Let me tell you about a situation that occurred. This complaint is from the family!!!!! On April 27, 2023, our 93 yr. old grandmother along with her caretaker, came to this establishment for an appointment at 12pm. They were dropped off by a medical van transportation company (as she is in a wheelchair). Well, a situation occurred with the transportation company as there was a delay in picking them up. I got involved all the way from Georgia to see what the heck was going on. After family members made multiple calls to the transportation vendor (company that dispatch out), I actually spoke with the driver who transported her there and she was actually stuck in Illinois. Even though, a lie was told earlier to her daughter that it would be 45 minutes to a one hour (which they should have been picked up by 2-2:30pm); it was going to take her more than 2 hours to get back. I call the vendor to see if they had emergency back-up to pick up our grandmother and as with everything else, they didn't have another van that could come and get her as it would still take one to three hours if she was pulled from the current driver and placed with another company. So that left us with having to find someone else to come and sit with my grandmother as her caretaker got off at 3pm. However, what I didn't know is that this business also closed at 3pm. Now, what behooved me, as I made arrangements for some other family members to come and sit with our grandmother and one to take the caretaker to her car, this freaking business put our grandmother and her caretaker out of the establishment at 2:55pm because they promptly closed at 3pm. WHAT FREAKING BUSINESS YOU KNOW THAT WOULD DO THIS TO A DEFENSELESS 93-YEAR-OLD MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, and GREAT-GRANDMOTHER??? Let me ask a rhetorical question: Dr. John Czaja, Dr. Katie Fesko, Lynette, April, and any other employees that were there, you mean to tell me that neither one of you all could have waited past 3pm, to ensure that our grandmother, who WAS supporting this business, was picked up safely? Whoever worked this pass Thursday, you all left them outside and walked to your car like you didn't have a care in this world. This is not over, and you will never, ever, do this to another person. I just wonder if it was a person that LOOKED like you would you have done this? Our family didn't appreciate how this situation occurred. As a person that has been in the customer service business for over 30 years NEVER in a million years would I have done this to someone supporting a business that I worked for. You all have left a bad, foul, taste in our mouths. Keep in mind that other people that made ride medical vans to your establishment that anything can happen, that the patient coming to see you has nothing to do with. However, as a business that's been serving the community as your bio states for 20 years, you absolutely didn't show compassion nor show a great relationship to our grandmother. The people here are always really friendly and I am always greeted when I walk in the door. They have a lot of helpful answers to any questions you may have about the glasses or pricing. I've needed extra checkups on my eyes because I'm a diabetic and it's always nice to have a doctor that explains and lets you know what's going on in terms you can understand read more

If I were you, I'd avoid this place at all costs. Makes sense that all the previous reviews are filtered, since they are obviously from employees. The dynamic of this place is like a comedy of errors, which probably not the best environment to have as a health care provider. Let's start from the top, or the bottom rather. 1. They were supposed to ship my eye glasses to me, but messed up the order entirely. This meant that I had to wait 2 weeks for them to arrive. When they didn't come in the mail, I called to find out that they put the order down as an in office pick up. They could have remedied the situation by maybe over-nighting them, but totally didn't. Since I used a GroupOn, I was fine visiting an office 40 mins away ONCE. This lapse in mailing me my glasses required me to make the trip out again. They knew this, didn't care, and wouldn't overnight the glasses as I suggested. Customer service is not a priority here, because their staff is a hot mess. 2. They have 2 ladies who are the receptionists, and they are funny for all the wrong reasons (more inappropriate than anything else). As you sit in the waiting room, they entertain you with all the gossip of Northwest Indiana (which is mind numbing), off colored jokes (most of it is casually offensive to certain groups of people), strategies used for their online games, and random/annoying questions posed to you. It's probably best to let your patients read the magazines in peace and quiet if you have nothing positive to offer them in the way of conversation. Part of me enjoyed these messy ladies. 3. When I drove all the way back to pick up my glasses, I inevitably had to speak with one of the receptionists to pick up my order. The ineptitude was definitely apparent when they messed up my order (probably because they were too busy making fun of their mutual friends and/or minorities), however these clownish people took it to another level. Here is the conversation that took place: Me: Hello, I am here to pick up my eye glasses. Clownish Receptionist: Huh!?!?! Oh yea!! You're that guy with the very odd name. What is it again?!?!!? Ruggabeev Juwannabeers. Me: My name isn't odd. My name is Zeshawn. Clownish Receptionist 2: Aburururr Me: Sure...... I just stood there. Finally, I got my glasses. The doctor himself...Dr. Samarjizzdlla, or whatever (I guess the theme of butchering names is commonplace here, so I shall partake), is ok. He can navigate his way through an eye exam without completely botching it. Good to know his is somewhat competent. Him and I share the same alma mater of the great Purdue University. His operation disgraces our amazing tradition. read more

I was a first time patient at Eye Designs Dr. Czaja is extremely professional and takes his time with each patient. He explained everything to me. He is very cost conscious of what needs to be done for each patient . He identified a medical issue that was affecting my eyes, that I rapidly got treatment for by my family doctor. He was very informative of all that needed to be done and explained. I picked up my new glasses today, upon setting the prescription he said he would expand my visual field in my lenses. I had no IDEA what this meant. I picked up my glasses and can tell you, I have never had such a great visual experience and have been wearing glasses for 35 + years. This is amazing. I have been wearing bifocals for the past 5 years and he changed how I see with that as well. He tested my old glasses and adjusted it based upon my needs. The staff was AMAZING at helping me pick out my new glasses and the add ons that I needed or was unsure of. They do not pressure you for up sales. They are such a cost conscious clinic when it comes to treatments and insurance. I cannot say enough AMAZING things about this clinic. I was hesistant as my old doctor left the area. Glad to be in the amazing care of Dr. Czaja and his staff. read more

I really love my eye center! I never have to wait more than 15 minutes. Dr. Czaja is very friendly and definetly takes his time to get to know you on a personal level. The office staff is wonderful. Absolutely love this office. The doctor and staff takes their time to make sure that all my questions are answered. The appointments were punctual and we did not have to wait long to be seen. Dr. Czaja was extremely thorough with his examination. He was able to give me information about the tests he was doing so I knew exactly what was being done. The selection of frames for my son and daughter were wonderful, and we were able to find a frame for my kids that they loved! The prices were very reasonable. We were able to get a second pair for both kids. Would highly recommend this office to anyone that is looking for an eye doctor! Definitely give them a try out. read more

What a great place for eyewear & contacts. Dr. Czaja and the Staff are awesome. Dr. Czaja's chair side manor is caring, educating and he really takes his time. Whether you have questions or he's explaining your personal needs. The Staff complements the office. The two women are professional, friendly and go beyond your expectations. (Its not like those "drive-thru" optical offices). They are in the new building, across the street from House of Kobe. The eyewear collections they offer is everything from conservative to funky and modern. Its my first time needing reading help, I was educated on the latest technology of lenses and the use of them.
