I have to say, the moment you walked in, you knew you were in a bonafide bakery: the smell was intoxicating. The ladies were extremely friendly and attentive. The donuts in the casing were absolutely beautiful as were the king cakes and the glazed donuts were really soft and tasty, so that's a plus. However, those stuffed sausage and cheesy things....no,no,no,no,no,no,no (FLAVA-LESS). Ya know, it's really hard not to get good flavor from pork. I mean, it's used as a seasoning in many dishes so, I'm confused. Also, the cheese didn't melt thoroughly as there was a huge chunk of white cheese sticking out on one side and the other side had sausage and egg. Just curious as to why they're on separate sides of the bun and not conjoined in the middle? Asking for a friend lol. I'm only traveling through and 3 stars are generous IMO. Jak's is the newest kid on the (Acadiana) block's donut scene. The owners are in here everytime I've been in and couldn't be friendlier. It's very clean and nice inside and I love the little bistro style tables for outdoor dining when the weather isn't being bipolar. I've tried the regular glazed donuts, apple fritters, breakfast burritos, and the sausage and cheese kolaches. My favortie hands down are the breakfast burritos (ham, sausage, egg, cheese and hashbrowns in a tortillia) and the bigger than a dinner plate apple fritters. Seriously, these apple fritters are ginormous and are nice and crispy outside and warm and fluffy inside. Delicious breakfast offerings and a great friendly atmosphere ensures Jak's will be on my regular rotation.

The owners were there overseeing operations. They were friendly and very gracious. My daughter loved the inflatable sharks they displayed, I assume because it's shark week. All their donuts are top notch and warm and fluffy (not heavy). The favorite in our group is the cinnamon twist. You can't find a better one anywhere and we've tested it!
