But, I ordered a Pepsi and I got a Cherry-Pepsi - I not against Cherry-Pepsi, but when you order a drink you want that drink - (Actually, I wanted a Coke, but for some reason, this restaurant has a aversion to Coke - (Not sure why, PPG Arena (Go Pens) just converted from RC Cola to Coke - YEAH!) Now, I think there were 5 or 6 people at Redbeard's, went out of their way to understand why the Pepsi fountain was delivering Cherry-Pepsi - It appears that the issue (according to the team at Redbeard's) it has to do with the Syrup delivered by their vendor. It was also noted that the Pepsi fountain system is so old, that there is no one in Pittsburgh who knows how to repair it. So, I think this would be a Great Opportunity to get a new system in and change to Coke. PS - When the change occurs, add in Dr. Pepper and get rid of Orange-Crush - (Cherry-Pepsi is NOT Dr. Pepper) PSS - Just asking, when is the customer right? They were so nice and unlike another local establishment, they had no problem seating meat out table alone so I could relax and enjoy an Arsenal and water while reading my Kindle to relax between shows. The food was good. Even their fries were okay. It's hard to find decent fries. The service was wonderful until shift change (right when my folks arrived). Before and after that, we got very good service. Even water refills were kept up. The restaurant is loud even when almost empty (as it was when I first arrived), but they were blasting a basketball game. I listened to music on headphones to block out the squeaky shoes until the rest of my party arrived. Though it's on their website now, the Lent menu is ONLY available Ash Wednesday & Fridays in Lent, which was a bummer, but a lot of restaurants do that. read more

Our group of work friends snagged an outside table for lunch on a perfectly warm and low humidity day; a rarity to be seized and enjoyed in Pittsburgh. Everyone loved their sandwiches that included the Chicken Parm, a Turkey Wrap, and Grilled/Fried Chicken Wraps. When I heard the waitress mention the bacon on the Turkey Wrap, it seemed silly not to add it to my Grilled Chicken Wrap. The chicken was moist inside and the skin was crispy. The Cajun dry rub is like a medium spice level Inside out Grilled cheese 10/10 Really good grilled cheese. We are in town for the Steelers v Packers game and the bar was across the street from our hotel. We walked in and were told 1-1.5 hours for a seat and the bar is SRO. We went to the bar. We were offered a table in less than an hour but held out for two seats at the bar. They have 8 TVs downstairs. They identify what games on which TV with little team helmets. The wait staff is so nice and friendly. They were short a bartender and one of the servers began cutting limes to help out. It was nice to see the team atmosphere in action. The owner went behind the bar to help out and keep the bartender sane. We finally sat at the bar to eat - we were NOT disappointed. Hubby had the Ruben - piled high and delicious. The fries were so hot, I popped it in my mouth and burned my tongue. I had a little wait for my wings but the wait was worth it. I had wet with light buffalo sauce. The wings were big, like the size of two normal wings. The sauce was perfect. The owner and his sister are so sweet. Fully recommend this place if you are in the area. If it is a game day, don't let the wait time through you off. It is worth the wait in quality food and swervice. p.s. My hubby said the bathroom was very clean. We came here late night and as we walked in Brett informed us that the kitchen was closed but the bar was still open. Totally loved this because everything here, their kitchen closed at 11pm and this whole weekend here we tried to find food around 11pm most night. Brett was super accommodating and friendly. Really felt that he was a manager here and he supported his bartender Danielle. Love that and he supported her the whole night cause she was the only bartender. While out on the town for the evening with friends we stopped in here for some final drinks on a weeknight. Bartender was friendly. The place was clean, especially for a "dive bar" type of bar. I rarely write restaurant reviews, but I feel strongly enough about this experience that I felt compelled to share it. My husband and I are from New York, but as Pittsburgh fans, we traveled to the city to watch some Penguins hockey. We chose this establishment because it appeared to offer good food, drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere--but unfortunately, that was not the case. After ordering a round of drinks and an order of wings, we settled in to watch the Pittsburgh Penguins game. However, midway through the first period, we realized the audio playing throughout the bar was for a Texas football game--not the hometown hockey game. Considering that most of the patrons were wearing Pittsburgh gear, I assumed it would be reasonable to request that the sound be switched to the Penguins game. When I asked the bartender, she kindly explained that she would need to check with the manager. I decided to speak to him directly and politely asked if the volume could be changed to the Penguins game. I was told that the bar was "advertising as a football bar for Thanksgiving weekend," and therefore my request would not be accommodated. Another guest even called out in support of playing the Penguins audio, but we were completely ignored. I asked a second time, noting that the majority of customers appeared to be watching the hockey game, and that--being in Pittsburgh--it seemed appropriate to play the hometown team's audio. The manager responded in an unexpectedly disrespectful manner, unlike anything I've experienced at any bar or restaurant. I do want to acknowledge the two blonde female bartenders, who were wonderful and sincerely apologetic. Despite their kindness, we chose to cancel our second food order and head to another bar--one that was more than willing to play the sound for a Pittsburgh game in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will not be returning and advise any Pittsburgh fan to do the same. Major thumbs down for the manager. read more

Red Beards was a good place for beers and appetizers. The wings and nachos were very good and they definitely filled us up. The wings were a good size and weren't overly saucy which we prefer. The thing that stood out about the nachos were the fresh jalapeños which added a spicy kick which we also enjoy. We ate in their outdoor section which was sort of small but has a good atmosphere. They had TVs so we caught some of the Pirate game. Our server was on top of everything even with party of 6+ people. Definitely recommend stopping here if you're on Mt. Washington. read more

This is the superior Redbeard's location. When you order Signature Sauce on wings you get sauce, not rub. Very nice bartender LaShelle was on top of it- had the chicken wings and they were cooked perfectly with a great taste. A bit of a small portion but we'll worth it. Walked in here out of desperation for a bar downtown to chill and watch the Pens game. Definitely never going back and wouldn't recommend. We seated at the bar and ordered some drinks but the bartender was such a lazy POS, didn't pay attention to the order, and upon almost finished making the drink, he turned to me and asked what I asked for... made no efforts in fixing it and kept making excuses for why he couldn't fix it. Redbeard's has the best pub food on Mt. Washington for sure! Good wings are hard to find around here, but Redbeard's are pretty damn great. Wednesday is wing night and they offer some awesome specials. They are always cooked perfectly and offer so many flavors. Last time I was at Redbeard's, I ordered the honey habanero, and let me tell you they were HOT. can't go wrong with classic buffalo. Their wing sauce makes a dope buffalo chicken wrap too! I'm a fan of redbeards. I've eaten here many many times over the last 6 years and have never had a bad experience. The menu is more of a "bar food" selection, but they do have some great choices. The salads are HUGE & every time I eat here, the fried pickles are a must. You also can't go wrong with one of their wraps. Wednesday is wing night & they always have daily drink specials. During the summer, they have a patio on the side, which is gated in. I always enjoy sitting out there. Wait staff is always friendly and the service is pretty quick. Sometimes I dislike eating inside though bc there aren't many windows, so it's dark. I prefer the Mt. Washington location over downtown. Quick walk to the overlook and parking usually isn't too hard to find, although you must remember to pay the meter. If you haven't tried Redbeards, give it a shot! A Mt. Red beards is a nice spot on Mount Washington. I feel as if the place is constantly steady and has great atmosphere. It is a great place to kickback and chill with your brotein shakes (woman are my bros as well). Most of the time I go here on Wednesday for wing night. They have a great selection on wings. If i had to compare it to something I would say it is what hinge is for dating apps. Tinder has too much going on and too many different people. Coffee and Bagel doesnt have enough peope and it has a weird atmosphere for an app. I would say Hinge is a very tasteful selection between the two. And that is what red beard's wing selection is like. I have no complaints on all the different flavors I tried. I really like the Giddy up wins with the horsey sauce, and I like the Red Beards Signature... i was kinda expecting an autograph on the wing with the red beards signature, but it's fine. We came here for brunch today. They had a very limited menu, not surprising considering it's a sports bar. I got French toast with blueberries on it and sausage on the side. The French toast was on good thick bread, it was a little eggy but Was still decent. The sausage was okay, tasted like a sweet Italian sausage in patty form. The food was good but nothing special. I've been here a few times before for happy hours or dinner and it was always really good. If I didn't have many other options I would come back for brunch but I will probably stick to happy hours and lunch/dinner. read more

One of my favorite spots on the mount. They do the name "sports bar" justice..great spot to watch a Steelers game (or any sporting event for that matter). Plenty of tvs and you have a great view from anywhere in the house. Food wise, their wings are my favorite in Pittsburgh. Stopped here for a few drinks, an appetizer, and watch the Pro Bowl Game. There were plenty of tvs to watch the game, we found a table for the 3 of us with no issue, and a waiter came over right away to take our drink order. Fun place to hangout and spend time with friends. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. We got the loaded nachos and they were good. I would have liked them with a little more ingredients, but I still enjoyed them and it was the perfect size for 3 people. On my second visit I ordered the Big Game burger, it was cooked well and had bacon and cheese, but didn't have a ton of flavor. In my opinion, it was typical bar food, which isnt neceasarily a bad thing, just dont expect to be blown away by the food. I can see myself coming back here for happy hours in the future. read more

We have been patrons of this establishment for 10+ years, less frequently visit now because we moved and not as convenient for us. Over the years they have made good improvements both inside and outside, as well as a change with their menu. The service is pretty typical for a bar/restaurant. Seating can be a hit or miss during game nights. They have a wing special, but it isn't the cheapest you will find, BUT they do offer more wing flavors then most places in these parts! The "great balls of Fire" is something I recommend ordering on the side because it really is spicy (and I know my spicy)! Other items on their menu, such as their sandwiches are very good as well. The servings are very good with every plate. They do offer private parties for the outside area with a booking and meal options for guests. So my friends and I came here for a quick drink on a Thursday night. One got a sex on the beach one got rum and pineapple juice and two of us got sex on the beach with grenadine. All of our drinks were unfinished because they were so gross it tasted like the drinks were watered down yet there wasn't enough juice either I don't know how that is possible?? We also got some appetizers, boneless bbq wings traditional mild wings fries and fried zucchini.
