Be weary of a low bid here and concerned your project will cost more even without permission to proceed.

We drove to the local Firestone, but the wait would have been too long. The manager at Firestone suggested we try Herman Power Tire about a quarter mile down the road. I'm glad he did, because the fine folks at Herman Power came through for us. Despite the place being busy (a good sign), the lady at the counter assured us that the wait time would be minimal. She sympathized with our haste to continue on our trip and gave our case top priority. That was kind and unexpected. The lobby was homey and comfy with several leather recliners, a couch, a TV, a large freezer stocked with complimentary ice cream bars, and a table piled high with reading materials. I considered skimming the latest issue of "Good Housekeeping" but opted instead for something lighter: "The Holy Bible." Before I could finish reading about how I should be stoned publicly for practicing the occult and necromancy (Leviticus 20:27), the technician returned with some good news. He had found the culprit: a roofing nail imbedded in the left rear tire. He checked all four tires and completed the repair in less than thirty minutes. Even better: the entire bill was just $16, including tax! I seldom leave a review after just one visit, so I contemplated returning to Nacodoches next year, hammering a roofing nail into a different tire, and seeing if the service we received on our first visit was just a fluke. I really just wanted an excuse to try the complimentary ice cream and give it a scathing one-star review for containing carrageenan. My dad rejected that idea (stick in the mud), so I'll have to assume that the staff at Herman Power Tire are always so kind, helpful, and expedient. Our family was involved in an accident and chose to have S&W complete the repairs. Upon completion,…read moreS&W collected payment, oddly only $500, which we questioned - but were assured was the correct amount. This morning the vehicle involved was towed due to an unpaid balance, from the hospital as one of our family member was receiving Cancer treatments. The attempts to collect, according to S&W were "unsigned for / undelivered" letters and "voicemails" which they assure were left. We can confirm that when we were finally contacted (nearly 6 months after the work had been completed,) a very rude and unprofessional clerk threatened to take the issue "to the next level" if the balance was not settled - again any unpaid balance was a result of S&Ws error and was never contested on our part. There was no need for a threat, that was extremely unprofessional. In speaking to S&W moments ago, I attempted to provide all of the details, including our focus on Cancer treatment for a family member and absolutely no intent on not paying - again we were the ones who questioned the amount initally collected. It was however made crytal clear that it was our responsibility ensure correct amount had been charged and the fact that the vehicle was towed from the hospital was not their concern and the owner of S&W could not be expected to "eat the cost" of the towing fee - we however, a local working family - could. I reiterate, the unpaid balance was never contested and it was also not communicated via a confirmed communication, when finally communicated it was done so via a threat eventhough the mistake was initially S&Ws. Please think twice when choosing where to send your business. Not all local businesses operate in an ethical manner nor are concerned about the effect of their mistakes/actions on the community in which they prospered from. EDIT: We've now happily settled the oustanding initial balance and VERY reluctantly paid the towing fee - the vehicle is needed for transport to/from cancer treatments and work and S&W did not seem at all moved to even compromise on the amount. I was also told that while my story was factual, if I did not remove / change my comments that they may be forced to respond. I assume they meant respond to my post, but you can never be too safe so I've slightly modified my post and paid the balance. Be aware of where you spend your hard earned $....
