100% happy with the quality of dental work I've received and I have no hesitation going back for my next appointment. This is a teaching school and we as patients, are receiving cheaper charges to get dental work done so it's no problem for me to allow them to put all of their schooling to use on me. I've worked with a few different students and all of them have exceeded my expectations and I completely trust the what the students are doing. I have been using the dental clinic, and got Invisalign braces through them. it cost less than a quarter of what I was quoted at my regular dentist office, for the same Invisalign trays. The staff and students at the dental clinic were all outstanding! very professional, knowledgeable, and kind. The best decision is to come and get the denture fixed here at the Midwestern University Dental Institute. Very happy with student Nicolas Broadway, in 2025 graduate! Price may vary, but it is acceptable in any situation, and the work was impressive. Started coming to the Midwestern Dental clinic in 2018 when I had my orthodontic work done elsewhere. I needed some teeth pulled and the orthodontist recommended the clinic as a place to look into for the procedure. I have faithfully been coming ever since.. the students are friendly, knowledgeable and thorough about what they are doing. The teacher will double check their work and make recommendations on next steps in care. I continue to receive care as needed for my dental health, as well as refer people I know to this clinic. read more

Good morning. I love place. I have been a patients for several years now, and they always treat me with dignity and respect. The cost is reasonable and affordable especially in my case. Every time I come with repeated issues or new issues, they always, and I mean always find the time and reasonable recommendations, that I can afford if pay is required to accommodate me. I am happy I chose this path, instead of wasting money at different Dentist in the city of Chicago. Not to mention, all necessary services can be done at one location. Jane Borgehammar was my physical therapist at Midwestern and did a really great job! I was in pain with limited mobility going in, but stuck with her PT and am doing very well. Jane was available via email between visits and took time during our sessions to explain exactly what was going on. I know more than a little bit about physiology, but it took her training and knowledge to set me straight on what I needed to do. Her professional fees were most affordable. Also, kudos to the lady handling scheduling (Olga), who was most helpful in pulling up my MRI information for Jane to look at, and even the other therapist (Tim) was helpful during my visits. Overall, a very good school and good people work there. I feel that a client's experience all depends on the dental student that is assigned to you. Last year I had a dental student that was great and she really went out of her way to help me, I was very sad to see her go but I was glad that she graduated. This year, I had a dental student that chastised me multiple times for being 15 minutes late toward the end of my most recent appointment. That was the first time that I was late for an appointment and I was temporarily inactivated from the program until she graduates for saying something back to her. She made a scene and called me rude and I was not able to carry a conversation with her, the only words out of her mouth were, "you're rude". The dental student also got right into my face and repeatedly scolded me for allegedly raising my voice to her, saying "you raised your voice". She appeared to have no respect for an older patient. The faculty sidestepped the fact that their student instigated an argument, as though the patient needs to know better. They did say that this was generational, since younger people can't handle being held accountable or any "confrontation". However, I was surprised that an email was sent to one of my emergency contacts about what transpired. Again, I am satisfied since the dental implants that I received and the results were very good. read more

I had an extraordinary experience thanks to a few employees starting with the young lady who checked me in by the name of Ms. Angela Tidwell. Ms. Angela Tidwell was very kind, knowledgeable, thorough & smiled through my entire process helping get acclimated into system as well as giving me pertinent information. What an awesome front desk clerk! While coming for an eye appointment, I met a young man by the name of Chris who works in the eye glass wear department it's because of him, giving me information and welcoming me to come back & check them out & let me know that they had so many options that I might really like that u ended up coming back after my eye exam & picked out glasses that I purchased so thank you Chris. And last but, certainly not least, Ms. Shawna Middleton saw me come in the door and immediately kindly greeted letting me know that she was available to serve in any way I needed. Ms. Shawna needed up educating me & helping me decide on a pair of glasses as well as other options I purchased. Ms. Shawna is so knowledgeable & I highly recommend her if you have any optical eye glass wear needs, they have a plethora of options that is sure to suit your fancy! Jane Borgehammar is the absolute best PT in the Chicago area. She diagnosed a knee problem that I had for 5+ years and with three visits reduced the stiffness and pain to zero. She has excellent experience, listens to the patient, explains the issues and pushes the patient to do exercises that are incredibly beneficial. Do not go to anyone else if you need Physical Therapy! read more

I was a little skeptical about making an appointment at MWU, but, my tooth had been hurting and gave every indication that it was about to start 'screaming' at me if something wasn't done PDQ. My dental insurance was lousy and a dentist I had recently seen was lousy, too. So, I decided to give MWU a shot... Since I was in a good deal of pain, I was relieved to get an appointment the next morning. Driving into the Clinic complex, I was pleased to find a covered parking garage with plenty of space. A very short walk into the building takes you inside a lovely, spacious, waiting area with lots of office staff to handle registration. (On subsequent visits, I have used the 'sign-in kiosks'.) Within a couple minutes, my student dentist found me in the waiting room and accompanied me up to the dental suites. By this time my anxiety level was high! After all, I was in pain and now I was going to allow a student to poke around in my mouth? Had I lost my mind??? I short order, however, my student dentist had taken a comprehensive history and was ready to begin examining my mouth - the moment of truth - was this guy going to make me gasp in pain or be gentle? The apprehension was so unnecessary! I wasn't hurt once! Hurrah! At this dental clinic, you are assigned to a group of four student dentists, as I understand it. My future dentists are Kyle, Lion (sp?), Jordan, and, Tina. Each one is gentle, thorough, and professional. In addition, they are all extremely personable! I've had several appointments over the past several weeks. At each step during my procedures, a DMD/DDS checks the work of a student. These licensed dentists are, without exception, personable with me and give detailed feedback and suggestions to the students. If you are a Type A personality, you may find the pace of the treatments does not suit you... The students are in the process of perfecting their techniques, and, they are learning how to speed up the work they do and still perform each procedure with skill: the pace is slow in comparison to a "normal" dental office. I'd like to give special recognition to Kyle, the first student dentist to work on my teeth. His skill doing procedures, and his concern with my comfort, made me confident that I could trust the care that would be given to me on future visits. Lion, Jordan, and Tina have cemented that trust. The bottom line is that Midwestern University is my place for dentistry from now on. read more

i have visited the clinic twice and both times i have been very impressed.everyone is just so kind and friendly here. i love the cleanliness and the orderly way in which the students and others carry themselves. from the reception to the students, i have seen nothing but efficiency and a genuine love for their job. it does take time but one needs to understand that these are students and they are at the learning stage. we have to make it less difficult for them.after all seasoned dentists make mistakes too.as for me i have two good and knowledgable students and they kept me in the know of everything they were doing. i am very satisfied up to this point and i think my subsequent visits are also going to be good. keep up the good work midwestern dentalclinic read more

I had an estimate of $15,000 from a Glen Ellyn dentist for caps on my upper front 8 teeth. Went to Midwestern after a friend recommended it in 2014. It took a bit longer than the dentist in Glen Ellyn and I paid as they did the work, but when it was all done they did a beautiful job! Check out my smile! I can finally not be embarrassed to show my teeth!!! Been going there for cleanings every three months ($50) and upkeep on my teeth ever since!!! read more

When I first started going to Midwestern University, it was great. The teachers and students were very nice and I felt that I was helping a student learn his craft even though it took forever to get an appointment and you'd have to sit with your mouth open for hours at a time. It might take like 5 visits for 1 crown, but I felt like I was doing some good in the world. I told them that my last dentist was doing checkups every 3 months due to the condition of my teeth and gums. They said they only do checkups every 6 months and everything would be OK. At the next checkup they were shocked at the condition of my teeth. In hindsight I think it was because I had been diagnosed with GERD and was doing some sugary lozenges throughout the day. The teacher became nasty, his name was Leziak or something like that. I was accused of lying about doing my maintenance and he was a real d*ck. The first dental student I had was great and I trusted him. The 2nd dentist wannabe students I worked with were arrogant little sh*ts and acted like they had been doing dentistry for decades and treated me like an idiot. One day I went to work and had a few animal crackers with my coffee. I then had an appointment soon after. The teacher scraped some of the animal crackers from my teeth and wagged his tool (no not that tool!) with the debris in my face and exclaimed, "There's some debris! This goes to maintenance!!". I was told I had a disaster in my mouth and their plan was to pull 6 teeth and give me dentures. It appears that there are certain procedures that they do not like to do and will suggest pulling the teeth rather than working with them. Perhaps crown lengthening and/or root canals with curved roots. I went back to my real dentist for a 2nd opinion who graciously reviewed my teeth and my plan for no cost. I was told that NONE of the teeth needed to be pulled! When the school found out, it was like how dare I get a 2nd opinion! I was pressured to sign their plan and was even threatened with being dumped from their program if I didn't do ALL the work. It just didn't seem right to me so I declined and walked out never to return. One of the arrogant little sh*ts was so frustrated with me, that he didn't want anything to do with me and made a younger student walk me out of the school. :-) It has been a number of years and only 1 of those teeth have been pulled, and only at my discretion. The tooth was spun 90° and needed some work, so I just told my dentist to go ahead and pull it. I can see how the school could work well in many cases, but my experience was terrible. read more

This is the best comprehensive dental answer that I have found in my years on this earth. It is thorough beyond belief (18 x-rays), with a competence level that is off the charts (all recommendations and conclusions are double checked by professor/supervisors), with a price tag that is typically half to a third of what I have paid at other clinics. This place is a gift to dentistry and the well-being of our oral cavities in general! The downsides are that everything takes much longer to accomplish. Exams are longer and more appointments are needed, but they operate with clarity and follow a detailed plan meticulously. I highly recommended this place for anyone with a modicum of patience who wants the best for their mouths. read more

I love coming to Midwestern Multispecialty Clinic to get dental work done. My only gripe is that my insurance is not accepted here, but that's on my insurance network and not the clinic. Otherwise, my experiences here have been fantastic! My student dentist pair does excellent work. They're super efficient and capable, as are the supervising faculty. Prices here cannot be beat, especially if you need a ton of work done, like I do/did. I recommend this clinic to everyone and several of my family members have also become patients here. I have nothing bad to say about the dental school, the cleanliness of the facility, and the availability of parking. I live in Chicago and was referred to MWU by a dentist from CCDPH, so I wasn't sure what to expect. My impression was that I was going from one "ghetto" to another; however, I was astounded by the professionalism of the staff, the students, and the faculty. The patient lobbies are soothingly decorated, and we all need that when going in for an extraction, a root canal, or oral surgery! I tell my assigned students of the last time I went to a private dentist, and developing oral thrush a few days thereafter -- indicating they probably didn't sterilize their instruments, or used contaminated ones in my mouth! Due to that bad experience, I am always aware of the environment in which I will be worked on. At MWU I have found nothing to complain about. Even the restrooms are impeccable. The Hispanic cleaning lady, does an excellent job at maintaining the restrooms serviced and refreshed. The drinking fountain on the first floor is always clean. I usually don't drink from most fountains because you always have the ignorant people who spit, or leave some sort of disgusting debris on the fountain. This is not the case at MWU! I also wanted to point out that the first student I had (he already graduated), was excellent. He did extensive restoration work on my teeth, since I suffer from dry mouth, and was having a severe case of erosion. The student I currently have is a D-3; she's a bit timid and I can tell she is because her nerves make her a bit talkative, but I understand... I was a student myself at one time and know how it feels. I often feel like telling her, "just do it, and if it's not right, do it all over until you learn." If it weren't for patients like us, willing to have students practice on our mouth, we wouldn't have such excellent dentists graduating from MWU! Things usually run at a slower pace in a dental university, because everything the students do or plan is discussed, and checked by Board Certified Dental Staff. I also wanted to point out that MWU has an excellent Hardship Assistance program for those who are financially disadvantaged. I applied for the dental (since dental is so expensive), and it wasn't difficult at all -- unlike asking for SNAP benefits! Robin Wett is very gracious, patient, and kind. She is in charge of processing the Hardship applications, and efficient in responding to your application in a timely manner. I must mention that if you plan on enrolling for the Chiropractic, Optic, or other services, and you want to apply for Hardship, I was told you have to apply separately; which shouldn't be difficult if you kept copies of everything you submitted for the first application. Overall, I think the place is beautiful; the people are tremendously patient, professional and friendly to the patients, and I would highly recommend the place to anyone who has difficulty paying a regular dentist, or whatever services MWU provides. Mind you, not everything is covered, and not everyone gets 100% coverage --it's all based on your income and household size among a few other things. Oh, and after ending your visit to the clinics, you can run over to the nearby shopping strips and wait till your dental anesthetic (as an example) wears out, so you can go dine in the nearby restaurants! read more

Midwestern University Dental clinic accepted me as a patient and I have had nothing but good experiences since! My dental students Brian and Josh have been phenomenal, they will be an asset to any office that hires them. I am sure they will make excellent Dentist when they graduate. Procedures take a while to get done as everything must be approved by the faculty. That is fine for me I need a lot of work done and the prices are very reasonable and it is a plus they accept my dental insurance. The place is clean, they are very hygiene conscious and their technology is state of the art. I am glad I found this place and it is great for people who don't have dental insurance. Appointments may take all morning but they only take care of you and the appointments run right on schedule. read more

I had a first oral surgery appointment 2 days ago as part of their Veterans Day dental care offering I had a complicated extraction of a broken formerly crowned premolar. Being from the Midway Airport area of Chicago I was late getting there wandering the maze of toll roads & streets. When I finally got there parking in the free parking tower was easy anf a few feet from the clinic. Once inside though the visit was to be a Veteran's day freebie I was treated like a VIP. When in the actual clinic all staff were very pleasant, skilled and caring. X rays and local anesthetic placement and the actual extraction bone by Dr. Bertini and a squad of very skilled staff was flawless. No pain, no excessive bleeding and unlike all my prior extractons a senior student placed a number of disolveable sutures in the wound in a marked contrast to all my prior extractions when I was left with a gaping cavity to bleed for days, this time no bleeding. No post op pain & Rx for antibiotc to prevent infection. Clear discharge instructions. A marked contrast to prior experiences at Cook County Hospital Oral Surgery where it was all rushed and rude w no Rxs and rush to send me home bleeding etc. I will recommend this Clinic to all Veterans and all general public. They are the very best. I am doing very well and am eternally grateful. God bless you all. read more

I went to the dental clinic here after visiting an Aspen location being in extreme pain. They pulled one tooth charging me over $300. They qouted me over $7000 just for a deep cleaning and a tooth they insisted needed a root canal and crown. I called and made an appointment with Midwestern. I was paired with student Tonya and her partner. Tonya could not be more professional or kind. Though she was supervised by a dentist/staff member, I considered her my dentist. I was charged somewhere around eighth the price Aspen qouted me for the deep clening. They also filled several cavities which Aspen said they would worry about later. As for the $5000 root canal, they simply removed the old filling and put in two new filling for $80. Regardless of the price the service was just as good if not better than I get from a "regular" dentist. Definitely better than Aspen who left me bleeding for a week and still some pain over a year later. Yes, it takes a little longer and the students are learning, but I think it is great that they get the practice and I thought their supervisor was superior. Now I am just seeing the hygentist every three months. Just hope he/ she is half as good as Tonya. read more

I was told I could leave a review here on YELP and I definitely want too! I started with this place back in May 2018 and was accepted into the program. I was so happy! Since day one everybody has been so awesome down to the front desk staff back up to the two wonderful students that are working on me, Carol Jefries and Anissa Anast, they are totally awesome!! So courteous and so professional and such a delight to visit each time! They definitely get a big A+ in my book. Their knowledge is so great explaining to me all procedures and what can I do to help maintain better care of my teeth. They perform a thorough job on my teeth better than the dentist I had for years. I trust them in their judgment for making the best decision for me what needs to be done. I am so thankful that I found this place after being referred to by a friend of the family who gives great praise too for their service. I am definitely sticking with them for as long as they will take me for sure. And I am glad to be the practice subject for these two fine ladies to learn about everything in dentistry. I also sign up my husband and he was accepted too into the program. I know people might comment on the time it takes to get through your visit but myself I have tons of patience but people need to understand this is a learning experience for all these students. This is how they are going to learn and secede into their careers once they graduate. I am saving lots of money with the program and that is worth it but I am getting the most excellent care that I can ever ask for. So make yourself have the patience for each appointment and it will be well worth it down the line. And I couldn't have asked for two of the most wonderful students to work on me, I feel blessed. Hi all. I am no where near done with my procedures, but I wanted to say, so far, everyone has been amazing here, for real! Eli (Elias Masias (?) (3rd year student) and Brian (?) 4th year student have been completely fantastic, they really have....I have not cancelled any appointments, that I recall, but have had to reschedule more than I can count! They were all more than accommodating and have completed every procedure I was scheduled for with great ease and sincere compassion. (My story is not good, and I am far from done, I am in for a lot more soon) but, they have been truly great thus far, and I am more than grateful. Thank you so much Midwestern and the students that have worked on me....I will be back to see you all when you have your own practices!!
