Poor service, he is never in the office. Seems unorganized, doesn't return phone calls. Prices are not competitive.

I bought a $2100 a year insurance policy on a 10 unit rental property in Loveland…read more I wanted sewer back up coverage so Christina added it to the comprehensive and liability policies I bought. So I decided to sit down and read that portion of the policy. Turns out the policy specifically EXCLUDES sewer back ups. Christina told me then that the company does not even offer sewer back up coverage in the State of Colorado. Seems to me she should have known that before she sold it to us and took a check in full for it. I had to Cancel this policy after 2 months and get Farmers insurance out of Greeley to get this property insured correctly. Then the kick in the gut comes,Christina and American Family kept a $196 cancellation fee for cancelling a policy that was not written correctly through no fault of my own. Christina just told me to contact American Family, even though she admitted she made an error. What a complete waste of time, now I have to wait for an American Family investigator to see if I am entitled to my own hard earned money. They say they are commercial property specialists, don't believe it. Hours of my time wasted on showing them the property, filling out paperwork, giving supporting documents, filing a complaint and I am still not done. I live in Berthoud and I wanted to do business locally. I will update this posting once I hear from the American Family investigator. I am not holding my breath for my $196. Update: I got another check for $3. Had to call the supervisor,Maureen, of the investigator,Sheri White, because she was not following up in the time frame she promised to,I was promised I would have an answer tomorrow the 26th of september. It has been a month since I had to cancel this policy because I was sold sewer back up coverage that does not exist in the State of Colorado by this underwriter. I am still owed $193. Will update accordingly. Update: I threatened Maureen with a complaint with the State for insurance Fraud against the Berthoud office because they sold me a coverage that did not exist. 5 days later,I was contacted by someone in their legal department saying that a check for $193 was on its way,I have received my check. But it took complaints to 2 Berthoud office people, their regional supervisor, the Supervisors supervisor, and a member of their legal department and over 5 weeks with a threat of a Fraud complaint to the State to get my money. Buy Insurance anywhere else.

While Auto-Owners (AO) may be rated "good" from a financials viewpoint by AM Best (i.e. clearly…read morethis company makes money), its claim processing has so far very slow and frustrating for us. And we've been customers for 9 years. After being stuck in another state for over a year, due to covid, we returned home to find what several contractors told us was hail damage to our roof and siding. So we contacted our AO agent, who after a week passed us onto an AO claims adjuster, who after two more weeks has now passed us onto an AO engineer, who has still not contacted us or given us a date when he or she will review our claim. It seems very much like a run-around, whether it's deliberate or not. In the meantime, we still don't know if Auto-Owners will accept our claim. The adjuster said "it looks like hail damage" but that he's "not an expert" which made us wonder why we took the time to meet with him. He also said that there was a time limit on submitting such a claim even if though it looks like hail damage, despite that fact that we could not fly back to our home until we had our covid shots earlier this year (we're in our 70s). And the latest delay is the 15-page proof of loss document we received from Auto-Owners, which we don't know how to fill out given that we're still waiting for their assessment of the damage. In short, this company rates very low compared to the insurance company we had at our previous home, which was excellent when we got hit by hurricane Isabel in 2003. So our advice is to go with another insurance company if there's ever a chance you might need to submit a claim.
