I have had so many repairs done at Mikes Automotive I can't really tell you how many. Mike is awesome to deal with along with his complete staff. I was so impressed with Mike that the company I worked for I was able to have him manage the fleet of vans we had. All I can say is that if you need a reputable place to have any car repairs from big to small Mike's is the place to go. Took 2 and a half hours to show up and tow my car, which had a flat tire. By the time they got here, the auto shop was closed, so I had to miss work today. If that weren't bad enough, at 11:00 last night, the police knocked on my door to let me know my car was left with its door wide open and my things had obviously been rummaged through. I called to inform the woman who dispatched the call, who evidently works for Lombard, their sister store, and said she'd call me back in a few minutes. She never did, so I called back a few hours later, and she immediately put me on hold, never called back. Called Mike's directly, who also put me on hold and never called back. One of their tow truck drivers almost hit my wife as she was pulling out of our driveway as he was obviously traveling way to fast down our road. He pulled up along side her at an intersection and menaced her threatening to get out of the car. She called me very upset and I went down to Mike's to speak to a manager...got the run around, no one matching the description my wife gave worked there...etc. The old Miles was great....the new Mike's seems to employ criminally minded people who do not take responsibility for poor actions. Jeep had rear end done, rear end failed, towed back and they don't want to warranty the work, it's going to be the 3rd time rear diff is rebuilt. SMH Update: pinion and bearing were installed too tight, metal shavings everywhere inside differential fluid, and the fluid was under filled , this isn't covered under warranty? I recently brought my vehicle there thing I would receive same results almost 800.00 later and the next day the same indicator lights on dash lit up. There are new owners since Mike passed and this place is a train wreck! Poor and sloppy work, terrible customer service if any at all......also think nothing obviously about lying to the customer about the progress of the work..... all new staff (the old staff all walked out ) and they have no idea what they're doing, I'd be afraid to drive anything they worked on and I'd been with Mikes since he had opened! They knew better than to put up an "under new management" sign. If they did, I would never have brought my car to them. They have terrible, terrible customer service skills. They Don't return calls, and don't provide updates. They had my car for three days. On day one, they did the repairs I requested, with the addition of a 400.00 car battery, they said I needed. Day two the car went back because they gave it to me with a warning light lit on the dash. Picked it up they said "Oh it was a loose plug" The Light was still lit when I got in the car and now the dash and radio display don't work. I asked to have the manager call me, but he never did. I called him, he said "he was so sorry, bring it back on Monday" Monday, never got a call about the status, nothing new they didn't the first two days either. When they finally answered the phone, once I called from a blocked number, they said " we can't fix it you need to go to the dealer" . I stated how unsatisfied I was with their service and they swore the Manager/Owner Frank would call me . NOTHING! Save yourself the runaround. DON"T GO HERE. Mike has passed away and Heather sold the business. So it's not the service you remember which is a shame because Mike always had a great reputation and great customer service. read more

When someone bringd a car to a mechanic or shop, when paying for a diagnostic, one expects to get the entire list of those problems, when your told of only 1 of supposed 2,and they keep your car for 2 weeks to where you almost loose your job, to then be told the car is "ready", then leave to find there is still an issue, the same issue .... Then have to call to find out now some thing else is being blamed (not told at the diagnoses conversation, or during pickup), this is why people fear mechanics regarding honesty, competencies etc. Never will I step foot there again. And word of mouth is powerful, esp in small places as it won't be forgotten. read more

I had a serious problem with my brakes and had to get them looked at right away ( screeching and squeaking is never good) When I called, the person who took my call told me to come over with the car. I could see they were busy, but I didn't have to wait long at all. I was told my rear brakes needed to be fixed and it would be done by the following afternoon. As promised, the job was completed in a timely manner and for a fair price. This will now be my go to place for any car repairs. read more

I've had my car serviced here many times. Mike (Monaco) is almost always the one that calls me with the notification about the repair and spends a refreshingly large amount of time explaining what's going on rather than just rattling off a quote and a bottom line. I've had a few 'mystery' problems that he's asked me to take him for a ride so I could demonstrate the problem on the road. A great local shop and he works like a chooch. He's there 7am to 7pm every weekday and you'll catch him there almost every weekend too. read more

25 minutes ago Mike's was called from a State Farm Insurance Emergency Roadside Service program. They are expected to provide towing service within 60 minutes of being assigned the tow. I called Mike's directly and the confirmed that I would see a truck within an hour of the assignment. I waited an hour + and no tow truck. I called Mike's back and was told that they still had 30 minutes on their timer. When I explained that I was told that the truck would arrive in 60, over an hour ago, the dispatcher changed her story and said that she had 90 minutes. When I persisted, she said she wasn't going to argue and that she was cancelling the tow. It's my opinion that communication is very poor at Mike's. It also seems like their systems don't work and that their dispatchers aren't customer friendly. I am going to file a complaint with State Farm and I hope that others will not have to deal with the incompetence and unfriendly service from Mike's. read more

Mike is incredibly rude. Maybe he was having a bad day, or just didn't like me. But as soon as I asked any questions he was acting like I was killing him to do his job. He treated me like I was stupid for asking any questions. He was just sitting at his desk the whole time, on his computer, yet when I had anything to say he acted like I was wasting his precious time. A guy came in and he was really nice to him. And he asked some of the same questions that I did! Maybe it's sexism, ageism, or maybe something else. But I wouldn't go here ever again, just because of the horrible customer service. read more

Mike is always so amazing when fixing my car and he knows my car is very important being a single working mom, he always gives me a great time frame when the car will be done and he always gives me a good price. I've been getting my car fix from him for 12 years, I did go through another place before and they would never fix my car and they would still charge me.
