We actually started her volleyball journey at OTVA when she was first learning the game. When the club moved locations, we transitioned to OVA, which is a solid club with directors we truly liked. As she continued to grow and wanted to be pushed more, she then spent two years at Gamepoint. While there were positives, we eventually realized it just wasn't the right fit for her long-term development. Coming back to OTVA has been one of the best decisions we've made. We couldn't be happier with our experience. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and truly invested in the athletes. They do an excellent job balancing strong fundamentals, competitiveness, and fun, which isn't easy to find. Everyone--from coaches to staff to families--has been welcoming and genuinely kind. OTVA also does a great job supporting players who want to play at the next level, offering guidance and help throughout the recruitment process without losing sight of the importance of loving the game. This review is only about the tryouts that they have for their club travel teams. They do have…read moresome really good coaches and staff. This review is based on our experience when trying out for a travel team at OTVA Longwood. If you think that your child will have a good chance of making a travel team at the OTVA Longwood tryouts, think again. Almost all of the girls who make these teams, have moved up from the year before to the same team. For example, their Select age 13 team, the next year will be the Select age 14 team. There are very few spots open for girls trying out. Your child will not be evaluated at tryouts. The coaches already know who is making these teams prior to tryouts starting. The kids who are returning from the previous year, and who will be making these teams, will be seperated from the other kids trying out. The coaches will be watching the returning kids and ignoring the other ones who are trying out. I have known a lot of talented girls who made travel teams at other clubs, but were ignored and cut from this one. Tryouts are a very good "payday" for this club and will be a very sad experience for many girls. OTVA Longwood only has 4 courts, so they are very limited to the number of teams they can have. There are other really good clubs out there, that offer travel teams, where your daughter will actually get a fair evaluation, and not ignored and cut!

That wouldn't have been possible without Chase's coaching. He is encouraging, motivating, passionate, fun, and most importantly, he helped me expand my tennis social network! I have worked with three other coaches while he was unavailable for a few months. None of them was able to improve me as fast, not even close; nor to make me feel confident and want to play tennis every single day. What really amazed me was I often got compliments on how fast I improve when playing with friends right after his lesson. His teaching suits me well so I got speedy results! My 8-year-old son also started at the same time, but with other coaches. He was doing fine but did not benefit much the first few months. Ever since working with Chase, he has improved quickly within a few months. Chase makes him love tennis and he started to be able to play with me! We can't be happier to have the tennis fun together! We had our wedding reception there last summer and we eat there every ten days or so with her parents. The food is always fresh and prepared wonderfully. The layout is really neat and it's a great venue for parties and weddings. They have a huge pool out back and you can access the lake back there as well. One of our favorite things to do in high school was to rent kayaks and explore the lake. The staff are some of the best in the industry and the other members and their families are very nice. All in all, the Winter Park Racquet Club is top notch and we will continue to be members and support the club for years and years to come!

Since my parents don't really hold anything back when it comes to special occasions, I should have known that the club would be exceptional. And, of course, it was. I used to spend some time around this area a few years ago since one of my closer friends used to live here when she still lived at home with her parents. (Her father is a successful doctor of some sort.) I never knew that the club existed, though. It's nestled away in an extraordinarily nice neighborhood full of beautiful homes (one of which I am assuming is my friend's parents'; I can't remember which one it is), the vast majority of which had my friends and relatives in awe as we drove past them en route to the reception. Upon arriving for the reception, everyone went out back to the pool area, which is very spacious and had more than enough room for everyone who attended. (I think that there were at least 150 people ... maybe even closer to 200.) Beyond the pool area is a lake (according to Justin I.'s review, Lake Maitland) with a dock as well as a small beach which, by nighttime, had a bonfire. (I sat out by the fire for 15-20 minutes later that night - it was very nice, though it probably would be even more so during cooler months ... it just was very warm out this past Sat. evening.) Prior to the dinner and reception, everyone hung out by the pool. We were treated to great drinks and appetizers by the very accommodating and friendly staff. The inside of the club is very classy and extravagant. The furniture and decorations were even nicer than I was expecting. There was some great food (grilled jumbo shrimp with herbs and butter, caramelized sirloin steak au poivre, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese pasta bowls, a spring green salad & some excellent sides, including bread and butter) served and I probably would've eaten much more of it had I not been at the club's inside bar for much of my visit. The bar area is somewhat small (15-20 people probably could comfortably hang out there, though we had more for much of the time) but definitely served its purpose and, other than the dance/reception floor, often was considered as the central meeting point for some people. The bartenders inside were equally as accommodating as the ones outside. I hope to visit here again at some point. My mother told me that people who have their wedding reception here are invited back a year later for a return dinner, so we'll see. Hopefully, I'll be able to make it. Overall, having the reception here this past weekend was an excellent choice by my sister and her husband and I'm glad that my parents were able to financially support the decision. I was expecting great things from the club, but I had no idea how nice and elegant it was, and how wonderful of a neighborhood it would be in, until I physically arrived. It definitely exceeded my expectations and I'm sure that most other people who attended feel the same way.

I explained to the woman, who I was bringing with me, and she told me absolutely no problem. Man, I wish I knew her name. She was extremely helpful with everything. She helped us do the card machine, showing us how to use the batting controls, finding us a bat for my oldest son and father! We were there about 30 minutes and it cost us $20. We definitely got our moneys worth. When we are back in town, we will be head to Marucci's.
