For a dive drive in this was very good We decided to eat inside because we had been driving for 4 hours. 1st our waitress was great (sat dec 28th 2pm) She had 3 tables inside & 2 cars outside, she didn't seem to have much help. She was making shakes refilling drinks and bringing out the food with a smile. She also let us know we could take a delicious root beer for the road because we get 1 free refill. Clean atmosphere and very friendly service. Food, meh. My mother ordered the fish basket and it was good. Good seasoning on the breading and the upgrade to the onion rings was a good idea. I got a single hamburger and it was nothing but a frozen thin patty with a cold bun. Husband got the Italian beef horseshoe. Evidently no Italians work here because the meat was tasteless. Went there several years ago when it was Mike's. The Bar BQ was meat w/ barbeque sauce spread on top. What happened to mugs of root bear. The glass that I was served was slightly bigger than a shot glass. Will not go back. read more

I had a barbecue sandwich. My wife had a hamburger and then we split some onion rings. The barbecue could've had a lot more meat on it. It was good just needed a little bit more substance. The burger was nothing special. The root beers and a mug were absolutely great and the service was very very good. Waitress was great! read more

As a few others have commented, I stopped here while driving through on a road trip out west. I wanted to try something different that was not a chain, but thought if it didn't work out, I could just go to Sonic. I was very pleased with my order (a burger and tots). It was exactly what I wanted AND the tomato was real, thickly sliced. I wouldn't have gotten the same at Sonic, I'm guessing. The car hop brought out salt and pepper shakers so I could season to taste and was very friendly. When I was passing back through, I thought briefly about stopping again, but I wasn't hungry at the time. However, I would definitely come back, when I'm in the area again. read more

Let me begin by saying that this is 4 stars for fast food, not overall cuisine... So my family and I stopped here on a road trip when I wanted something that I couldn't get at home. I was much happier with this than I would have been at the McDonald's or Hardies down the road. Friendly, relatively quick service. The fries were crinkle and crispy, just needed a bit of salt. My double cheeseburger was great - very cheesy. The husband said his Italian beef was ok. But still, better than a typical fast food joint and definitely a new experience, which is what I'm looking for when on a trip. read more

NEGATIVE FIVE STARS!!!!! Over an hour wait to get a cheeseburger that was cold by the time it got here, and a horseshoe where the cheese had hardened into a plastic shell. The toast under the horseshoe was just mush because it sat so long. The real problem was we were ignored for 15 minutes while the waitress took everyone's orders outside before getting to us. I counted, 6 outside customers and two inside customers were helped before we were, even though the waitress acknowledged us and said she'd be right with us. I guess that Mikes isn't first come first served? Interesting way to run a business. I will not come here ever again, and tell everyone I know how poorly this place is run and how bad the food is. Also, it's not real classy when the waitresses are standing right behind your table complaining about not getting any tips because "we are too busy." Nice one. read more

The Root Beer mugs have been downsized to little bigger than a shot glass. I asked for Bar B Que sandwich and what I got was unknown meat with sauce squirted on it. La Fiesta in town is much better. read more

We didn't read any reviews or anything before stopping, but thought it would be nice to support a local business and stop somewhere non-chain on our way through town. It was not!!!! Employees were nice and friendly. But waited over 30 minutes for our food. Onion rings were just over cooked batter ... no onion and no good! Burger patties were paper thin and cold. Good burgers but not great. The only problem with them is that they aren't seasoned. However, they use velveeta cheese on their burgers which makes the burger. They also have good sloppy BBQ (sauce is mixed in the BBQ) and regular BBQ sandwiches. Their signature items are their homemade Rootbeer, which has no equal, and their fried cauliflower. Went there a couple of weeks ago to get some burgers and bbqs and root beer for me and some friends, got the bbqs out, they had CHEESE on them. Someone in our group can't have cheese so she just didn't eat (who would've dreamed we needed to say no cheese on a BBQ?) Not to mention the meat was cheap all fat. Yuck! The burgers didn't even fill out the bun so it was mostly bun with a little bit of meat, and last but not least the root beer tasted old and really watered down. American burger joint with homemade rootbeer. Closed recently for awhile for updates and an ownership change but came back good as ever. Staff are friendly but can get rather busy rather quick. Ample seating and can dine in your car with a tray if you like. The menu has been almost cut in half from before but the food is still good. Really long wait. We waited 1.5 hours for two cheeseburgers-- there didn't appear to be any sort of management. Food wasn't bad though!
