Anytime you have a orthopedic issue, there is a level of anxiety, nervousness, and anxiousness. It is a huge decision to make. His physical assessments of my ruined hip were thorough, both times I saw him in his office. Today, Dr. Martin gave me a shiny new titanium hip! He came to talk to me before and afterward -- the surgery took less than an hour (he's done a LOT of these surgeries), and he said it went smoothly. (My anesthesiologist, Dr. Fritch, was awesome -- she explained everything in medical terms, as requested, as I have a medical education.) Dr. Martin asked me if I had any questions, both before and after surgery, but honestly, the nursing team had explained everything so well -- with written copies of everything -- that I didn't. He showed me pics of my ex-hip... it looked as bad as it felt. And then he shook my hand and told me he'd see me soon. (The nursing staff verified that I had my first follow-up appointment scheduled.) Three hours after they wheeled me into surgery, I went home in His Goatness's care. The licensed physiotherapist got me up and worked with me on the proper way to stand, sit, walk, sleep, etc, so my hip can heal without complications. While I was a bit groggy from anesthesia, there were no side effects. I recall the discharge instructions clearly. My main care nurse gave me a hug (we were all vaccinated and masked). So now I am home, comfy, fed, and cat-covered. I am impressed, Dr. Martin.

Amirah Butler is a great listener who can guide a patient through the appropriate questions to start the diagnosis's process. After my first visit, it was determined that I required an SI joint procedure to help reduce the pain. Dr. Jacob Ramsey-Morrow was the physician who performed the procedure. It was performed at the Neuroscience Building on West 16th Street in the same department as Amirah Butler is located. Additional tests are required before we move forward with another procedure she recommended. Of course, it will be a few weeks before we can proceed with the next step. I'm anxious to complete the tests and treatments as quickly as possible. I realize no one wants to rush through, and they must be overly cautious to be safe. Once the process is complete, I'll update my review of the staff. So far, Amirah Butler and Dr. Ramsey-Morrow has been very professional, knowledgeable, and attentive.

He performs fluoroscopically and ultra-sound guided procedures for pain and spasticity. He is located at the IU Neuroscience Center directly facing W. 16th Street. This large glass building is very easy to find, and a parking garage is attached to the Neuroscience Center (ticket not validated). Patients can be dropped off by the main lobby with wheelchairs available by the information desk. The staff at the desk are super friendly and helpful. The doctor is personable and well-spoken, explains the process well, and has a visual aid, plus he answered all my questions. I do wish I had taken a few notes to remember medication given and some of the other details, but I have an appointment in a couple of weeks. During the procedure, he explains first what he is about to do. I love that so I can prepare myself. Dr. Morrow was great about controlling the pain and checked often on me. Most of what I felt was pressure when injecting the medication. This was my second procedure to resolve another area in my spine. I am still anxious but no longer fearful as I was during the first procedure. I worry slightly of the complications that could occur, but I feel it is worth the risks. Dr. Ramsey-Morrow and his team have earned my trust. After two procedures, I truly believe he is a dedicated and skillful physician who acknowledges each patient as an individual. I didn't feel as if I was in an assembly line but his only patient. The area of my spine addressed is already showing signs of improvement. She was my recovery nurse with an upbeat attitude and made me feel as comfortable as I possibly could be. She is extremely knowledgeable and set the pace for my attitude towards wanting to get healthy.
