Because they're relatively new, I wasn't finding a lot of information online about it. I called the phone number on the sign and got in touch with Teacher Deva who was delightful to talk to and let me come and tour the school on a Friday morning (a day they have off) with my little one. My daughter immediately clicked with the space. There's tons of forest, a garden, ducks, and even a cat that roams the property. We had seen a lot of really great schools in the area, but this one just felt special. After seeing the space, my daughter didn't want to leave. We knew we had found the one. Poppy Preschool is a Waldorf-inspired preschool where the kids enjoy singing, arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, and lots of play. They also learn a lot of collaborative skills like cleaning up. The teachers Deva and Sarah are calm, gentle, and patient. I've watched them first-hand moderate conflicts between kids where they help the kids verbalize their feelings and gently deflect any physical altercations. It's lovely to see. On the first day of school, I was worried my daughter would cling to me and not want to go, but she took one look at the ducks and the garden and immediately felt comfortable jumping in. Every day since her first day she's excited to go to school and she doesn't want to come home. She's also *delightfully* dirty at the end of the day, which I love. She's engaged and learning so much, she even teaches us all the songs they learn at school. I also love that they garden and cook their own food. Every day of the week has a different focus, so the kids feel grounded in a bit of routine, but there's still plenty of room for exploration and play. It's been a real joy having my daughter in Poppy Preschool. I highly recommend this incredible forest preschool to anyone in the area!

The daycare/preschool is in a beautiful spacious house with a magical garden and a pool. My son learned how to read & write, basic math skills, how to cook, swim, play the piano, make art, and in addition, he also learned empathy, responsibility and social skills. Most importantly he made friends for life. The teachers were loving human beings that taught them so many great social and intelectual skills for their age. The owner Heather Urban loves working with children and operates the daycare with utmost care and attention to detail. Over the years we became good friends and I continue to value her feedback and advice when it comes to my child's upbringing even as he enters his teenage years. We moved to the bay area, but our son to this day misses his daycare/preschool days and his friends. We highly recommend this daycare and preschool and our son wishes he could do it all again!

It provides personalized care that fits many of the children's needs since the daycare hosts a number of teachers to take care of all the kids that attend this daycare. The teachers were very kind, inclusive and a lot of fun. The site also has a wonderful garden where they grow their own vegetables and teach the children the benefits of eating healthy. Love it! My kids attended this daycare for 2 years and not only were they well taken care of, they were also well prepared for elementary school. The owner is very professional and fair. She understood our needs and adjusted towards our time schedules accordingly. Highly recommend this daycare.

I have thought about writing this review for YEARS (it's been 3ish years since my kids went here)…read moreand finally decided it was necessary after a conversation with my 7 year olds today. I chose to put my kids in this school because the reputation around town was really positive. The "word on the street" couldn't have been more wrong. My kids are still traumatized by their experience here. There were times where they locked my 3 year old outside, at one point they "locked him in a room and wouldn't let him out" (per his brother). The nap situation is basically run by prison guards. My kids are some of the most well behaved and kind children I have ever met and this place brought out the absolute worst in one of my sons. He began hitting and not being able to function. It caused significant turmoil in our family trying to find out what was going on with him. Turns out it was all of the awfulness going on at this school. The day we pulled them out of this school still stands as the best parenting move I have ever made. That was the day my son began to get back to his sweet and kind self. We spoke to a former teacher of the school soon after we pulled him out and she stated she had to quit because she was so far from okay with how the school was run and even recommended that we think about counseling for our kids due to their experience there. I am NOT the mom who thinks my kids walk on water and can do no wrong, far from it. This is just an honest review based on our horrible experience with this school. I tell anybody who asks me about it, because like I said before, the reputation is a good one but our experience was wretched.
