The pro shop is typical and I was served quickly and friendly. The course was in great shape. I have been playing mostly non-resort courses and this course was in the best condition of any I've played. Tee boxes and fairways were great and the greens were impeccable. They were a tad slow as they were just a touch long. About the only general negative, was the layout as it snaked through a neighborhood with several busy street crossings. Anyway, I'd definitely play it again.

On the first tee box, the course starter told us…read morepersonal coolers weren't allowed and said he'd have to confiscate ours if we wanted to play. Apparently management decided the night before to start enforcing this policy. No notice, no warning online, nothing. To make it worse, he said we couldn't even take the water out of the cooler and keep it. So... no water for 18 holes in Central Florida? Unreal. We went back to the pro shop and the "manager" was rude, dismissive, and made zero effort to resolve the situation. He claimed it was due to a city ordinance, which is complete nonsense (I checked). Just arrogant staff enforcing a ridiculous internal policy and treating paying customers like garbage. I work in hospitality--I understand customer service. This place has none. Do not waste your time here. No concern for the customer experience, no professionalism, and no interest in making things right. We planned this round for weeks, coordinated multiple schedules, and this course ruined it without a second thought. The manager flat-out said they weren't worried about upsetting one group. Fine. Bet. Casselberry Golf Course just lost three customers for life. Plenty of better options nearby--Wedgefield is cheaper and far superior, and Ventura is also a much better course for the same price. I'd give zero stars if I could.

The round even started off promising thanks to the starter, who was one of the friendliest and most helpful starters I've met. That ended up being the only highlight. Course conditions were far below what we expected for the price. Fairways were patchy and rough, bunkers looked unmaintained, and the cart paths were in such bad shape that it took away from the experience. The greens actually rolled surprisingly well, but that was the only positive in terms of conditions. The real issue--and what ultimately ruined our day--was a very unsettling encounter with a golf shop employee. On a short downhill par 4, a ball landed within about 10 feet of one of the guys we had been paired with. No warning, no "fore," no sign that anyone was hitting into us. Out of understandable frustration after almost getting hit, he tossed the ball back toward the fairway. A few minutes later, a man in his late 20s or early 30s sped up behind us, said a quick "sorry for almost hitting you," and immediately followed it by scolding us for throwing his ball. He then stated he was an employee, told us he was heading back to the shop, and threatened to end our round on the spot. He made bizarre comments about our playing partner's "ego" and how far he hits the ball, then stormed off to confront the other group--nearly getting into an altercation with them. My wife and I were stunned. It was unprofessional, hostile, and completely unnecessary. We finished the hole while he yelled from the cart path about "getting us kicked off the course." Thankfully nothing came of it, but it absolutely destroyed the round. For a course already struggling with conditions, the last thing I'd expect is an employee actively chasing away customers. We genuinely wish this could be our neighborhood course, but we won't return as long as this kind of behavior is tolerated. Golf should be enjoyable--not stressful or confrontational.

Hidden off the A1A between some condo high rises and back by the Publix, Walgreens and Shores Community Center. Don't let the name fool you. While it is called a golf club, and I guess there are memberships, it is very much a public course that aside from the brief times when they have leagues, you just show up and play. A few notables: - Right now the course is "under construction" which to me looks like they are just trying to grow some fresh grass on their tee boxes. This means right now it's all temp. tees which only make short holes even shorter. - You can check the layout and distances on their site before you play but right now I don't think anything except maybe #8 is over 100 yards and the shortest are in the mid-20's. You could load the ball in your ass and fart it on the green easier then using a club for something that short. - Obviously with a course this small there are no motorized carts. Everything is walking but they do rent pull carts and clubs and they sell balls and if you're so inclined tees. Do you really need a tee to play here? No, you can get by with a wedge and a putter although if you do rent clubs, they give you a bag with a putter, a wedge or two and an 8 and 9. - Was it busy? Not at all. It was a hot as hell Sunday and aside from two older guys who stopped around five to let us play through, we had the place to ourselves. The guy in the clubhouse said in summer they are usually dead and that most of their rounds are from snowbirds who play far more in winter when it's still warm, but not right now when it feels like you're playing on Mercury. - Hours are 7:30 to 6 during DST and until 5 during standard time. Overall the course is a bit beat up with some brown fairways and greens but the pricing is decent and it's always more fun when you mostly have the course to yourself. Next time in town, next year, guaranteed we'll be back. www.oceansgolfclub.com/

But the course has been back open for a few years and there are fairways that are just plain dirt. The green are ok, but are very slow.... I assume to keep them so get don't burn out. In comparison to Palm Harbor that the city took over and re-opened... I had thought the city of Flagler Beach was doing the same with this course but it is in desperate need of a complete grass and irrigation renovation. It is a shame, and I always come back because it would be a really nice 9 hole course (which we do not have any other 9 hole courses around) if they just would make the fairways more playable.
