First time visit. I arrived on Friday a little after noon and the parking lot was packed. Also a line to order. The dining area is kind of like a shed attached to the kitchen. I was there on a chili day and it was quite cozy. WARNING no public restrooms! There is a Porto potty in the parking lot, so be prepared if you are visiting from out of the area. You order at a window and they call your name at another. The line moves a little slow but orders come out fairly quickly. You can see them slicing up the meats from the order window. Everything I saw being sliced looked good. I got a half rack of ribs. I think that was 7 bones. A pretty substantial serving. The first thing I noticed was the bark on the meat. They put a pretty thick coating of rub on the meat before it is smoked and it tastes so good. I had asked for bbq sauce (you do have to ask), but after tasting the meat I'd say adding sauce detracts from the taste. The rib meat was extremely tender, not common with smoked ribs, but extremely fatty. So the meat was outstanding but all the fat knocked it down a notch to me. I guess the fattiness snd tenderness are related, but it was still a little much. I had hoped that the had Texas red chili. They did have chili the day I went, but they called it brisket chili. It was pretty good. Honestly I was full from the ribs and took most of the chili home. It had just the right amount of heat. I had creamed corn and bbq beans for sides. I over did it here and should have canceled at least one side. The creamed corn was outstanding. I'm not sure I've ever had better. The cream was very thick and extremely well seasoned. I'd stop in again just for this alone. The beans were, I think, very molasses based. I didn't really care for them and wouldn't get them again. I will definitely return. Not sure I'd get ribs. Probably should try brisket at a Texas bbq place.

Been wanting to try Blazing Trails Texas BBQ for awhile now and finally got to get out there. Let's start with all the good. The prices are on point. It has been the best Q I've had in southern Illinois other than mine. ( I'm kinda biased) the sauce was great all the meat was good when I was all I did order all the meat. Only did 2 sides apple slaw was good. The smoke Mac and cheese had good flavor but noodles a little over cooked for myself. The bad They are only open 2 days a week to start. Then and it's hard to keep turkey moist but it was good. So I would recommend great atmosphere great people and good food.

The stars of the show, that Dayum bologna sammmich, the Mac cheese, and the jalapeno cheddar sausage....FYEEEE... These 3 stole everything...Put a lil of that hot BBQ sauce on the bologna sandwich...I also ordered burnt ends, half rack ribs (didn't know they would be baby backs), and baked beans... The ends are a strong 3 start..They would be a 4 if they would leave the sauce off.. The ribs are a 3 star.. And the baked beans, it's a strong nahhhh for me...Those beans aren't beanin.. Not welcome at the cook out.. however, the ambiance is stupe tho...I would build it at the house..

Let's get one thing straight. I LOVE barbecue, and this, is DAMN good barbecue. Walking in for the first time, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, and we had some regulars come in behind us, so we let them pass us in line while we looked at the menu, trying to decide what to eat, because we wanted to try everything they had. We mentioned we were unsure, and one of the regulars said "oh you can't go wrong with anything here." I was pensive at first because of the lack of a major internet presence, but their Facebook page is really well done and they really know what they are doing with barbecue. We ended up settling on the brisket nachos, bread pudding, Cowboy Mac with burnt ends, and a 1/3 pound of brisket. We will DEFINITELY be coming back, as everything was fresh and excellent. Service was really fast as well. They recently added covered seating, and it was a quite comfortable temperature inside when it was rather cold outside. We will a DEFINITELY be coming back, as this is easily some of the best food I've had in Southern Illinois so far, as well as being some of the best barbecue I have ever had period.

Great BBQ. Family run. Counter service. Down-home country vibe. Brisket, burnt ends and smoked turkey were all great.

Everyone in town was there, but thankfully we came in at the end of the rush. The staff was very nice and we got seated pretty quickly. It did take at least 10-15 min for our order to be taken and another 20-25 minutes for it to come out. A little too long in my opinion for a bbq place. Ordered the sampler platter and shared it and for the price, you can't buy really beat it. Turkey, ribs, brisket, sausage, and pulled pork along wish a side of beans and fries is what I ordered. The star of the show was the turkey. Had really good seasoning and smoke flavor. The most disappointing was the pork. It was dry and stringy and lacked flavor. The ribs didn't have very much flavor, however my son disagreed and the brisket didn't have any bark. It was a little tough and sliced thin like deli meat. Wasn't the worst I have had though. Some places in stl are way worse. All that to say that it's average considering the location.

I don't think Riley's is there yet. BBQ preferences are highly personal but there are regional expectations. Sauces and rubs are a couple of examples. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and fries. The pork came wet (sauced) with an option of mild or spicy. I chose mild. The order arrived quickly and I pounced on a mouthful of...what was that? I'd latched onto a mouthful of vinegar. The Midwest is the sweet sauce capitol of US BBQ. Using a vinegar sauce here should probably come with an early warning. Each bite was sour followed by a little sweetness. It didn't work. I suspect the meat was doused with vinegar and finished with sauced buns: Edge pieces were milder and smoky. Chow-chow was also an option on the sandwich. I took it on the side. A Southern pickled vegetable relish, Riley's version tasted like chopped onions and pickle juice added to a LOT of yellow mustard. The mustard, vinegar, and sweet sauce on the sandwich must make a terrible and confused taste. Fries had a crispy coating. They needed more seasoning and some salt helped. Riley's has dine-in, take-out, and drive-thru service. Indoor COVID precautions were mixed. Socially distanced tables, required masks, and masked employees were in place but there was no plexiglas partition at the checkout.

Order wasn't correct, even after server repeated the order. They still got it wrong. Don't even…read morebother with this place

We were greeted by a lovely young lady working the register who took our order and we sat down at our assigned table. We were quickly served our drinks and waited for our overly large order (we wanted to try lots of things). The ribs were delicious. Just enough smoke (this is not Texas BBQ) and so juicy. My husband's pulled pork was very good and thankfully did not come sauced already. The turkey very moist and tender and flavorful. Yum. The burnt ends were a little dry, but can be forgiven because it was near the end of the night. We were checked on frequently, drinks refilled. Then we had the opportunity to meet Susan, the owner. It taste like potato salad and and deviled egg had a baby. Never seen such a creation but I knew I needed to have it. The baked beans were out of this world!! Top three baked beans I've ever had!! A little smokey, a little sweet, and just the right consistency as far as thickness for me A1 . The ribs by far the best ribs I've had in STL. Very flavorful and tender. The tri tip it was ok. I've never had it shaved before and couldn't really get a good grasp on the flavor. It wasn't bad, just not the way I've had tri tip previously. All of their BBQ sauces were fantastic as well!! My favorite sauce was the pineapple express. Bogart's has restored my faith in STL BBQ. I was a non-believer for some time . HIGHLY recommend
