They text your phone for family updates, talk about "High tech!" The best part is that, Indianapolis is way more advanced than Las Vegas, in my opinion! Definitely MORE FRIENDLIER! I had the total pleasure to have a "LONG" conversation worh a beautiful older lady, waiting on her loved one. She is 85 years old, and she told me that at least 3 times. Bless her soul. Indiana Surgery Center is part of the Community Hospital North. It is in the same general location…read moreexcept in a separate building. It has its own parking lot. It has its own cafe, but if you want to eat warm food. You will need to walk over to Community Hospital North to their cafteria. My big brother had been seeing Dr Jon Janson, who is a general surgeon for about 6 months now. We finally decided to do surgery to remove a large mass. This is in addition to removal of his spleen. This was a nerve wrecking and daunting experience . As someone working in the number one trauma center in California. I researched and consulted with two hospitals and several specialists before allowing my brother to complete this surgery. As the over protective sister, I came from California to ensure the surgery and recovering was done to my satisfaction. We are so lucky to have met Dr Janson. He was extremely capable, compassionate, skillful, professional and is a great communicator. He not ony made me comfortable in allowing him to cut my brother, but he was empathic toward my ever long list of questions. He was confident in his skills and it made us all more comfortable. The surgery was done on the first floor. You will check in at the front desk. They will provide a pager,which the famiy member will keep. The pager will allow hospital staff to reach you. It will remain with you until the surgery is over. Once the surgery is done, you are paged again. They will put you in a room, which Dr Janson, took time to explain surgery procedure and outcome. He also provided pictures of the mass he removed. He also educated me about my brother's recovery needs. Later on, my brother was moved to the second floor to be observed overnight. The nursing staff were extremely caring, helpful and sweet toward myself and my brother. I really appreciated the exceptional care my brother received from the surgery center. Special shout out to nursing staff: Michelle, Lisa, Alison and Nancy Dr Janson not only checked on my brother about 2-3 hours after the surgerey. He came early the next morning to check his wounds again. He provided their 24/hour line to call upon discharge. Talk about awesome customer service. I did actually called few days later with some questions, ex : my brother symptons, pain and fever. I was lucky enough to received a call back from Dr Vincent Delumpa. He was more than professional and reassuring. He was also the other awesome surgeon in the operating room for my brother. I just want to take the time to thank everyone at the Surgery center for a job well done. Thank you for keeping my brother safe and well taken care of. I highly recommend this group of extraordinary staff for your surgerical needs!

Our son's adenoid removal surgery and mole biopsy landed us here. The hospital itself is full of natural light and plants, giving off a peaceful tone. All of the staff we encountered in the pediatric surgery unit were super sweet and total professionals at navigating a kiddo surgery. I was anxious going into it all not knowing how our four year old would react but they immediately put my mind at ease with all of their childcare specialists and extra bells and whistles (stickers, car "ride" to drive back to surgery, etc).

While IU Health is not my tier 1 provider with my insurance, it's in-network. When it came up that I would require another surgery to address an ongoing issue, I began exploring IU Health North in Carmel in the hope that I would find a smaller, more personal care setting without compromising the quality of care I need as a complex patient. I was told to arrive at 8am for a 10am surgery. Registration is on the first floor adjacent to the information booth. The surgery suite is on the second floor. From surgery, I would go to recovery (of course) and then be kept overnight. Parking is free at IU North (NOTE: While I realize it's a bit of a stereotype, I'm not quite sure why the wealthier Hamilton County hospital offers free parking and the downtown Indy hospital does not, but I digress). While this is a bigger hospital than you might expect, I still consider it one of IU's satellites along with Avon, Saxony, Morgan and others. I arrived on time. Registration was simple via kiosk or with a person. Generally, the person is there to ask questions and direct. Once registered, I was sent up to surgery and the hosting area was almost immediately off the elevators. I checked in, got my arm band, and waited for my turn. I was taken back a bit early by a friendly technician. They got me settled in. Then the nurse and, of course, visits from anesthesiology and the physician doing my surgery. I'd informed the team up front of some trauma care needs. I was pleasantly surprised that this information had been clearly communicated and addressed. This doesn't always occur so thoroughly. I was grateful. I was in surgery on time. The surgery went well and I recovered quickly enough that I'm not sure I was even offered water in recovery. They had me on the floor fairly quickly. I got one nurse who was finally able to help me address an allergy inaccuracy. I was on the fourth floor. Interestingly enough, I was on the maternity ward (post partum). Apparently, they use part of the area for overflow. I was only in overnight, however, I didn't have a negative issue with nursing or techs. All were caring, compassionate, and for the most part attentive (I wasn't a high need patient, so it's hard to gauge attentiveness). The food? Definitely average. I took photos for three out of the four meals. The cafeteria downstairs is definitely better. I'm sure it's the same team, but I'd take this over Methodist most days - they get it to you more quickly, it's warmer, and those taking the order are simply friendlier. I figured IU North would be a little more high tech: 1) It's in Carmel and 2) It's a newer hospital having been built in 2005 with a cancer center addition in 2020. Most of the staff didn't seem to know much about the hospital, a weird deficit in terms of building a culture. Easy questions - like capacity and number of beds - were met with blank stares. It took forever for someone to figure out that there's a phone charger actually on the beds (it worked perfectly with my iPhone 16). I'd brought a charging cord believing that would be true, but could never figure it out. Finally, someone did. I was discharged as expected the next day. Discharge was a bit weird as it wasn't done by my nurse for the day. Instead, there was a virtual nurse (an actual person presenting virtually). Quite honestly, I hated it. It was impersonal and they clearly hadn't read my situation (for example, making comments about walking to a footless wheelchair user). I was also surprised no staff escorted me out. Yes, I had a ride. It still felt weird. I got my meds for home from an in-house pharmacy (Noting that I'd told them to send it to my pharmacy). While it wasn't preferred, it was convenient and it was delivered to my room so I could pay. The atmosphere here is calmer, cleaner, and aesthetically more pleasing. It's MUCH quieter. Instead of room bells buzzing, they have a silent system that greatly reduces the noise. Yes, it's still a hospital and hard to sleep. However, it's much improved. I also found the beds vastly superior to Methodist. Overall, I'd call this a good but not great experience. There are still some bugs to work out. However, the care was great - the procedure I needed was actually only okayed for this location recently. I was very pleased with the trauma-informed care and greatly appreciated the quality care for a generally basic but very necessary inpatient surgery.

Due to a massive fibroid, I had to have a hysterectomy to save my life. I had been experiencing…read moresevere bleeding for years, but it finally got to the point of being quite dangerous. The experience was pretty awful! Due to the size of the mass that they had to remove, my incision was 7 inches long. The anesthesiologist didn't know what he was doing. I don't know where he was trained, but common sense says that you don't want a patient with a fresh incision down the abdomen to be nauseous and vomiting in recovery. I will never forget the torture of those 20 minutes of retching in the recovery room! I would retch, then scream, retch, then scream for 20 AGONIZING MINUTES! It felt like I was being ripped open inch by inch! His name isn't on any of the paperwork, which is rather suspicious... The nurses that took care of me for the next three days were AMAZING, though! They were wonderful and helped to make the whole wretched experience bearable!

The nurses- both day and Night Shift were friendly, engaging, helpful and knowledgeable. Same goes for the doctor we saw in triage before my doctor arrived. Add to that, the cleaning staff were also so personable and helpful. They give great tours in advance so you're comfortable for when you arrive for delivery. They answer all your questions, show you where you'll be and talk about what to expect. They also make notes of your birth plan or preferences so they know in advance. Also, this hospital has amazing food. Seriously. I ate every chance I got haha they told me each delivery would happen "within an hour" however we normally received it in 10 minutes or less. What a friendly, peaceful place to bring your new baby into the world.

There are many doctors located here at this IU Health Network Clinic including a Pediatrics…read moresection. They have a blood draw lab as well as a full X-ray unit. There could be more services available here that I am not aware of, in fact I'm pretty sure there are, but I know the Labs and X-ray areas do exist. The suites used to be labeled A, B and C with separate waiting areas but due to Covid they have remodeled their large waiting area by taking down walls and doors and opening it up to spread folks out. I think it works a lot better now. I have been seeing Dr Christian for 2 years now and he a great Primary Care Physician. He knows a lot of specialists within the IU Health system for referrals. His particular section also serves other doctors so there seems to be plenty of nurses and assistants anytime I visit this office. There is always adequate parking available in the front of the building. If you go here, you now check in with the women behind the plexiglass on the left side as you enter the building. Cancer. The diagnosis is one no one wants. The entire journey from diagnosis to treatment choices is no easy journey by any means and finding providers with friendly employees and facilities that offer a wide variety of services is crucial to your physical, mental and emotional health. The Cancer Center at Community North is one place that I was surprised by and truly pleased with. I am far from impressed with the health care system in America so I felt it was very important to provide a review. From the moment we walked in, my family was treated with exceptional care from each and every employee we came in contact with. From the first employees at check in who gave us a overview of information of care to even providing us with financial assistance information at the front desk we felt a sense of genuine caring. Finally someone understands that the journey is not simple nor inexpensive and they offer you help up front instead of shocking you with medical expenses that you probably will not be financially prepared for unless you have medical emergency funds saved up for catastrophic health issues. Once we check in and knew where to go next, we met awesome nurses, care coordinators and doctors that did not rush us with helping us to understand all of the treatment options available and who encouraged us to take a few moments to think about what was best for our family. Even at check out we were not just directed on how to figure out how to get to check out. Our care coordinator escorted us to the check out and encouraged us to contact her at anytime with any questions, reaching our doctors, setting appointments, etc. If every medical facility ran as great as the Cancer Center, I guarantee the health care system would be so much better for everyone. They are a shining example of what other health care facilities and health care employees should be striving to be like!

In November, 2019, Dr. Wyant, and the entire office, moved from the Georgetown Medical Plaza to Marsh Road in Intech Park off of West 71st Street. Dr. Wyant, and group, is now with the Optum Network. Dr. Wyant has been my Primary Care Physicians (PCP) for many, many years and I still highly recommend him. He has absorbed some retiring physicians patients so his wait time has increased but I take that into consideration on my personal calendar and scheduling. He's so worth it since he gives all his patients the necessary time while still being efficient and productive. He truly cares about the health and well being of his patients. The new location sets back off Marsh Road, is a one level building and has ample parking. As you enter through the automatic sliding doors you're directly standing in the lobby. The same smiling faces you knew at the old office greet you as you enter. The charming office waiting room is large, brightly lite and I personally enjoyed the new comfortable chairs. The convenient internal lab was relocated with the office so no need to find a new lab for lab orders from your doctor. The new lab is much larger than the old closet size lab. Just remember this lab is for in-house Optum doctor's orders only. The new location is closer for some and farther for others but honestly only 10-15 minutes from the old office off Georgetown Road. Easy on/off access off 465 onto West 71st Street exit.
