Update from 4/7 review: Brought my shoes needing resole on 3/23. They were very vague as to when they would be ready. After the 3 week mark came and went I tried calling, several times, on different days, at different times. No answer and no way to leave a message. Finally, I reached someone on 4/20 who told me they were working on my shoes at that time and they would be ready by the following Wednesday and there would be a discount for the delay (and I was assured someone would call when they were ready). No call. I called on 4/27 and was told they could not find my shoes but would keep looking and call me back. 3 hours later, no call so I drove over to the shop hoping someone would be there to help me. He finally located my shoes. The shop is FILTHY and I understand why it took so long to locate my shoes, it is a disorganized mess. Surprisingly, no repair was done after 5 weeks and I was lied to. I took back my shoes and will be sure to check reviews before I leave them with a different repair shop. (My mistake in not checking out this shop). read more

The first time I went to Midway the repair man's girlfriend was the only one who came to the window , so I couldn't explain what I needed to the man doing the work. I had to go back 3 times but finally they had it done. Not wonderful, but OK. The last time I called and reached the repair guy and told him I needed a sneaker glued. He said he was just starting to glue several pairs of shoes, so I brought it in immediately. I explained that I was going on a trip and needed them soon and he told me he'd have them ready. I came back after a week (and two days before I was leaving) and they hadn't done anything at all on the shoes. They said the shoes weren't ready and brought them out. They had had NOTHING done to them. I told them about my call and what they had said (about that they were just starting to glue several pairs of shoes and had promised to do mine.) They had no excuse but said they would stitch them and took them in the back. When they bought them out, they had put one row of machine stitching on them (which clearly wasn't going to mend the part that needed gluing.) They didn't charge me, but when they gave the shoes back to me, they were no more wearable than when I brought them in. This was a big waste of time and I had to go on my trip without the shoes. This used to be a great shoe repair, but it changed hands and these guys are running it into the ground. read more

DO NOT USE THIS SHOE REPAIR SHOP!! I DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO GIVE THEM ONE STAR! I went there with two pairs of shoes. One had multiple straps over the toes. The straps started coming out of one shoe. I asked can you repair? Person at desk said yes, of course. Price $12.00 to repair. Ready on Feb 9th. My second pair was Michael Kors wedges. The elastic was becoming too loose, so he said that they could just replace the elastic in the strap. Price? Well, I arrived on the17th to pick my shoes. 1. Even though I had the claim tickets, they didn't know where either of my shoes were in the shop. When I described them, the store person brought out the one pair, not repaired, they lost one strap, he said that he could make another one. When I asked why the shoes were all beat up with chips around the soles. he said that they came in that way. How would he know, he was not the same person I originally talked to. I stated that I had one chip on one shoe, which I had put a dab of brown shoe polish on it. when I asked if they would repair the damage to the multi chipped soles he then states that he wouldn't repair them. Really, the shop ruined my shoes beyond repair. 2. They didn't even know where my other Michael Kors wedges were! IF they had issues, did they even call me to discuss? Of course the answer is NO. A few things, not sure where to start: 1. This is the 2nd time I've brought my shoes here since moving from Tampa and finding there are literally no shoe cobblers or very few around Pinellas county, so even after they completely LOST my shoes last time, I still gave them another chance. 2. I brought two pairs of shoes in over a month ago. 3. I proceeded to pick them up (after they said they'd be ready the following Tuesday - even gave them till Thursday) they said they'd weren't ready. 4. I go in a second and third time, still not ready i was told as they've been "backed up" *meanwhile* everytime I go in and bring my ticket with numbers on it so they can LOCATE my shoes, they take 15 mins to look around and ask me what they look like repeatedly...??!! Like what kind of inventory teaching system are they using? Clearly there's zero point in even giving me the tickets. 5. The last two times I attempted to pick up MY SHOES they had a sign one day saying "Broken A/C" but you can't leave a VM for them (whole other issue with a business that doesn't have a VM enable) then 2 days later sign said "closed due to power outage" yet all the other businesses in the plaza had power??? So was it the A/C or the Power??? 6. Lastly, when I finally got my shoes back, one of them had the caps done but not the insoles, the other had the insoles but not the caps??!! So they still - after 6 weeks and 5 attempts to get my shoes done and picked up - weren't done!!! Absolute insanity how they are still even in business. It hurts my brain as a business person. I don't wanna sound mean (their excuse was they're just a "mom and pop shop" but if you'd get your business together and communicate with your customers and maybe hire more help if you're that overwhelmed with business (which is a good thing!!!!) They took my nice fancy real leather shoes (which had worn down soles and only needed patches), decided they couldn't fix them, THREW THEM OUT, and never contacted me. They were impossible to get a hold of. Never answered their phone or email. I finally get in contact with the owner, Jacob Azar, by googling his name to find his phone number, and he says he threw out my shoes. Unbelievably terrible customer service. They are thieves. Midway Shoe Repair came highly recommended so I was very disappointed by what happened. The strap across my instep was tight and I wanted a short extension on the instep only. The manager said he could do that but needed a week. I returned a week later, but they weren't ready. We waited while he worked on them. While we were waiting, another lady came in to pick up her shoes, they also were not ready. I left with my shoes but didn't look at them until later. Later I found all the straps had extensions, not what I requested. Now I can't wear them until they are fixed. I called this place to see if they do suede soles on Latin dance shoes. The guy said yes so I drove there to drop of my the shoes. Once I got there I asked to see what type of suede it is as some is slip resistant and other is not. I didn't want to get the same slippery sole. When I started asking more questions his response was: "I don't know, I don't know, the boss is not here..he won't be here until noon." Well, obviously he didn't know to begin with anything about suede soles or Latin shoes, and he could have told me that over the phone and that his boss that apparently knows this stuff wasn't coming in until noon. He could have told me that too prior to me driving 15 miles. He wanted to take the shoes and work on them, but I grabbed them an left. Looks like this place only knows certain types of shoes not to mention they are not professional, with poor customer service. I would second guess the quality of their work too. I have a favorite leather purse that I bought about 20 years ago when I was visiting a college friend in Phoenix, AZ. It is still stylish and I like to use it occasionally. Many years ago, I had a shoe cobbler tell me that every shoe can be saved, repaired or renewed and not to toss them out but have them fixed. Midway lives us to that expectation and I could not ask for better service, and not just for shoes! They fixed a broken strap fastener on a handbag I've had for 30 years - it looks brand new! The worst shoe repair shop I've ever dealt with. I left my shoes a week and a half ago I was given a price of $12 a pair to shorten the heels. They were to be ready yesterday when promised and they weren't. Nor did I receive a phone call to let me know they wouldn't be ready as promised. I've tried calling them several times all you get is an endless loop message before it gives you a chance to leave a message which they don't return no matter how many times you leave one. Then when I go to pick up my shoes only one pair was ready which I picked those up today a day after they were to be ready. The price I was given was $12 a pair when I got there they told me it was going to be $14.99 a pair. There was some damage on one of the heels after they had cut them which they were going to touch up, and I could make another trip to pickup tomorrow. I told them I would just touch them up myself and to deduct something off. They took a whopping $1 off but still charged me the higher price of what I was told they would be. I'm finished doing business with them. Very poor customer service Plus poor attitude and does not communicate well with the customers. Plus raising the price after giving a quote. Took in a men's belt to have additional holes punched and not only was the service provided friendly, professional and prompt (completed on the spot in less than 3 minutes!) but they wouldn't even charge me. I've just learned that place is NOT Midway shoe repair and feel like a total moron for doing that. I understand the gentleman working there does not speak english well, or at least I believe so cause he doesn't say two words including the most important, that being "thank you". In my last experience my shoes were not done on time. He just took my ticket, went in the back (making me wait without even telling me) threw a coat of polish on the shoes and brought them out to me. I brought in 2 pairs of Capezio T-strap character shoes. The loop on the straps was too wide so I had another shoe repair place stitch the loop. However, the top of the loop would hit my subtalar joint. I brought them to Midway Shoe Repair to unstitch the loop and make the straps shorter. They did such a good job that you wouldn't know that the straps had been shortened. My only request is if they could stay open until 6 PM during the week. It's tough to get there by 5:30 PM due to rush hour traffic. read more

Small shop located in a corner. Little hard to find initially but once you find it easy to get to. Walking in you are greeted by the voice of the owner and hear the soft banging of some type of mechanical machine. They took a very worn pair of Rockport shoes and made them look band new. they replaced the soles and added Velcro so they would be easier to put on and take off The owner was super understanding that I called him 3 or 4 times to request changes to how I wanted the Velcro.
