The good side is that it is a good place to roam around and take a break but the bad side is that it is almost completely empty

For a place that is barely hanging onto life, you'd think that their security would try not to be so rude towards the few people coming in. You'll get kicked out for taking photos, meanwhile, there's nobody even shopping and all the stores are empty. The only reason people come here is to either take pictures of their childhood mall before it (inevitably) closes soon, or to get their steps in. Another note, there's now buckets throughout the mall collecting water from the ceilings. This place went downhill FAST. read more

I remember going to this place in the early 2000s, and during that time it was a really nice mall. Fast forward twenty years, and I drove by it. The exterior looks like the building should be condemned. The light poles were crumbling apart, and a shipping unloading area was flooded with green water. To my surprise, you can still go in. You'll be looking into an iconic piece of America's past going by the wayside. I honestly could count probably seven or less stores all spread out. I was able to entertain myself by guessing what store was the past occupant by the remaining facade, and a glass void of darkness. The food court gives you one choice there. Sarku Japan, the food smelled amazing as that was the only thing cooking. It oddly brings you some comfort in the loneliness. The ceilings in the corridors are showing signs of water damage, and deteriorating plaster from neglect. It's really sad. I feel all the businesses deserve better, and hope they can relocate to a better space where they can thrive. The sooner it's redeveloped, the better off the community will be. Props to Sarku Japan for being able to stay in business when no else could. read more

The mall is empty. Closed stores everywhere, and even Best Buy closed. Really sad as it's a pretty mall, but I don't even know how this place makes money! It's so dead! The area isn't great either. So overall, just avoid it. read more

Man o man what can I say??? I haven't been here in over 10 years and judging by my visit today I won't ever come back. I remember this Mall being the go-to spot for Clothing, Food and socializing. It is now reduced to about 10 open stores and a bunch of dead space. It's really a waste of a once great Mall. I don't know who owns this place but they definitely either need to sell it or rent out spaces at a cheaper price because it won't last long at this rate. Very sad day seeing as how I drove 35 minutes just to spark some memories, instead I was more amazed by the lack of care. Overall, Midway Mall gets a BIG 0/5 Rating from me and I hope that it changes because it's a really great space that has been reduced to nothing. read more

Midway Mall is now anchored by Best buy has a lot of athletic shoe stores, urban wear, nail salons, dollar stores, wig shops, stores that don't exist in other malls, stores where you can see they were once a national store that packed up and left when they raised the rent, but something else moved in and did not remodel much and have a banner covering the old sign. Sears has a gal that works in the shoe dept. She wears a banana clip with a frozen pony tail! Same lady is still there, she is very friendly and I think she is a vampire maybe a robot because she has not aged or changed They have a puppymill type pet store by macy's. It's pretty sad. Don't quote me on that, I just get that feeling from the animals they are selling. Dillards, Gap, Limited, Express, Bakers, gone....Sears is still operating and so is JC Penneys and Macy's American Eagle is still thriving. Food court has a vendor in every other space! Mcdonalds left, Taco bell still is open for business woooaaah whhoo (enter sarcasm here) I do highly recommend eating at Sakio Japan. They did add a buffalo wild wing, Nice place to watch a game or grab some beer and bar food, nothing to write home about Parking is good because people are affraid to shop and park here. Store any bags, navigational systems, or purse in the trunk. Or do like me and Pack a gun, Last time I was here around noon a car got broken into in broad day light infront of Best Buy. read more

I've went to this mall with my parents ever since I was really little. There were so many stores to shop at and I loved visiting. Today my friend and I drove there after practice to get some of the great chicken teriyaki from yihi japan in the food court (one of the only two restaurants open now). It was genuinely sad to see all the empty stores and how deserted it was. We read other yelp reviews in the car after and it really hurts to see how down hill this mall has gone. I wish the owner or city would do something to get it going again. read more

This mall used to be really good. It's gone down hill over the years. Not that many stores I'd shop at here (a side from best buy and maybe Dunham sports). The Food Court is barely there (used to have 8-10 places now has like 4). Just not a whole lot of reasons to keep coming back (at least for me). If there was a closer mall for me to go to then i'd probably go there instead. read more

This once-thriving mall is now a dead zone thanks to the economy and mismanagement. New owners don't seem to want to do anything about it, instead trying to sell it off again for a profit. Only go here if you want to be depressed. read more

I'm not going to be very critical of a mall because I don't usually have any need for them. In this day and age I cannot fathom why people wouldn't want to shop cheaper and have it delivered right to your house? But, for my most recent visit it served its purpose. I had time to kill before the Punk Rock flea market nearby. We walked around, sat on a bench and watched Elyria's finest walk by and even got teriyaki chicken. Most of the stores are closed and if they even are still in business they weren't open this Sunday. Don't know what the deal is. I remember Midway from when I was a child as bustling and home to all the top stores. I remember standing in line to be the first customer to get a goody bag. Today Midway Mall is a very different story, but I think this mall still has lots of potential. While many stores have closed and some have been replaced with mom & pops, several good stores like Victoria's Secret & Children's Place still remain. The problem here is the mall owner seems only focused on selling the property & has put very little investment into the mall. It is a shame because I believe a little investment could go a long way at Midway. Time will tell what the future will hold. For now, if you are looking for the basics, Midway has you covered. This mall was the place to be back in the early 90s but has fallen on hard times. To many vendors in small kiosks. Lots of "urban wear" shops and the food court is only %50 occupied although it does have excelent chicken teriyaki . It is trying to make a comeback and has a bestbuy and Harry Buffalo. I live nearby and when I feel the need to go to a mall I drive to South Park in Strongsville. read more

Midway Mall use to the shining jewel of 1990's Elyria. There has been efforts to try to revitalize the area which has gone through different management over the years. The addition of stores and restaurants surrounding the mall like a Buffalo Wild Wings and Harry Buffalo's hasn't done much to attract the customers. Except for Best Buy, the mall is dead. People seem a lot more incline to ride a couple of miles to Crocker Park or Great Northern, both of which has better high quality stores. The city is somewhat to blame as they have never really giving any focus into trying to save Midway during the recession of the early 2000's. With Sears struggling financially and coming closer to bankruptcy, Best Buy may be the only store there in a year or two The good news, because the mall is so dead it's easy to find a parking spot. read more

When I first came to this mall in the nineties, I was in awe of this mall. This mall now is very middle ground and small. I don't know if they still have the Family Bookstore, this is the only store that I still like. read more

The food court is slowly dissolving. The mall is fairly small, actually it is small. I would suggest going to Great Northern Mall if you want more selections for "mall" shopping. All in all, the main big named stores can be found here, such as Macy's, JCPenney and Dillards. I personally would rather go to Crocker Park for a better shopping experience and a great day trip. Stopped into Bath and Body Works, unfortunately that's one of the few stops left at midway for me. I do enjoy Christopher Banks, JC Penney and Sears once those go there would be no reason to shop at midway for me. I used to work at the information booth in the 80's and 90's this used to be the place to go. ..such a shame. I do try to shop there as much as possible to support the business's left. ..harder and harder to do. Hope the new driving configuration hopes to revitalize the mall! read more

We had fun at the mall today, took a browse around. It's small, has about 5 jewelry shops, small good court, 3 childplay areas and few basic stores. It was nice. But only 1 level. read more

If you are driving to go shopping, drive further east to the Westfield Great Northern Mall or north to Crocker Park. You should only stop here for a couple of reasons: 1) You need to go to Best Buy, JC Penney's or Sears or 2) You are happy with the selection of stores here. This mall is going downhill and stores are pulling out. The mall is already down an anchor department store (Dillard's) and a junior anchor (Steve & Barry's) due to the economy and it doesn't look like any other stores will replace them. Macy's is seriously lacking clothing selection at the mall too. I think Centro should give up on this mall (like Westfield did when they only had the property for 5 years before selling it to Centro). read more

Do not even bother to go to this mall, it's a waste of time. The only stores worth visiting are Macy's, Sears, and JC Penneys. But, the selection of merchandise at these stores is much less than those at Great Northern Mall. A previous poster said there was a Dillards, but that has been gone for years. The food court is a joke. They do have American Eagle, Aeropostale, which is probably the only reason they are still open. The place is a ghetto. read more
