My partner had to take off work to take me into appointments as I could not walk on my own nor drive a car. Dr Alpert suspected herniated discs and a nerve pinch and referred me to Dr Matteini, she dismissed me and told me I had "inflammation of the hip" and sent me to PT. The PT told me immediately I had a pinched nerve and needed an MRI before they could help me. Went back and saw Dr Kogan who said to my face "what do you expect me to do about it", only gave me an MRI referral when I refused to leave until he did so. MRI showed 2 slipped discs pressing on a nerve. Was forced to do more PT, and 2 rounds of steroid injections before begging for surgery. They do not put you under at all for the injections, I have a severe fear of needles and a panic disorder (they were aware of) and was reprimanded for quietly crying during the procedure. Even with my history, they had Dr Matteini preform the surgery and she never acknowledged misdiagnosing me. Received surgery in March of 2025 and still have severe pain and mobility issues. Every follow appointment I was made to feel guilty and like it was my fault. No sympathy for ruining my life. I couldn't leave my house besides Dr appointments for 7 months, I missed every holiday and important date. Do not go here. They don't care about you and shouldn't be doctors. Had they listened to Dr Alpert in the first place, my life could be so different today.

I left the office without a scrip for pain meds, which had been discussed, and without an order for an X-ray to be used during a follow up exam. My advice: Avoid this practice.

But they allowed me to do a initial appointment to get a screening done which cost $140. Just to find out later that they just recommend I go somewhere else because they have no appointments, but of course you need a screening anywhere you go, so that was $140 down the drain. The final straw for me leaving this review is how hard they make it to get your own medical records. Their website says you can call their phone number which is just a robot which claims to call you back in 1 hour, but it was 3 days for me. Just to tell me you can only do it online and they charge you $6.50 to get your own test results, which I already paid to have done... Absolute scam of a practice. Stay Away.

I was a bit concerned when I read the one other review about him. I'm glad I went forward. Mom had her last appointment with him today. He was very caring...she has dementia and he allowed for that in all of his visits with her. Very patient. Because she couldn't stand at her first follow-up appointment, he wrote a script so she could get an x-ray at the rehab facility. He was cautious with his recommendations re weight-bearing, his follow-up appointments were right on time (nice, considering we had to use a Medi-Van. His staff was courteous and professional. He gets 5 Stars from me. She was released today after her second appointment....60 days after surgery. No pain since about 3 weeks after surgery. He'd be my guy if I ever broke my hip.
