Not the mall from my childhood, but still a good experience My kids needed school clothes and i decided to take them to the mall to visit a bunch of different stores to get what they needed. This mall has a lot of empty store or stores with not a lot of merchandise. We still found what we needed. You can tell that the mall is trying its best to stay relevant in the at home shopping age. We also enjoy coming here in the winter as a place for the kids to let out some energy when it's cold out. read more

Recently came here to shop around since I was in the area. This mall is outstanding! It's very active and features a ton of great stores inside as well as its food court it's easy to find parking as well. Not all the stores here are name brand, there's plenty of off Brand stores as well. The store is modern, clean, it's got an amazing layout especially being for only a 1 floor mall. It's definitely easy to get lost because I know I did. It was very active as well for a weekday. At least over 90 percent occupied by tenants. Definitely a good mall to check out. read more

This is one of the better malls closest to me, i usually have things shipped to this location when I order online. I've shopped at the JC Penney, Hot Topic, and FYE. All three are good stores and I don't have any complaints. The staff in Hot Topic are really nice! The Auntie Anne's is another place we go to and its usually alright but, during our recent visit most employees were on their phones standing around. Honestly, usually I don't care about this but it ended in them forgetting our order after 10-15 minutes of waiting. They gave us a $20 gift card that expires in a month, so I'm not mad really. We decided to visit Great Northern mall for a change of pace. While we were there I went to the restroom. I was absolutely disgusted. The bathroom is super small, I felt claustrophobic as there was a lady with her baby, stroller and her little girl trying her best to manage (poor thing). She was trying to give me enough room to go into one of the two stalls. She had to change her babies diaper. While I used it all I can see was toilet paper thrown all around, "liquid" on the floor!! You know what I mean. The babies little ku's and cute noises kept me from losing it. Listening to the mommy talk to her baby kept me sane. As I walked out to wash my hands "wish I could go through a sanitizing mist" I let the lady know that the little girl needs to be careful with the floors that there are "liquids"! After that exciting brush with disgust, I went to GNC. They sell "Smart Sweets". Anyone watching sugars, it's a great candy. My favorite is the one that looks like Swedish fish. I'll need to do a separate review on them. The mall was very full which is a great sign. There is a police presence which is good. I didn't see store closings. Every store seems to be occupied. They have a Disney Store, theatre, Sears, etc. Other than they need to do a better job with bathroom. read more

I finally found out where New York and Company is in Cleveland. It is here at the Great Northern Mall. Thanks to my co-worker for telling me about the location. NY & Co. is now my go-to store for professional wear since The Limited closed down. I came here around December 2017 so this review is long overdue. I went straight to NY & Co. to shop for black pants for work. I wasn't planning to shop anywhere else. There are numerous stores here such as Express, Macy's, Victoria's Secrets, JCPenney, Forever 21, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc. Just take a look at the website to find out all the stores housed at the mall. Infact, I just looked at their website and noticed that they have events that you can attend so that's pretty awesome. One of the events is a free fitness class. There is also a food court which as a decent selection of items. I remember getting some Chinese food and it tasted really good (I forgot the name of the Chinese place). Overall, this is an average mall with plenty of shops and dining options available. This is an nice mall in a great location. It doesn't have as many options as some other area malls do such as Strongsville and Crocker Park, but it does have our go-to stores such as Dicks Sporting goods and Bath and Body works and NY Lerner. The Nail Salon near the food court is AWESOME! I have been going there once a month for my mani pedis and have an excellent nail tech every time. The food court is good in size, options and cleanliness. The movie theater is ok for this location but not as great as other malls. There are a lot of nearby excellent chain restaurants and strip mall stores, as well as a Walmart and Target. If you want a one-stop shop location this is a great choice. read more

Over the years this mall has slowly died with more and more store closures and a number of 'no-name' shops trying to fill open spaces. The best parts are Dillards, Macys, Express, and perhaps 1-2 other branded stores. This is one location that has a Sephora inside of JCPenny. The salon they had has closed down and there are some food vendors that aren't the typical chains you see in a mall. The restrooms are terrible. The one benefit is location. Right off the highway and close to many other strip centers that include stores like Ulta, DSW, Best Buy, TJ Maxx, Marcs, Home Depot, etc. read more

With little kids in a stroller, I look for malls to sometimes just get the kids out of the house. Great northern checks off so many of my boxes for keeping me and the kids occupied. For those with little ones, there is a free play area near children's place. It is perfect for a few children, but can get crowded fairly quickly. However, there is an indoor playground near Sears that is ideal for multiple children. There is an entry fee, but you can come and go as you please. This mall has several accessible bathrooms that fit strollers and there is a family lounge with changing tables and a private room to nurse. As far as the shopping, there are plenty of options here. There is a good mix of apparel, beauty and speciality. The food court has a nice selection of choices too, including Mr hero and a yogurt shop, both which I enjoyed! I spent several hours here with the kids and we found things to buy and things to occupy their little minds. I consider that a win. read more

Growing up, before even Crocker Park took over as a top shopping destination on the west side, this place was the bomb! I loved coming here, and actually still do today -- it's an event and fun thing to do / see. There's something about a mall's ambiance that makes it special that no outdoor mall could ever resemble. I've been to plenty of malls in the Cleveland area and outside of the Cleveland area in my travels, and while there's no real uniqueness to this mall in comparison to others I've been to, the feel of being in there is something you can't really describe that makes it one of my favorite ones (maybe I'm bias because I grew up with it). Of course, it's lost a lot of the stores I grew up with and loved going to as a kid (e.g., Imaginarium, Disney Store), but I'm just so grateful we still have this mall around that it's still great looking, there are still a good amount of stores, good amount of people there, and the food court is pretty great and spacious (they still have great food samples). read more

I really like this mall and the layout is easy to follow, lots of variety in stores and the thai place in the food court has boba tea!! Yay. Even if only two flavors. Like most of the local malls, they offer the same amount of entertainment. Which isn't much. The stores are old and most are closing down. Nothing about this mall has changed in years. Zebrano is a complete SCAM! BEWARE! My wife and I visited Zebrano in the Great Northern Mall because we were interested in purchasing furniture. We were told they required a $1000, fully refundable deposit to start working on designs. We were also given an estimate of $10000-$15000 for a living room and dining room setup. We made the deposit and the store showed us the design. They then told us it would be $50000. Which was quite a bit more than the initial estimate. So we said it's too expensive for us, and we asked for our deposit to be refunded. They then told us the deposit was no longer refundable. In order for the deposit to be refunded we would have to purchase furniture and they would then take our deposit out of that furniture purchase. It's a complete bait and switch and scam. They also tried to get us to apply for a line of credit before we even agreed to make a purchase just to see how much money they could try to swindle out of us. This place is a complete scam. Needless to say I've disputed the charge, contacted the Better Business Bureau and am leaving reviews to make it well known so others will avoid this place. read more

The mall is great. Michelle at the jewelry store closest to the food court is awesome. The employees at hot topic are nice. Zumies is overly priced but the employees are nice. Earth bound is amazing and their employees are amazing. One of the threaders at the eyebrow kiosk are great. The villa pizza is good, the pasta, not so much. It's hard and has no flavor. The new burger place is good. Sarku Japan has great chicken teriyaki. The ladies at bath and body works are nice. There's a new dress shop that sells beautiful dresses that opened. The ladies are nice however, There is a dress I bought that was missing stones but wasn't offered a discount even though I have to fix the dress myself. My daughter loved the dress and it was the only one. Would have been nice to have them atleast offer. They do offer a 'One dress guaranteed' for prom dresses!! Meaning they take the dress bought and school you're attending and make sure one one dress is sold so you're the only one with that dress! That's pretty cool!! Anyways. I did not check the reviews for this mall until after visiting a few times. I actually came here a couple of years ago and thought, wow this mall sucks. But I've been coming here the past couple of months and really enjoying it. I've found myself picking this mall over the other local malls. There is a theater here and it's fairly nice. There is a big beautiful food court, with many options to choose from. There is a nice variety of stores too, can't really complain. I usually try to come during the week, and it's quiet, but one time I came on a weekend and it was PACKED. Overall a good place to shop. There is a Macy's and JCP too! :) read more

This place was on the decline, at a rapid pace. Maybe its just me, but it seemed full of life and more vibrant back in the day. Ill take the trip to Strongsville, Legacy, Beachwood any day now. I recall coming to the mall, when the food court was in its old spot, you would walk in and it was always packed with people, kiosk workers running up to you every five seconds. Im actually glad that was stopped. I believe it will come up though, the new food court is really cool. The sushi spot is not that bad. The Disney store is always a classic, H&M, the Asian massage kiosk as you enter is very inviting also. I have never got one up to this point, I may never, but it is nice to know I can if I want to. Me, PW and another guy we used to hang out with were at the mall, maybe acting a little young, wild and free. We were in high school, what do you expect? Anyways, we were wilin' out a little bit, all in good fun and when we were leaving we noticed a guy on the roof of the mall, staring at us. For a little mall out in North Olmstead, I really enjoy it's selection and ease. About a 15 minute drive from downtown Cleveland, always good parking, never too packing with obnoxious teenagers. That's enough for me to really like this mall right off the bat. On top of all that, they've got a pretty decent store selection for Northeast Ohio. Considering all our malls are in the suburbs...well, ever since Tower City mall went down the crapper... Anyways! Yeah, it's no Beachwood Mall, but sometimes I'm not looking to spend a fortune on some designer investment piece for my wardrobe. Sometimes I just want a cheaper outfit for a night out. A cute, quick, relatively small price tag item that is cute without looking super thrifty. It's a little difficult to find that at Beachwood. Plus, Great Northern has some of the same high end stores that B-wood has, with some cheaper ones on the side. Plus you don't have to deal with snooty looks and backing into a Mercedes when you're parking. Specifically I love that they have H&M, I don't have to fight through the troves of teenagers at Southpark, it's down-to-earth, has some high-end stores and it's close. Just a good ol' suburban, Northeast Ohio mall. I'm sold. read more

GNM is your typical suburban mall you would find in any fairly large metro area across the U.S., and it has an attached movie theater as well. The food court is very nice, and has a decent variety of offerings. And although Sears has now unfortunately closed down, Dillards, Macy's, JC Penney, and Dick's are still there to anchor the ends of the mall. It can get a bit crowded here on weekends, but that bodes well for business and the mall's longevity. And that's great, because to me, there is nothing like 'brick and mortar' store shopping, and the exercise that comes with breaking free of your computer screen to do some walking. And let's not forget that clothes manufacturers today have increasingly made it harder to find clothes that fit well, since there is now so much variance and inconsistency between claimed and actual sizes. Which is why I dislike ordering clothes on the internet. Nothing beats actually trying clothes on in a fitting room. Plus, you're supporting the local economy since mall jobs employ many people, including high school kids who need work experience. I also appreciate and respect the fact that the mall opens a bit earlier to allow our precious Seniors a place to walk around and socialize. Oftentimes, they will patronize the food court and stores as well. Support your local businesses, so we can continue to have a thriving community! read more

As a mall, this would probably get 2 stars. Not only because IT'S A MALL, and I really kind of hate malls. But also because it's really boring, and the shops are not that great. At all. It's just not that exciting. However: the reason this is getting another star is because of the fact that they have made special accommodations for people with kids. Not only is there "family" parking specific to those with small children (Hollaaa!), but there's a family lounge near the bathroom, with comfy chairs, couches, games and TV for kids, several changing basins (not tables, but concave areas so the kid doesn't fall out), WIPES IN A WIPE WARMER, private nursing rooms, and a cute bathroom with a mini-me toilet. That is, a toilet where your toddler can go right next to you and then wash up at a mini-sink. Hilarious, and awesome. It's always nice to know that, as a nursing mom, there's a place I can go and not feel ostracized when I'm in public and need to feed the baby. So props to Great Northern for that! read more

PLEASE BEWARE!! I understand that daylight savings time ended 10 days ago, but I am reviewing & YELPing about the lack of lights turned ON in the parking north parking lot at 6:00pm last night (11/16/11)!!! I live nearby, and I choose to walk around the outside of the mall and through the parking lot with a friend of mine to get to the restaurants on the Brookpark Road side. My friend mistepped in a rut in the parking lot and twisted her ankle. Nothing too serious, but it could have been! I could not believe the amount of lights around the Macy's lot and NONE were turned on!! I am going to send an email to Westfield malls about the POOR quality of safety they provide. I truly hope no one else will be hurt -- or accosted, attacked or worse -- in the pitch black mile of Macy's parking lot!! Please flip the switch, Great Northern (Westfield) !!!! read more

School shopping with my son today, we found everthing we needed quickly and easily here today. Sadly malls seem to be dying in this day and age. . Online shopping is taking is toll on traditional retailers. Great Northern seems to be holding its own. It has all the big anchor stores and a good variety of the smaller favorites. A good selection of restaurants in and around the mall as well. .one of my all time favorites wild mango~ but that's another review ... the only thing I have to complain about is. .good grief...the traffic patterns need some serious revamping! This mall is confusing, They have high end stuff and a bunch of low end all mixed. Its a mall. The food is expensive but if you can't take time away from shopping it hits the spot. One of the most disappointing things I discovered after moving to the Cleveland area was that a good mall is hard to find. Even the bigger, more modern ones (Strongsville, etc) are small and lack options when compared to other major cities. Great Northern Mall is one of the smaller, older options in the area and has very little to offer someone who wants to window shop. Despite the fact that the area isn't bad, the mall feels like one that you'd find near a lower-end community. If you don't mind driving an extra 15 minutes or so, there are better mall options. read more

This mall has gone through many changes through the years. The demographics have definitely changed, as the mall seems more diverse than ever before. Most recently the food court was moved to the opposite side of the mall, and a 10 screen Regal Movie Theater was added. I like the design of the new food court, however the food choices are very limited. Does a mall really need four Asian food places? The new movie theater is nice, but is expensive & has no outside access. As for the store variety, I would say that the store selection at Great Northern is average. Nothing really stood out to me, all the same stuff that you will find everywhere else. More low end stores over high-end stores. I also noticed several vacant stores, this is not the same Great Northern that I remember from ten years ago. I found the parking to be very poor on the North End of the mall, & better on the Southwest side of the mall. The parking lots are very dark at night, & feel unsafe! Overall, Great Northern is okay mall, but there are better shopping choices & variety Southwest of Cleveland. read more
