Note 90% of the time, the products you get from these guys are not made local or even in the US.

The store is spacious, clean, well organized. The staff was helpful but they all were lacking the warm smiles that I love from great customer service. Maybe it's the brutal cold weather. What Jeff and Bekah Metzdorff have done to make a retail store into the epicenter of running culture in the entire Midwest is remarkable. You will get it when you walk in. You need a pair of shoes and they'll make you run on a treadmill, ask you some questions and you'll be fitted for what shoe fits for you. From there, they have gear you want to wear running. And for those us (myself included) who aren't runners, they have comfortable clothing you will wear daily for comfort or for your own workouts. You go deeper if you're new to the Twin Cities and join a free group run, which is multiple times a week to keep you going. You might even find a date there, it happens oddly often. If you're one of those people who need to run a marathon, you'll see them during the Twin Cities Marathon yelling in the 20s mile area, getting written up in the local neighborhood papers for being too loud. From there, you want them to succeed, and you want to join them. Then you see their brand everywhere. In every race in the Midwest, you will see the brand name. And you'll feel good wearing it as well as you know it's a local business doing things right from the ground up.

What I learned by running myself is their fantastic shop runs that they put on several days per week and on every other Saturday, they have the assisted long run or "ALR" where there a lot of people, maybe ~100 all running different distances and paces on pre-set routes, like a 5K, 10K, 10 mile, etc. so you can pick a distance and pace and probably have someone to run with. They also provide Strava maps on their site so you really will not get lost. Best part is that these runs are free, they do it just because they love running and the running community. I brought my daughter here for a little shopping trip, we looked at clothing then moved on to…read morebikes. Her birthday was coming up and I wanted to get her a strider bike. I had her stand on one to check out some measurements. The bikes weren't put away, they were just stacked by boxes in the corner. My daughter stood on one for a minute--I was standing right by her and giving her my undivided attention. At this moment, an employee (older man, white hair) walked by us and rudely said "no riding in the store." And kept walking. Not "can I help fit you for a bike?" Or "can I help you find the right kind of bike?" Not even a "please". I don't expect everyone to adore my kids, but I do expect people to be respectful to them and them to be respectful to others. REI will never get a single dime from me again. This is the second time I've had an unsavory experience with the same employee. I don't understand how it can be difficult to treat people nicely, I can find much better customer service and better prices at Target.

She's the store that Lulu wishes it could be if it actually had some, I don't know? Customer service skills and class? This Lucy store is very well organized. I've never seen the clothes out of order or in disarray when I have visited. Also, the sales rack is always in great shape too. The ladies who work here are very nice and courteous. They ask if they can help you, but aren't all up in your face trying to sell you leggings or watching you as if you are going to steal their merch. The ladies are all ages too- young and old. I, personally, like the diversity in age. I've bought a few things in this store like a pair of leggings and a headband. It isn't as well stocked as its Edina counterpart and isn't as big, but it is still very nice place to shop for Lucy.

Dave's Sports shop has received a few negative reviews because it previously had new ownership…read more(IMO) and now Dave's is back with its original owners. Service is great. Scott is very welcoming and a wonderful advisor on skates, equipment and sharpening. I get the flat bottom edge on my skates. I don't even need to tell Scott what type of sharpening--he just remembers and does an excellent job.
