I were extremely impressed with the level of service that we received from Laura Foster at WorthmoreJewelers, and felt compelled to share our experience with others.  In the course of shopping for our engagement and wedding rings, it was our desire to buy locally at a non-chain jewelry store.  Just for comparison sake, we also visited a big chain jewelry retailer that operates under several retail names.  The difference in the way were treated, the value and quality of the gems that we were shown, and the customer friendly policies at Worthmore verses the other jewelers that we visited was amazing to us. While the other locations were very pleasant, the level of communication and follow-up after our visits was unacceptable, and in many cases we found ourselves having to call them and prod them into action.  When initially meeting with us, Laura took the time to clearly listen to what my fiancé had envisioned, and offered some excellent suggestions for the design of the rings and settings.  After our meeting, she immediately followed up with a rendering, and a list of diamonds and gems that were within the parameters that we had discussed for quality, size, and price.  When one of the diamonds that we requested appeared that it would not arrive on time, Laura took it upon herself to bring in an additional diamond of a higher quality for our viewing, and got permission from her manager to keep the price at the same level as the tardy diamond.  Furthermore, knowing what we were looking for, Laura personally selected the perfect rubies for us to view.  Throughout our selection process, she was constantly updating us on the status in the search for our perfect gems.  Laura's focused concern and attention to detail made us feel like we were her only customer. In addition to the excellent service that we received, I was especially appreciative of Wothmore's policies.  Every other jeweler that we visited required that I place a deposit on any gems that were being brought in for our viewing.  In the case of the large chain location, I was told that I would only have 24 hours to accept or reject the gems before I would own them permanently.  This created both pressure and stress.  At Worthmore, we were never asked for a dime to have gems brought in for viewing. With Laura's assistance my fiancé was able to design her perfect engagement ring and wedding bands. We now await the custom building of our rings, and are anxious to show them to the world as a beautiful symbol of our eternal love for one another. Firstly, let me just say that the atmosphere of the store is incredibly welcoming and warm. From the minute I stepped foot into the building, I felt at ease and excited to inquire about a ring. As someone that doesn't feel that she's going to get married anytime soon, I took it upon myself to purchase a ring by me, for me. I'm not going to lie, I was anxious saying that to the representative that assisted me, Laura Foster, but I was quickly convinced that my fear was irrational. Laura made me feel so at ease and comfortable, even when I made the decision to get a band instead of a traditional "woman's" ring. Her knowledge about different metals they use for rings, different types of inserts, and even engraving on the interior of the ring was astounding. I felt that she was more than capable to help me make an informed decision. She spent time researching different woods (they have SO MANY unique ones to choose from!) for the insert on my ring and even ran it through their generator so that I could see what it would look like before I purchased anything. She sized my hand and let me try on the sample bands of different metals to figure out which one felt "right" to me. I had never noticed the minor nuances within the different types of metals. How cool! I live outside of the state, which was a concern for me at first, but she assured me that it was perfectly okay to ship the ring to me. I work for the USPS and am partial to ensuring delivery gets sent through my company whenever I have something shipped to me, and although Worthmore typically doesn't use USPS to ship, Laura spent the time while I was there to confer with her manager and figured out a way to send it through my company. Even when it seemed my request to ship through USPS was not possible, she was able to articulate the reasons why it may not be. It may seem so minor to others, but I'm so deeply appreciative of this gesture. Laura really took every single request I had to heart and was able to fulfill those requests. To say I left satisfied is a complete understatement. Although I was in town for a business trip, I will surely be returning so long as I have an associate such as Laura available, even if it means traveling with my future partner to get wedding rings done! Today I received my ring in the mail and I am beyond impressed and in love with how it turned out. The time for it to make it all the way to Illinois from Georgia was exciting on its own, but then to put the ring on my hand was ethereal. I never, ever have an occasion to go to a jewelry store... but early this year I started shopping for an engagement ring. I began by putting the word out in my Decatur neighborhood's community Facebook page - and a number of people mentioned Worthmore on the downtown Square. I must have walked by there a million times over the years but, like I said, these sorts of things have never been on my radar until recently. I had planned to stop by a couple of places recommended in replies to my FB post but (thankfully) decided to start as local as possible, with Worthmore. I'd been gathering cursory online information on ring stuff, trying to figure out where to begin etc. - so with those foggy tendrils of beginner knowledge I walked in to what turned out to be a much larger space than expected from the unassuming store front. Folks were immediately friendly, and I laid it on that I was a complete novice with ring shopping etc. - and they took me by the proverbial hand and started my education. The quality and selection were fantastic, and my salesperson Laura was exceptionally knowledgeable from the get-go - to the point that, walking out of my first visit, I decided to stop back by Worthmore before going to see anyone else. Well, on the second visit we discussed stones (sapphires, to be exact) more and I continued my perusing and narrowing - and by the time I left again (I circle a bunch before any major purchase) I had found one I really liked... The ring ("setting"?) originally came with a diamond in it but Laura mentioned they could modify it as needed to get a sapphire in - which was cool news! - and so she continued with suggesting we find the right stone first - so a week and a half later a few had arrived - and when I walked in to check them out the staff had already chosen their favorite (cool!) - which was indeed the best - so, long story [slightly less long] I wound up with this *absolutely lovely engagement ring* - a customized work of art that exceeded my expectations tenfold and more. Worthmore also makes a point of using high-quality, responsibly sourced materials - no "blood diamonds" etc., which was of primary importance to me from the beginning - and I couldn't be happier with the entire experience start to finish. read more

I put one star because there's not a 0 star option. My daughter had and is still having a bad experience with this jewelery store. My daughter put down a $500 deposit for a name chain back in August. After a month, nothing was done, so she decided to ask for the deposit back. They didn't want to give her a refund, they offered her another piece of jewelry. She picked a gold and diamond bracelet, which she had to add an additional $100 towards. My daughter took it to two other jewelery store and a pawn shop to get it appraised. She was told that the bracelet wasn't worth anything near what she paid for it. It was gold filled and the diamond were just tiny pieces. She was told by 3 different people. One jeweler gave her his card and told her to call him and he will speak with them. She went back and asked for her money back because she was very upset by this and felt disrespected. The female manager (don't know her name, but she knows who she is) gave my daughter a difficult time. She was rude and very very nasty! After several trips, it was credited back. Unfortunately someone tried to use my daugher's checking account, so the account had to be closed, including her debit card, due to fraud and a new one opened. When it was closed, the money was sent back to the jewelry store. It's been almost 2 months and they will not refund my daughter the $600. The bank verified that it was sent back to the store. They're refusing to give my daughter back her $600. I'm not saying it's a racial thing, but I'm leaning towards that. It could also be because my daughter is young they think they can take advantage of her. My daughter is a young black woman who gets up everyday and works hard. She wants her $600 back so she can move one. She went to this store because she saw the good reviews. Looking at the reviews myself, they were done by people who do not look like us. I have know Harris and Geri, and the Worthmore family for many years now and can heartily and confidently recommend them not only for those looking for creative and personally selected jewelry; but for equally one-of-a-kind pieces of art as well. What I love about Worthmore Jewelers is the professionalism and service I receive. These people not only know jewelry, from the basics of metals and stones to the intricacies of design, but the nuances as well. Style is a strong suit at Worthmore. And while I have the utmost confidence and respect for all I have worked with there it is worth mentioning my last visit in which Jonathan Paz was assisting me. It was a covert operation, I was ostensibly coming in to pick up a repair to a bracelet with my girlfriend, whose birthday was rapidly approaching. In fact I was using the opportunity to get some ideas of what she might like in terms of particular peices (bracelets, bangles, earrings, etc.) and styles. I let Jonathan know what I was hoping to determine, and like a pro, he was able to whisk her from counter to counter, casually talking about different peices while determining where her interests lay. Immensely helpful. In closing, Worthmore is not a big corporate chain, megastore, or other jewelry mill where they're trying to bring in as many people as possible with constant advertising. As a matter of fact their advertising says an awful lot about their ethos. Always cutting, tongue-in-cheek, to the point and plain to see. You find yourself looking forward to what their next ad will be. The greatest benefit I feel is knowing that Geri, Harris, Peggy, and the rest of the Worthmore family are always available for any questions, concerns, idle chat. We came to Worthmore to have my fiancé's finger sized. We were planning to order a ring for him but ended up purchasing his ring that day from Worthmore. Laura helped us. She was very knowledgeable about the rings and extremely patient. The ring we ended up with was considerably less than the one we had saved for and was more appropriate for my fiancé's lifestyle. With the money we saved we were also able to have my engagement ring repaired. My ring is very, very old and had broken a few months prior. We had it repaired at a different jewelry store but it came back in bad shape and didn't really resemble my ring anymore. Laura took a look at the ring, took some photos and had me email her some photos of the ring in it's original state. She sent them to the jeweler to determine whether it could be restored. He wanted to see it in person. I dropped the ring off with Laura, she cleaned it and mapped my diamond before accepting it. That never happened to me before. My ring stayed with Worthmore for exactly three weeks. I picked it up the day it was ready. I was terrified because of my experience with the other jewelry store, but I was more than relieved when handed my ring. It was gorgeous. Fully-restored to it's 100-year-old glory! Also to be noted, Laura was in constant communication with us throughout the process. She was reassuring and helpful. She even registered my fiancé's ring for us before I picked it up so that I wouldn't have to worry about it. Everyone else I spoke with in the store and on the phone was helpful and professional. To put this into perspective, this is my first Yelp review. In all the shopping, dining, etc I've experienced and used Yelp to guide my choices this is the first time I've found myself actually reviewing a business. I visited Jonathan with my (at the time) girlfriend, Morgan, to hopefully get her to scope out some engagement ring ideas to guide my shopping. Jonathan seemingly quickly picked up on my plot and did everything I could have asked for. He sized her finger, showed her all sorts of rings and styles to gauge her interest. When she said she didn't wanta diamond, no big deal, no hard pressure sales to buy the giant diamond. He just advised us on what stones make for good alternatives for an everyday ring(durability, etc). I continued working with Jonathan after we left that day to design the perfect ring for Morgan. We customized components of another ring she loved and made it exactly what she wanted. He kept me updated with any relevant news on the making of her ring and at all times I felt that he took a genuine interest in making sure we ended up with her dream ring. This was unlike any experience we've ever had buying jewelry and certainly unlike anything you would get at one of the big chains. Morgan is now my fiancé, and she is absolutely in love with her ring. So this is where we will return when we buy our wedding bands, or when I'm shopping for a gift for Morgan, or any other jewelry purchase we ever make. I can't say enough good things about Worthmore Jewelers! They are the best!! My husband bought me several pieces of jewelry from Worthmore for Christmas and our anniversary. They were all beautiful and unique! I decided I wanted to have the earrings converted from posts to French hooks. Laura (also the best!!) worked with me to understand what I wanted and within a few weeks, I had exactly the earrings I hoped for. But better than that, I mentioned the other pieces were more special occasion items that I didn't feel I would wear that often. Laura told me to bring them in and I could exchange them for anything in the store!! She worked with me to get a new diamond wedding band that goes perfect with my custom wedding ring and to get a custom diamond necklace that I absolutely love!! I couldn't be happier with my new jewelry!! Laura was knowledgeable, super patient and offered so many options to look at and choose from. She custom ordered the necklace and had all the adjustments made for length, etc. They also happily sized my wedding ring that was always a little too big and now it fits perfect!! I can't say enough about the wonderful experience my husband and I have had working with Worthmore Jewelers. Laura is knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic and always available. We even stopped by the store after our wedding ceremony in the historic courthouse to say thank you and take a picture with Laura. When we decided to start shopping around for an engagement ring, I knew I wanted to be a part of the process and that I wanted to work with a local jeweler. We stopped by Worthmore in Decatur just to check things out. We met with Laura who gave us the diamond run down and then we sat down and designed my dream ring, an east west emerald cut solitaire in rose gold. It is simple, modern and exactly what I wanted. Plus they sold it to my husband for a very reasonable price point. For the band I wanted something a bit more unique. While checking out the samples in stock at the store, I came across a band with baguettes in the same setting as my diamond. I asked for a few modifications and Laura worked with designer to bring it to life for a great price. My husband wanted his band to be simple, well made and affordable. Once again, Laura helped us find the perfect fit. I highly recommend this store for their excellent customer service and extensive collection. Worthmore in Decatur is the perfect place to buy jewelry, from casual, everyday items to engagement and wedding rings. My fiance and I recently purchased our wedding bands here and could not have been more pleased with the service. Susan Silver (yes, that's actually her real name!) is absolutely delightful. I first met Susan while looking for an engagement ring for my fiance. She spent hours going over ring options with me in her naturally kind and patient way. I was impressed by her knowledge and professionalism and delighted by her fun, positive personality. We spent a lot of time laughing; which helped ease the stress of the process. I brought my fiance back in a couple of weeks ago to shop for wedding bands and we found the perfect rings at the right price. We worked with Susan again and also with Olya. I was concerned about commission and working with multiple salespeople, but Olya assured me that Worthmore doesn't work that way. We just picked up my custom engagement ring last week and I still cannot stop staring at it! If you are considering designing your own ring and have been nervous to do so, don't be scared, go to Worthmore Jewelers! My partner and I went to the Decatur store together one Saturday about a month or so ago with an idea of the type of ring we were looking for. I had something in mind that I wanted but could not find it anywhere - no jewelry store or website really had exactly what I was envisioning. We ended up talking to Olya who explained to us that Worthmore could actually work with us to design this fantasy ring! I was a little hesitant at first but she walked us through the process of what customizing a ring would look like and it totally put me at ease. Knowing that we would get a 3-D print of the ring before anything was actually made was very reassuring, too. I shared some pictures and sketches via text of what I liked and after a few rounds of small revisions - and the 3-D print to confirm the design and fit - the ring was ordered and arrived as scheduled. It's exquisite!! The entire process was absolutely seamless, stress-free and communicating with Olya was really a pleasure! When I had my daughter, I knew I wanted a special piece of opal jewelry since that's her birthstone. I found a beautiful pendant online that was ridiculously expensive with a ton of diamonds. I knew I could take the photo to Worthmore Decatur and they'd help me either find something similar in my price range or could make a custom piece. I worked with Jonathan who found several similar pieces and loose stones from their network of designers. One stood out and he was able to get it in the store for me to see. I fell in love the minute I saw it. I'm not much of a jewelry person but I had to have this pendant. It was spectacular- but also out of our budget (which I knew before it shipped). I loved it but had to leave it behind with the thought maybe they could make something similar but smaller. Jonathan saw how much I loved it and worked with the designer to try to find a way to bring the price down. He was able to work out a deal and I'm wearing the necklace right now - I don't want to take it off!!! That's the part that makes them the best - working with all parties involved to make everyone happy - not just maximize their profits. I could write a novela about how amazing Worthmore is. They're reliable, honest, and knowledgeable. They're passionate about their work; you can tell they truly love being there. This speaks to how incredible the family who owns it is. They're just amazing and kind people who clearly take care of their employees and customers, and the employees take care of you. They also never try to upsell, which is damn refreshing. The icing--they have some absolutely beautiful pieces, and something for everyone. Literally. Crow did an absolutely beautiful job engraving my fiancé's groom gifts; Christina was amazing with a resize, going above and beyond; Dan and Susan and Priscilla are so sweet and fun to talk to.
