The guy on the phone literally hung up on me while I was asking for help. It was a completely normal conversation until the last fifteen seconds when he got randomly impatient and then hung up. I'll never go to this place or do business with them. If you don't have the patience for a 2 minute phone call (that's exactly how long it was on my recent calls), then I doubt you'll be friendly or patient enough in person. A quaint little bike shop off the brick street Mosely in Oldtown. The proprietor is really knowledgeable about bikes and has a good selection of parts and extras. It seems to be a busy shop considering all the bikes in the repair or tune up department. Kind of reminds me of the bike repair shops in Denmark, just a little bigger. We ride a lot and push for more paths and bicycle friendly streets here in Wichita, as it is with the more progressive cities across America. These establishments encourage cycling therefore we like to support them. You might be able to save a couple dollars at Wallmart, but it's not worth it. Shopping here and chatting with the owner is just fun, and if you need a tuneup this is the place to go. Some of the sporting good stores offer this but your likely to end up worse off than you were. Point is, trust your safety to the professionals. read more

Bit disappointed... particularly since they were friendly (dang it).... stock seemed thin~ not very many good road frames though they appear to have the room (nice big space). Saw a Gunnar and then lots of China bikes. : ( They did have an Independent Fabrication bike but it was a fixie...boo. Very few shoe options, etc...but maybe they haven't received their Spring shipments yet (or they are shooting for a specific price point). They did seem to have a big repair department, even offering repair workshops, which is helpful. read more

Not impressed with this place. Probably, not a good idea to push your agenda on a new customer. I want to start riding on the road. An older gentleman (employee) told me that I should not ride on road because he got hit. He also knew others that got hit. He push their hybrid bike. I already told the guy I had a mountain bike. I really want to like this place as Bryan, I assume he's the owner because he is there every time I stop in, is really friendly. I left my daily commuter here on a Saturday to have shifter cable repaired, and that was done well for a fair price. My complaint is timing and follow through. I was told it would be done Monday, Tuesday at the latest. I called Monday afternoon, and was told it was , "not done yet but done tomorrow no problem." I came by after work Tuesday to it pickup and it was, not done yet. While Heartland can not be blamed for ICT's bus schedule, I now had to call around and find a ride. Being quick learner I called Wednesday afternoon before missing last bus and was told it was done. Two hours later, I went pick it up, and it was not done. While I only had to wait ten more minutes for it to be finished, and was able to ride home, I had been told something other than the truth again. In summary: good selection (the review here stating otherwise is wrong), good work, good price and friendly but to the point that they will tell you "good news" to the point of lying about if and when work is done. read more

I purchased a Giant bike from Byron at Heartland Bicycle. The bike was ordered from the manufacturer, and unfortunately, I found a big chip in the paint once I got the bike home. Byron offered a discount or to get a replacement ordered. I chose the replacement, and I was pleased with the customer service and support I received. The staff is knowledgeable and willing to listen and offer advice about the type of bike that will best fit your riding needs. This is a cool shop owned by a dude that rides (when he is not working). There's a little bit of everything here... lots of parts and affordable to high-end rides. If they don't have what you need, remember most parts and and different size bikes can be ordered quickly. If you want to feed a local business that is a smart move. read more

Searched all over Wichita for a new low cost bike. This was my next to last stop. I was not expecting much as everywhere I went had 1 or 2 near but not at my price range. However Heartland had a good selection and the sales guy was helpful. Although he did always tell of the features of the next model up, he mentioned it just so you could compare. Went to this store after visiting bicycle exchange I made the mistake of buying A bike from this store had nothing but problems.. The customer service from the owner is sooooo bad I will tell all my friends to never buy anything from this place!!!!!!!
