    Smack Yo Mama
    Sadie M.

Wow... What inexperience... This place really does live up to everything you hear about it on social media... Great vibes and really cool industrial decor. Lively atmosphere with a busy brunch crowd. And the food... Oh my goodness... I ordered the "smack yo mama" sandwich and it lives up to its name... The barbecue chicken was absolutely delicious, impaired with the cheese blend and fried onion straws, it was a perfect combo. The tomato you've had some great flavor as well. Just a great dining experience overall! Check out my video review on TikTok and Instagram!

I went on my lunch break with a coworker. She had been talking about this salad for weeks!! We both ordered the Pittsburgh steak salad and it hit the spot. I see why she couldn't stop talking about it! I know they are known for the grilled cheese but this was so good!! The staff was great!! And it wasn't super busy on a Monday at lunch. We sat down right away!

4/8/25 Ate List: The Big Che-bowski- 7.8 Serious sandwich. Big bite needed for this one. Egg on it wasn't gooey or runny but was still tasty. The flavor combination with the Tomato Soup for dipping was a stupendous flavor bomb. Once I tried it, I couldn't eat the sandwich on its own and had to dip. Tots were solid. Some more cooked than others. Still good. Likely will come back. Might try something else.

The food is great I don't like tomato's or soup but I literally guzzled there tomato soup the pierogis are incredible which they were a great 1st pierogi the staff is fun and sweet but referred to me as kiddo very comfortable vibe but also still a fun bar vibe but a tamed one and it's silly there a sign that says soup of the day and it's whisky with h20 croutons. The coups are cute too little glass mugs it's super duper nice great for a sports game definitely recommend the smack yo mama sandwich

Gourmet grilled cheese with two beef patties. Sorry I don't remember the name.

Had dinner here on December 31 at 5 PM stood for a minute or two. Waiting for the hostess (gabby) to turn around after I said, excuse me three times. Caught the attention of a waitress in the distance who made surewe were seated after the hostess walked away from us. Our waitress was Brianna. I think? Good service, but she didn't come back to check to see how our food was. Which it was very good. We both had gourmet grilled cheese with two beef patties and caramelized onions. My waffle fries were a little bit overcooked. But the sandwich in the soup made up for everything. I would suggest this place before or after any type of events in town if you want to keep it low-key.

Good atmosphere and plenty of beers on tap. Wish I'd chosen one of the many grilled cheese on the menu. Smash Burger came on a huge very bready bun that I think ruined the burger. Tots were greasy and an awful mess. How do you screw up tots???

Nice place for drinks and sandwiches. Are food was really good but the service was a bit slow. Very noisy and a bit crowded as well.

We came on a weekend for lunch and they were quite busy. It took a while to be seated, but once we got seated service was very prompt. I like all things grilled cheese. I tried the Yinz Guys Hungry sandwich. It had great flavors, but fell short on the Pittsburgh theme. The waffle fries were soggy because it's next to a slice of tomato. There was also barely any Cole slaw on it. The grilled cheese toasts tasted so good though, it more or less made up for it. This looks like a great place to hang out. I would come back and try a different sandwich.

Great food, be in the mood for handhelds. Definitely mixes your inner child with adult cravings with the grilled cheeses. Great meal for a cold pregame meal

I normally have a great experience at The Yard this time not so much. I would blame it on the crowdedness but I've come during games and brunch without issue. This time there was an issue with my server getting food to us. It took him awhile to even take our orders and once he did he put one order in wrong. I would not even complain but I was with two little ones so the added wait caused a meltdown. I would not have even been bothered by the mistake had the correct food not been sitting in the window for some time while he conversed with two guests. We did finally get our last meal and was comped the cost of it. Although not expecting it it was appreciated. I tipped because he was nice but hopefully he will socialize less next time and focus on his table.

LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good. GF ordered a spritz which was gorgeous "it was good". For second round, I picked out some uranium thing that was very cucumbery, GF says, "it was good". I just read it outloud to her. "it's true!" Fantastic meal at a great place.

This is a great place to entertain and throw some money at the wall to see if it sticks. If it doesn't stick - Fine - You'll still have a lovely meal. As I mentioned in a prior review, I was in these Pittsburgh parts to chat, to brighten the mood and to lend some of my low-end very niche expertise when called upon in order to showcase my stature as a boy with potential to become a man. I start blurting out a fat NY Italian accent. Really playing into my "roots." Folly into the youth of myself as to remind others of what they miss on the day to day. I subtly went into takeover mode as a few others couldn't hang nor could they entertain. I casually allowed everyone else to order as I respectfully decided not to fill my face in this fine establishment unless called upon to complete a plate. We basically tried everything on the menu so I have a true right to throw five stars. Tried every cheese. Scallops, crab cakes and the tartare were best apps, calamari solid as well. Of the salads I'd opt for whichever had the crème fraiche dressing. Of the entrees the standout was the short rib, but the strip steak did some business as did the black cod. We tried every single dessert as well. The candy bar was a crowd favorite, followed by the tart and toffee pudding. Now imagine this, all different taste buds across many differently lands (but not seas.) Everyone please with their meals. But does it really matter if they were? No. You care about if Linguini was pleased. Pleased I was. If I were to do it again, I'd drop the company - but keep the company card ya feel me? Real nice meal.
