I would give this place zero stars if I could. I was told I could stop in to pick up my husband's glasses since he's working 7 days a week and that they would be ready. When I arrived, Christy (the employee behind the wall) didn't even get up to help me--she just leaned her head around the wall and asked what I needed. I explained I was there to pick up my husband's glasses, and she simply said someone would be calling me soon. I waited, then got up and asked her again if she could help me. She acted like I was bothering her, which was honestly shocking considering she didn't even make an effort to assist me when I first came in. When she finally brought the glasses out, they weren't even in a case--she just placed them on the counter. Horrible customer service. Think twice before going there. read more

Well, 7 months ago, they over-billed me, I paid and have been fighting now for a month to get my refund. No apology either, just empty promised "you'll get your money in two weeks" stuff. It doesn't matter that I paid them right away. Had I not called, I never would receive my refund. These clowns are worse than NWI Healt and that's saying something. Even now, I've been on hold for 20 minutes just waiting to hear another excuse why they haven't sent my money yet. But I'm sure in another two weeks, there will be yet another excuse. I have been a patient here for 20 years under Dr Hoover who has since moved to Indianapolis. I had an appointment with Dr Choucair and ordered glasses based on his prescription. I received my new glasses but could not see clearly out of my right eye. I took them back twice to identify the problem. The aide consulted with Dr Choucair who quickly said I have a cataract that got worse. I asked why I can see using my existing glasses which are the same prescription. He then told the aide it was the glasses material. At this point I felt he was just throwing ideas out there to see what sticks. At no time did he offer to recheck my eyes or prescription. When I asked to get a second opinion from Dr Sitko, I was told I would have to pay for it. My wife got her eyes checked the same day as me, but it's been a month and she still has not received her new glasses. I used to highly recommend going to the Chesterton location when Dr Hoover was there, but now highly recommend you find a more competent and helpful optometrist. read more

Dr Youssef Choucair, from my first exam,seemed to rush through procedure,s as I was there for cataract,s. The exam to me seemed rushed, at that point I didn't know if I was going to go forward with surgery. I expected a perception but none. He said you are qualified for surgery and an appointment would be made. I went to southbend to cataract and Lazer surgery center is. Went through there exam, I left there still not sure I wanted to go forward. Now this is the second time my eyes have been dilated in less that 1month. I didn't know it had become common practice, did a little research,seem Dr,s were getting sued for misdiagnosed or missed diagnosis of problems with the eye related to diabetes and other illnesses. The Dr in Chesterton told me it was because they got a better prescription for the patient. After surgery care at Chesterton was merger at best. Saw the Dr, 1 day after surgery and was dilated for the 3rd time in 2 months. Dr Coleman in southbend did my surgery which went very well. So then another appointment a week later for follow-up, at this point he wanted to dialate my eyes again, I said no. He was indignant, and countered with. If I was you physician would you deny me the use of my stethoscope. I told him if he hasent seen anything inside my eyes by now,also with no family history of eye problems or diabetes tha he wasn't going to dialate me again. Then they the off was supposed to make another follow up ,there system was down I was told. They said they would call later in the day. Never called. I just called them a little over a week later and was told again the system was down,they took my name and number said I'd receive a call back. End of the day, no call. I recently took my 13 y/o child in for an eye and first time contact exam, after exam was completed and payment was made we were told he would need to return and must be able to insert and remove both contact at least 3 times in order to receive final prescription. This information was not disclosed when setting initial appointment. Child returned twice and is unable to meet their expectations, they have refused to send home a trail pair for practice/fitting. They have also refused to provide me with a refund, since the exam was completed... but not finalized? They insist that we continue to return until he is able to meet their expectations. Child has 2 full time working parents and this is very inconvenient. read more

had a trainee doing the exam had no idea what he was doing very confused and unprofessional, then I was miss diagnosed. Went to a local eye doctor in town and confirmed that I was miss diagnosed. I truly believe this was all part of an upsell on a more expensive contact, and I definitely got an attitude soon as I said I wanted the same contacts that I've been using for the last 15 years Beware of the upselling, attitudes and most of all being diagnosis based on lack of experience. read more

"A nuisance " They made me feel unwanted and a nuisance, the female doctor shut down my curiosity on better contact options. Bottom line, I've been a professional for 20 years, successfully and they were sooo unprofessional. I don't recommend. I wished I had read these reviews before I spent all that money in contacts I don't even wear. read more

This is a very nice office with a good selection of frame and lens choices. The exam was thorough, efficient, and highly accurate- the best prescription I've gotten. I used to see someone in Chicago for exams but now with Covid I am no longer commuting. It is really great to find this quality so close to home. read more

The lady at the front desk was extremely rude. I was told that I couldn't wait with my family as my brother was getting an eye appointment, which was fine, i understand, but the way that this was stated was rude and extremely off putting. She was not at all apologetic and she acted as if our business was an inconvenience to herself. I am super disappointed as this is my first time coming here and am looking for an eye care center for myself as well. I understand that teenagers need to learn how to wear contact lenses. I also understand and agree that a "contact lenses class" makes sense. However, to charge almost $100 for a trial pair of contact lenses, tell us he has to pass their class in their time allotment and then after the third try (which I had to beg for), tell me "Sorry. He was not able to complete the class in time." In fairness, it was my son's fault that he could not get the contact lenses out of his eyeball! However, they would not refund me the money, give me the contacts for him to practice at home, or even allow me to carry that money over to any other product or service. Nope. Not only is the $100 gone and the lenses were not allowed to go home with us, but they had the audacity to tell me that he will need to wait until he has his next eye appointment, pay full price for another pair of lenses and hope he figures it out! This Dr. was FANTASTIC!! I was not an established patient, but had an eye emergency and this place squeezed me in on short notice ON A FRIDAY. I'm also queasy about eyes in general. He removed a foreign body painlessly. His staff was super professional. I can't thank them all enough! I WILL DEFINITELY be a regular eye patient here going forward. read more

I've been coming here for years; Dr. Hoover is absolutely wonderful and I wouldn't trust my eyes or my kids' eyes to anyone else. The staff is always very friendly and helpful, and we never have to wait for appointments for long. It just doesn't get any better. read more

Services of front office staff in Chesterton are terrible. I have always had issues with their front office staff but my last encounter has forced me to seek services elsewhere. Dr. Hoover is good and I appreciate his kindness. However all the accompanying services are disappointing. I took my son there in April of 2018 for his annual check-up as I did in the past and ordered a new pair of lenses that had his new prescription for his current frames. The frames (and lenses) I ordered through the same Chesterton Office approximately a year before. I liked this office because they have modern frame styles so I was trying to stick with this office. The cost for lenses *only* was over $300 and that was with no special additions to the lenses. Weeks went by with no word from them. I called them for an update and they said the lenses had not arrived and I confirmed they had my number to call when there was an update. Their staff later said they called after my check-in phone call on that same day because there was an update, however they called a different number. I called another week later for update and to express my dissatisfaction. That is when I found out that they wanted to have my son's frames and lenses so they could mail them in so the new lenses could be cut. Mind you this should have been figured out weeks previous and now they wanted to send my son's current glasses to their vendor. What was he going to see with in the meantime? How long was this now going to take? They instead offered me some pittance off new frames in addition to the over $300 lenses. They are the ones that sold the lenses to me and they don't have the specs? Why did it take them so long to figure out the issue? Why did they call the wrong number back? Why would they think its appropriate to leave my son without anything to use for sight while the sent his frames off? I asked for a refund and took my business elsewhere. I ended up in Walmart where I paid $30 for new lenses. Walmart the measured his frames in store and shipped his lenses to the store, notified me and inserted the frames less than a week later with absolutely no hassle. Also the Chesterton office neglected to remove the "hold" that was on my insurance for his benefits. Walmart made me aware of it and when I went to see my eye doctor they also mentioned it. I called this morning (5/22/18) after seeing my eye doctor this past Saturday and they denied having anything on hold for my son. Terrible service. read more

I rate this service as a one since zero is not an option. The service and customer care is a disaster. In my case never notified of delays. When I called in for status call was not returned. I called again for status and asked for a manager to call me and refund. The doctor personally called me back and let me know that his employee was crying and claiming she was verbally abused. I was shocked by this for many reasons. I also spoke with the office Mgr. a week later when the order finally arrived. She let me know in cases of dispute between customers and employees she always backs the employee. These people are high priced and nuts with at least one who obviously has emotional problems. I gave up on canceling and getting refund because I felt like I needed to pay and get them out of my life. I'm a typical middle of the road moderate who was caught up in a extreme left liberal nightmare. read more
