This is the best tree removal service. They took down a large maple tree and cleaned the mess up. I would highly recommend this company.

Curious to know what someone else's experience is with have a tree stump grinded out? We had our large tree cut down by this company a couple of weeks ago and they just came back to remove the stump. Nothing as far as the process or what to expect afterwards was explained. I understand grindings would be left to cover the hole, but I guess my level of expectation for service as far as cleanup was more than what I actually got. The machine they were on also dug up our grass! When they cut down the tree, they did an excellent job cleaning up afterwards. Is this what should have been expected or am I overreacting, because I'm a little pissed. read more

I called for a quote to trim 2 trees at my house. I had to call a 2nd time to get someone to come out. Got the quote and was told they would be out within 3 weeks. After 6 weeks, I had to call them to get the work scheduled. They were supposed to come out the day after the big storm. I found out they cancelled the call because I called them. The woman who answers the phone is completely unprofessional and rude. They never called back to reschedule. I ended up using another business. I requested my deposit back, which it was not. I approached workers while they were on a break on for a job they were doing for my neighbors. The quote was good, so we decided to move forward. They were able to cut down a tree we had discussed the next day, and we were pleased with their services and clean up. I will say that their scheduling policy of giving a loose timeframe of something like a week but telling the client that they'll call when they're coming to you is somewhat difficult if one has to plan to take time off, etc. It just so happened that they came back to work on the place next door, and that job got delayed, so they focused on my house. With that said, they did quality work, and I'd consider working with them again. read more

Midwest Tree Service is unprofessional and they try to take advantage of the customer while leaving issues after they have been to your home. They came out to remove a tree and had ComEd turn off the power while they remove the tree. Therefore I went to the library to work. I took a break and came home to see the progress and they weren't there. I assumed they went for lunch. The tree wasn't removed and they never returned and left holes in the backyard grass and left my electricity off. I tried calling several times and no one answered. The next day they told me one of the guys was injured which was a lie because I called back to reschedule and they said the guy cutting the tree felt it should cost more, although they gave a price quote before doing the work. Midwest Tree Service ruined my yard. I had a fallen tree in my backyard. I got 4 quotes and I saw a few good reviews and referrals for their service so I gave them the green light to do the job. The owner who quoted the job noted that my ground was very wet and like a puddle around the tree and he has to wait until the ground dries up in about a week or so. He never called me back to say what day they were coming. I called the secretary told me she didn't know either but she would call me back and let me know. The following week they just showed up and start removing the tree. They didn't inform me they were coming and they did it while I was at work. My mother was home and she told me they started ruin my hard as soon as they came on the property. The owner called me at 2:30pm stating it started raining and they couldn't continue and will have to come back and finish the job. Well they failed to inform me of all the damage they did to my yard. They used heavy equipment and now I have no grass AT ALL. It looks like they were off-roading in my yard. It's nothing but mud and tire marks deep into the dirt. The owner said he is not responsible for the damage because it rained but the ground was already wet and heavy thunderstorms were predicted for that day. He just replied well the grass will grow back and he's not taking responsibility for the damage. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE A TERRIBLE read more

I'm a Homewood resident and all about supporting our local community. HOWEVER, I do not recommend Midwest Tree Service! We just had a very large tree removed. We obtained several quotes and went with Midwest because they met the lowest bid, are in Homewood and made another concession because we needed the tree removed in two parts. Granted the initial broken branch removal was done quickly, but it took several calls on our part to have them come out and take the rest of the tree out. The day they said they would come out they didn't show and ended up coming the next day instead. They tricked my unsuspecting husband into letting them take the tree down lumberjack style instead of in sections. Doesn't seem like a problem until you see they broke several paving stones (not really a big deal) but also dug huge tire tracks into our neighbor's causeway. When they were told about the tire tracks Midwest's owner said, no big deal, it's not your neighbor's property, the Village will take care of it. They also did a completely shoddy job with the tree stump. After the huge cost of having the tree removed, we are going to have to figure out how to make it into less of an eye sore. And also the added cost of fixing our neighbor's causeway. Worse of all though is they completely went back on their concession regarding the price of removing the tree in two parts. read more

Horrible service!!!!!! We had many issues. 1. We had the owner come to our house for an estimate, and he continuted to call us for 2 weeks begging for the work. We finally OK'ed the work and he took another 2 weeks to come and do it. Why are to harassing us for work and then take forever to do it. 2. When the work was done, which was done on our neighbors trees that were hanging over our house, they destroyed the tree. We told them to "prune" which is what was on the work order, instead they trimmed the whole apple tree from the bottom and only left a little on top. They took parts that were not on our property and upset our neighbors. When we called to complain, they did nothing but make excuses, they wouldn't work with us and caused us a HUGE headache. While we were going through this we did not pay until we knew they were going to work with our neightbors to make it right. We held payment for 2 weeks when the owners wife called and threathened to call the police if we didn't pay. For a business (which they claim to be) there is usually a billing cycle in which you have 15 to 30 days to pays. Not that any of their bills statement any of this. THEY ARE AWFUL. His wife was nasty and very unproffessional. read more
