This is by far the best gym you can go to. The people here are super nice and you work so hard here. I recommend Mike boyles.

I had a very positive experience at Boyle's. Very expensive, but they have really good equipment and facilities here.

This gym needs a little more love so here is my attempt at raising PF Woburn's star percentage. I…read morehave been a member at this location for three years and truly enjoy working out here. Keep in mind this is a no-frills, "get in and get it done" gym with memberships as low as $10 a month. This Planet Fitness location recently upgraded its interior with the addition of brand new machines. Before the upgrade I probably would have offered no more than three stars as the older equipment had seen better days, but I feel the addition of the new machines was a major improvement. For $10 a month PF Woburn offers all the machines necessary for a complete muscle-toning and cardio based workout plan including weight machines, free weights, treadmills, ellipticals, and more. There is also a private mat area for stretching and a few massage chairs for post workout relaxation. I appreciate the layout in comparison to other gyms due to the fact all machines face the opposite direction of the entrance. The forward facing set up allows for less eye contact with fellow gym goers. I tend to feel a little shy when too many eyes are on me so I feel more comfortable entering the gym and navigating around the machines with this layout. This gym is a bit more dimly lit than other Planet Fitness locations I have been to, but personally I prefer less lighting. The TVs are mounted high and somewhat far away which may be an issue for some. The gym usually appears pretty clean despite all the sweaty bodies. The air can feel a bit stuffy especially when busy, but I suppose this is normal for any gym atmosphere. Yes it is low key and a little dark, but I always feel comfortable here and that is important to me. The staff is friendly enough and will greet you upon arrival. This location never seems overcrowded and the machines I need are available without a wait. If you are looking for group classes, swimming pools, and saunas this is not the place for you. Planet Fitness Woburn does, however, offer a very convenient, effective, and affordable workout option.

I really enjoy this gym--my boyfriend and I have been members for some time now and the only…read moreproblem we ever had was with the TVs on the elliptical/treadmills not working (this was resolved long ago, thankfully!) They have a good number of cardio machines and weights along with a back room where you can watch work out programs (we really like this feature and have used it a few times). They also have bathrooms with showers (male and female). It's generally pretty quiet so we rarely have a hard time getting machines. The only reason I am docking them a star is because of their staffed hours. I understand they cannot be staffed 24/7, and I've personally never had a problem, but on a few occasions my boyfriend and I have been in the gym and noticed people loitering outside. On one occasion we left and the gentleman outside (who had been waiting outside for around 25 minutes) asked us if there was anyone inside and we said no. This was a Saturday and apparently he had called and they said they would be there from 11-3 (same hours posted on the door), but there it was 2:00 and no one was there. A similar event happened on another Saturday but it was earlier in the day, around 11:45 when we left the gym (again hours said 11:00-3:00) but no one was there. The poor guy had waited outside for quite some time and had obviously gone out of his way (we saw him go to his car, we can luckily walk over), only to find that no one was there to show him around/sign him up. Saturdays are obviously a busy day for sign ups/inquiries because a lot of people probably work late on weekdays and can't make it over. I think it would be a good idea to post signs on the door if the place won't be staffed as promised. Otherwise great gym! Maybe call ahead before you head down to sign up and make sure that someone will actually be there, though it seems they leave early sometimes so you never know?

The gym needs a huge upgrade. I have been to others Anytime Fitness gyms across the country and…read morethis one is among the worst. Only reason I go there: close home and I like the guys who work there.

Happy to see that this YMCA's website now finally does allow you to see how much membership…read morecosts---for a while they required you to share email & phone info in order to receive that info, after which they'd bombard you with nagging calls & emails if you didn't sign up immediately. Whew. Whoever came up with that bright idea, I hope no longer works there! I came back here out of curiosity after a good 1-2 years away after discovering the Waltham Y, which is about the same drive time from where i live (Arlington) but is open later and has a sauna which this Woburn location lacks (they do have a steamroom), and is generally a much more pleasant environment. Now it appears that Woburn Y has extended its hours so that it closes just 30 minutes earlier M-Thu (9:30pm), 1 hour earlier on Fridays (7pm), and the same time on Sat/Sun (6pm)...so they're almost there! Everything is about the same as I remembered, except they have moved the one squat cage in the main functional fitness/cardio central area to the front workout room next to two other squat cages, where all the free weights and the one pulley multi-station is, making it even more crammed/crowded than before. The weight plates are strangely mismatched, which makes things a bit awkward if you are using one of the squat stations at the same time as folks are on the other two squat stations as well as the leg press machine, all of which share this random (3 different kinds!) weight plate collection. Now, God help you if you come here to lift weights during the peak 5-7pm period: I swear, it's just as bad as Planet Fitness in terms of being packed in there like sardines! Must be hell whenever there's a flu, cold, or covid bug going around. Oh, and remember what I said about "too bad this place lacks a sauna"---well, actually it DOES have a sauna: i.e. this front weights area, where the AC either doesn't work or is kept at 82F!!! Yep, while the main central area was probably a very comfy 68-72F, pretty much everybody in this cramped little space was sweating buckets! Luckily the day I went, everyone must've remembered to use deodorant because nobody particularly stank...but I can imagine how bad it must be on those days when somebody does! It seems like this Y's management has made a conscious decision to relegate lifters to second-class status, keeping the largest and most pleasant space in the center of the gym, with floor-to-ceiling glass views of the swimming pool and main street, for the "functional fitness" and dubious Life Fitness strength machines users. I'm guessing it's for cold, hard dollars-and-cents economic reasons, i.e. to promote personal training. People who lift weights usually know what the hell they're doing and are far less likely to shell out $50-70/hour for personal training. So I did notice a number of personal trainers with their clients in that central area, but for the most part the it was far less densely packed than the front weights area. Sigh, capitalism...

At $19.99 a month (with no long term contracts), this is perfect for me. I can use the ellipticals, the bikes, the treadmills. And at this price, if I go three times a week, I'm still getting my money's worth. If you want glamor and glitz with a price tag to match, go to one of the "fancy" places. There are plenty of them out there. But if you're looking for a place to get in a workout without the nonsense, then check out this place. You won't be sorry!

Especially on a Sunday morning when lots of people are exercising, the gym gets quite cramped. As for the front desk workers, they often get confused whenever a problem with your membership or whatnot gets brought up. Aside from the occasional loud grunter, there are no annoying meat-heads to be found, as far as I know. Anyone from any age or any type of physique can join without intimidation.
