Bicycle Pedaler - In this photo, you can see that the rubber brake pad that the "mechanic" tried to puch back in place didn't even contact the rim squarely.

Very POOR experience with this shop on a simple bike repair…read more I took my bike in to the Bicycle Pedaler in Wichita, Kansas, for a new tube. The teenager who was supposedly the "bike mechanic" on duty wasn't sure which direction to turn the nuts to loosen the wheel and turned them the wrong way at first. Then he had a lot of trouble getting the rim out of the frame. After he got the new tube installed, he inflated the tire to full pressure and then tried to force it back into place on the frame, ripping a brake pad loose from the caliper. He half-heartedly pressed the pad back on, but it was not secure. At that point, the brake pads weren't aligned to press on the rim on both sides - one was actually pressing on the tire, until I mentioned that it should press on the RIM. I was watching all this but he never admitted to accidentally busting the rubber brake pad loose. When I got home, I had to get the rim straight in the frame again, adjust the derailleur (which would not shift smoothly after the "mechanic" replaced the tube), and for safety reasons, I put a new set of brake pads on the calipers. As you can see from the photos, the "mechanic's" attempt to reinsert the pad did not re-seat it securely and NO WAY was I going to rely on that to stop with when it looked like the pad could come out. Considering my own time to fix the issues my bike had from being "repaired" by this shop, plus the cost of a new pair of brake pads, and I should have just installed the new tube myself. No plans to go back to the Bicycle Pedaler.

This was one of the first places we stopped and the experience here (and the bike) stuck with me the rest of the day. At the end of the long journey I bought my first bike here. Ten years later, I bought a Trek Checkpoint from a friend so I could start doing some gravel riding. Last week Patrick helped me get the bike fit, pick out a sweet pair of clipless shoes, teach me how to use the clipless shoes, and how to clean the bike properly for optimal bike performance. Patrick was great to work with. What also impressed me more was his ability to multitask. Between assisting me, he was able to greet, socialize, and take care of several other customers. Each customer had a different personality, a different bike, and different needs. Patrick guided them to the right team member, or part they needed, and they were on their way. If you're reading this, you probably read a lot of the one star reviews too. Go in with an open mind and give these guys a shot. If you're anything like me, you'll be glad you did.

It took eight months to get the motorcycle back, and when we did, the paint was done incorrectly and the bike wouldn't even turn over. We brought it back, hoping they'd make things right -- instead, it took another two months. When we finally picked it up again, the brake lights didn't work, the shift lever was placed higher than the primary cover, and the levers and grips had all been moved. The bike was still not properly repaired. The owner, Paul, was extremely unprofessional throughout the entire process. When we tried to address the issues, he became rude, dismissive, and even mocked me. He refused to let us start the bike before leaving his shop, and said he was done working on it -- despite never fixing it correctly in the first place. After months of waiting and thousands of dollars tied up in insurance repairs, we're left with a bike that still isn't right. I would never recommend Savage Cycles to anyone. Their lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for their customers is beyond unacceptable
