We have been to a lot of BBQ restaurants. This one is very good. Waited in line for 1/2 hour on a Friday evening memorial weekend. Took about 15 minutes after we ordered. Some tables inside and a big pavilion outside. The menu has a lot of options and they have great specials. I feel the price was good. All of the meats were great! So flavorful and tender. The jalapeño sausage was also very good. The sides were not the plain old salads and I assume made in-house. The potato salad sweet and creamy. The slaw has apple slivers in it to give it a sweet crunch. The beans had a little spice to them. The bread pudding is good with no shortage on sweetness. read more

Passing through town and found this place with good reviews. So glad we stopped in. Meat portions are generous and prices good. Turkey was very juicy which is hard to do. The pulled pork had very good flavor.we thought the sides we got were a bit lacking. Mac and cheese was ok. Not as creamy smooth as I prefer but still had good flavor. Creamed corn was a little too creamy and very sweet. Not our taste preference. All in all I definitely would go here again and you should too! Side note the bathrooms were very clean! read more

Picked up a little carry-out BBQ from Blazing Trails Texas BBQ in West Frankfort. We ordered the Pit Master - 1lb ribs, 1lb brisket, 1lb pulled pork, potato salad, BBQ baked beans and buns. We added 1/2lb of burnt ends. It was absolutely delicious. The ribs and brisket were as tender, juicy and tasty as one could possibly hope for. The potato salad and beans made nice contrasting sides. First time visit. I arrived on Friday a little after noon and the parking lot was packed. Also a line to order. The dining area is kind of like a shed attached to the kitchen. I was there on a chili day and it was quite cozy. WARNING no public restrooms! There is a Porto potty in the parking lot, so be prepared if you are visiting from out of the area. You order at a window and they call your name at another. The line moves a little slow but orders come out fairly quickly. You can see them slicing up the meats from the order window. Everything I saw being sliced looked good. I got a half rack of ribs. I think that was 7 bones. A pretty substantial serving. The first thing I noticed was the bark on the meat. They put a pretty thick coating of rub on the meat before it is smoked and it tastes so good. I had asked for bbq sauce (you do have to ask), but after tasting the meat I'd say adding sauce detracts from the taste. The rib meat was extremely tender, not common with smoked ribs, but extremely fatty. So the meat was outstanding but all the fat knocked it down a notch to me. I guess the fattiness snd tenderness are related, but it was still a little much. I had hoped that the had Texas red chili. They did have chili the day I went, but they called it brisket chili. It was pretty good. Honestly I was full from the ribs and took most of the chili home. It had just the right amount of heat. I had creamed corn and bbq beans for sides. I over did it here and should have canceled at least one side. The creamed corn was outstanding. I'm not sure I've ever had better. The cream was very thick and extremely well seasoned. I'd stop in again just for this alone. The beans were, I think, very molasses based. I didn't really care for them and wouldn't get them again. I will definitely return. Not sure I'd get ribs. Probably should try brisket at a Texas bbq place. read more

Been wanting to try Blazing Trails Texas BBQ for awhile now and finally got to get out there. Let's start with all the good. The prices are on point. It has been the best Q I've had in southern Illinois other than mine. ( I'm kinda biased) the sauce was great all the meat was good when I was all I did order all the meat. Only did 2 sides apple slaw was good. The smoke Mac and cheese had good flavor but noodles a little over cooked for myself. The bad They are only open 2 days a week to start. Then and it's hard to keep turkey moist but it was good. So I would recommend great atmosphere great people and good food. read more

The stars of the show, that Dayum bologna sammmich, the Mac cheese, and the jalapeno cheddar sausage....FYEEEE... These 3 stole everything...Put a lil of that hot BBQ sauce on the bologna sandwich...I also ordered burnt ends, half rack ribs (didn't know they would be baby backs), and baked beans... The ends are a strong 3 start..They would be a 4 if they would leave the sauce off.. The ribs are a 3 star.. And the baked beans, it's a strong nahhhh for me...Those beans aren't beanin.. Let's get one thing straight. I LOVE barbecue, and this, is DAMN good barbecue. Walking in for the first time, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, and we had some regulars come in behind us, so we let them pass us in line while we looked at the menu, trying to decide what to eat, because we wanted to try everything they had. We mentioned we were unsure, and one of the regulars said "oh you can't go wrong with anything here." I was pensive at first because of the lack of a major internet presence, but their Facebook page is really well done and they really know what they are doing with barbecue. We ended up settling on the brisket nachos, bread pudding, Cowboy Mac with burnt ends, and a 1/3 pound of brisket. We will DEFINITELY be coming back, as everything was fresh and excellent. Service was really fast as well. They recently added covered seating, and it was a quite comfortable temperature inside when it was rather cold outside. We will a DEFINITELY be coming back, as this is easily some of the best food I've had in Southern Illinois so far, as well as being some of the best barbecue I have ever had period. read more

I dont know what to say about this place. I am not a BBQ guy but i heard about them thru a mutual friend. Let me tell you something. I AM a BBQ guy now. This place is awesome. The food was great and the service was top notch. You go in to this Porch like area to wait in line to order your food but it great because it doesnt have the restaurant atmosphere. The people that work there are all smiles even though that place is really busy all the time. The only thing i didnt like was the seating but IDC i love the food. We had the Jalapeno Sausage sandwich (incredible). The pulled pork nachos (incredible). The Amardillo egg (OMMMMMMGGGGGGG SO GOOD) and the spicy mac n cheese. We went there 2 weeks ago and my mouth is still watering from their food. If i had any complaints about this place. Its that they are only open on Fri and Sat from 11 to 7pm. That is it. But you cant rush perfection. I will def def be back and i recommend this place to everyone. Especially if you love BBQ. If you dont love BBQ then go anyways. Whats wrong with you lol. read more

Blazing Trails has the best BBQ anywhere. Ryan started selling his food from a yellow food truck in the McCord's Market parking lot where the line would stretch around the lot. This grew from his one man business to most of his family members helping out. I and others encouraged him to open a restaurant which he has now done which was initially takeout from an exterior window and now has covered sitting areas and you order from the counter when you enter. I love the brisket and the filet mignon the best and my wife prefers the pulled pork. His sides are unbelievable. The creamed corn and smoked mac and cheese are the best you will find anywhere. You will not find a nicer man and family and we are blessed to have this very successful restaurant in West Frankfort. He also caters and makes special meals for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Mothers Day. read more

My husband and son loves the beef brisket sandwiches!! My husband also loves the spicy BBQ sauce.... I'm a wimp, so I get the regular BBQ sauce which is also AMAZING!!
