I can say I really appreciate there being a small dog area. There is also a water fountain for dogs and humans. Plenty of seating for everyone. I went late and felt really comfortable. Only a few people on the small god side but everyone was friendly. I was able to eat dinner with my family at one of the tables there while my dog got to explore. I'll definitely be bringing everyone here often. My only gripe is that I wish there was grass but it's not a big deal, just don't go while it's raining. read more

Whenever my dogs need to burn some energy we end up at this dog park. The last few times visiting this location, I would say within the last 3 months has been awful. The people stand there talking or on their phone doing absolutely nothing when their 5 dogs come running with their hair up trying to bite every dog that enters the park. Just because it's an open dog park doesn't mean you shouldn't have control of your dog. It was frustrating to deal with and view. No one wanted to pickup dog poop, they would look at their dog go to the bathroom and then look the other way and walk. Also, I noticed a van driving around the parking lot and following every new car that entered. They would do u-turns so fast and dangerously to follow a new car it was terrifying. They did this continuously for the entire time I was inside the dog park. Then park behind them waiting for people to exit their vehicle. This park is just getting scarier, less safe, and filled with pet parents that have no respect. read more

I take my dogs here multiple times a week, but only because it's the biggest and crowdest dog park around me. I appreciate that there's two separate sections for larger and smaller dogs. All the dog owners here are very friendly and I know most of their dogs' names. I've never had a problem with anyone or their dog on the small dog side. What I dislike about this park is that it's very dusty. Dogs love to kick in the dirt, so it goes flying everywhere and I always feel dirty whenever I leave. I wish there was grass. read more

Everyone is respectful and just gives a good vibe. 8/10 all the dogs are super nice and easy to be around & it's really enjoyable to see dogs playing in harmony with one another. Although a lot of irresponsible dog owners do have the habit of bringing small tea cup poodles & Chihuahuas to the LARGE dog park and either not properly watching/taking care of them or just surprised large dogs don't leave the little dogs alone. What is there to say, my dog loves coming here. I bring my puppy here almost every day and I have never had a bad experience. The park is always well maintained with plenty of bags and scoopers to clean up after your pet. There is a water fountain as well. The park is split between small and big dogs so I don't have to worry about my minpin playing with a dog who is too big for him. Most important is that there are lots of dogs here constantly, minus summer afternoons. If you come early morning or evening you will find a nice group of responsible dog owners and your dog is sure to find some friends. This is a playground... for dogs. With a puppy whose energy knows no bounds, I have become a regular at Miko's Playground. There are two fenced-in areas. One for large dogs and one for small. The area is quite large with trees, a picnic shelter, and benches, and while they try to maintain the grass, it is a useless endeavor. Once they lay down new sod, the grass is destroyed in two weeks from all the dogs. This is a popular spot, expect anywhere from 10-40 dogs there. On Saturdays, it can be a little overwhelming. The majority of dogs are well-socialized, but there are a few people who just don't get it. I have never seen a bad fight with injuries or anything, but always use caution with your loved ones. There are also fountains at dog level, which mine goes absolutely crazy over. This usually leads to an "accident" in the car on the way home. The only downside is that it can smell a bit ripe from owners who do not pick up after their pets. There are dispensers with poop scoop bags so it is not like it should be difficult. The park is only cleaned by the city once a week (Thursday afternoon), so just imagine the smell Thursday morning. Best to avoid it then. read more

I typically hit this dog park on the weekend afternoon/early evenings. Everyone there is always friendly and usually have a great mix of dogs. Recently, I've noticed a few people bringing dogs to the park when they probably shouldn't be there. Last week there was a dog that looked like it had just had surgery (was bandaged and bloody). Additionally, multiple other dogs showed up with cones on. Another bad thing I've seen at this park lately are people bringing their children without dogs to play with the dogs of others. Maybe I'm missing something, but I view this as a place for my dog to run around and get interaction with other dogs, not a place for some kid to chase and scare my dog all over the place while yelling at it. If you're dog is not fit to walk without a cone or recently had surgery, PLEASE do not bring them to the park which could cause damage to them or other dogs. Other than a couple incidents listed above, this is a great place and I would recommend a couple visits to check it out for yourself. read more

This is one of the biggest dog parks in town as well as one of the only ones without a gravel base. Apparently originally it was grass, but now it's just dirt. It can get dirty, but seems to be better than the gravel on pet paws. There are also usually a few dogs around pretty much all the time so your puppy has some playmates. As with all large dog parks, you can get a couple bad eggs at any point and time, but most owners are very responsible and fun to interact with. We have a large dog and a medium sized one that's inbetween the small and large dog parks. We love coming here because it's big enough for our large dog to go and play while keeping the smaller one entertained with some dogs closer to his size. read more

Me and my Frenchie, Joey, love this park. Large enclosed safe area with shade and walkway. No grass but I like that, easier to scoop the poop and no place for insects! People and dogs are super friendly. Everyone is mindful of their pets. We go to the big dog area even though he is little he likes to play hard with the big guys! It's nice to have other dog owners to socialize with since we are new to Tucson and found this to be the nicest, most frequented park with "regulars" you will see again. read more

The entrance was very hard to find-it is indeed off of country club and not 22nd. Once we asked someone and found it our dogs had fun, but I was disappointed to see that owners were just sitting in the middle,talking, while their dogs did whatever they wanted. The big dog area was nice however and had lots of trash cans/scoopers/water dishes and toys. This was our first dog park experience. This is a cool dog park nestled on the corner of 22nd and Country Club. Tons of people bring their dogs to socialize and it seems like we will all hang out and chat while keeping an eye on our dogs. People are pretty thoughtful and clean up after their pups as well as keep them in line. I liked the park for the many dogs mine got to socialize with but man my pups were dirty afterwards. Ha. The area is spacious. There is plenty of seating. My pups are about 30lbs and I put them in the large dog park. They need a lot of space to run around. Come out to Mikos if you want to meet other dog people and watch your pups hang out with other pups. But be prepared to give your dog a bath afterwards. read more

This is a wonderful dog park with shade from several mature trees. The park is off the main road and, other than the barking dogs, is fairly quiet. This park is filled with considerate dog owners. You won't find alot of waste on the grounds nor aggresive dogs. However we would have loved grass instead of just sod/dust. Our dog was happy but very dirty afterwards. Oh boy. I was really excited to visit Mikos corner, especially since is was at Reid park. This is a small dusty lot with some watering areas and covered Picnic table seating. Nothing special. There were very few people there with their dogs and plenty of homeless present. I am not upset with the city as there is no way a major park could keep a dog area grassy. There is one thing that did upset me. The bathrooms. Good god almighty. No, they were not dirty. That wasn't it. They were...outside. Outside stalls where everyone here's you pee and watches you walk out. No locks. The door locks are all broken so let's hope no one exposes you. Two stars for adding a dog park so that there is something for everyone. If you really want to treat your dogs, take them somewhere else. read more

I am here almost every evening with my dogs. It's a decent, spacious dog park surrounded by acres of grass, two ponds, and a walking trail. I've made friends here and found that MOST people who come here are friendly, knowledgeable, and conscientious. Then there are those who really need the scruff of their necks shaken. Don't be one of those people. Before you visit a dog park, you should have some knowledge of dog behavior and you should know the rules: - Don't bring your dog in on a leash. It makes them and other dogs defensive. - Don't freak out if another dog "talks" to your dog through low "grrrs" that sound like growls. Several dogs, notably breeds like huskies, chows, malamutes "talk." It does not mean they are aggressive. - Learn aggressive body language of dogs: Tail straight up and stiff, ears set far back in fear or far forward in dominance, as well as a rigid stance. When two dogs are standing next to each other like that, they are preparing to fight. - Do NOT bring your own toys to the dog park, particularly if you or your dog is possessive. There are community tennis balls there, but do NOT let your dog play with them if they go nuts when another dog approaches "their" toys. - For the love of all that is holy, do not bring your wee ones to the park and if you bring older children, please don't let them run. Some dogs, particularly large puppy breeds, will chase them and knock them down--not because they're horrible, mean, aggressive dogs with irresponsible owners, but because "running=playing" to them. - If you have a fearful dog, bringing them to the park to "socialize" them is about the worst thing you can do. Fearful dogs cause aggression in other dogs, who believe that the fearful one is going to bite them. Take your dog out and let him meet others one at a time until his fear is gone. - If you're a fearful owner--overprotective, skittish, nervous--then the dog park is not for you or your pup, who will pick up on your nervousness. Instead, take the trail or walk around the pond. (Please bring poop bags with you, though.) - It's a DOG park. Meaning don't bring your rabbit, cat, or boa constrictor in the park. It's not cool, no matter how "used to" dogs they are. Most dogs won't be used to them. It's just an incredibly rude and stupid thing to do. - This is not the place to eat your dinner. Don't sit at the table with your hamburger & fries or Subway sandwiches and then yell at dogs who approach or their owners. Again, it's a DOG park, not a restaurant. - It's bound to happen that you'll miss your dog pooping once in a while. For the sake of good karma and park hygiene, grab a scooper or a bag and pick up a few poops while your dog is playing. Be a good scout. :) - Skateboards and bikes are not allowed in the park for good reason. Dogs will chase them. Not because they're horrible, mean, aggressive dogs with irresponsible owners but because that's what some dogs DO. It's their nature. Don't be the person who thinks her little cupcake should be able to break the rules and that everybody else should get over it. - If you have a problem with another dog or their owner, don't scream and add to the mayhem. Approach someone as you'd like to be approached. The Golden Rule and all. Generally speaking, people want to be cooperative. - If your dog is in a fight with another dog, don't scream. It heightens the aggression. Try to pull your dog away by their hind legs, lifting them up and away in a wheelbarrow position. When they are separated, assess the damage. If there is damage, exchange information with the other dog owner, including phone, address, and vaccination information. If there is no damage, count your blessings and understand that ANY dog may get into a fight. Dogs have their own language and signals and just like humans there can be miscommunications. A fight does not necessarily mean that your dog or someone else's has a terrible, rotten, no-good owner. - But on occasion there ARE terrible, rotten, no-good owners. It happens and it's not the fault of their dogs. Report them if you see abuse, or if their dogs are unlicensed or routinely aggressive. Don't take it upon yourself to deal with people who may not be stable. Now go have some fun. :) read more

I love this park and so does my Siberian Husky, Shadow! The size of the park is HUGE and I like the fact that there are two separate areas for small and big dogs. There are plenty of trees that provides shade, a ramada, lots of benches, and two dog friendly drinking fountains (personally, I wouldn't even dare to drink out of them). Several regulars are kind enough to donate water bowls, toys, and pooper scoopers for park use (please don't steal them). There are plenty of parking and conveniently, two entrances into the big dog park. I never had problems with anyone neglecting to watch over their dogs at the park. Well, of course you have some of those people who for whatever reason just absolutely can NOT pick up after their own dog's poop.... A park wouldn't be a dog park without those people, right? Haha But for the most part owners will stop fights and are good at making sure their dogs don't play too overly rough. A lot of times they know when their dogs are not up to socializing/aggressive and will immediately take them home. After reading all the reviews from other dog parks, I want to mention about how I never had a problem with any regulars. Most people are super friendly. A lot of them are kind enough to even remember your dog's name. Yeah, there are some owners who are very uptight and overprotective of their dogs. There are even some people who likes to make judgemental comments about other people's dogs. But hey! You gotta dust that chip off your shoulder sometimes and have a thick skin. There are lots of ignorance out there and you don't want to be like one of them. From experience and what I have seen at the park, don't bring toddlers or young children to the park. I've seen a group of dogs chasing each other and as they got near the toddler they all slipped on the concrete while trying to stop, but ended up knocked the girl down like a bowling pin. She totally ate the floor! It was not pretty at all.... Warning! The dog park is no place for little kids, especially in the big dog area! Oh and if your dogs likes to jump on tables watch out for the two elderly men (they usually go in the early mornings) who likes to bring their board game (who the heck brings a board game to a dog park?!) and play under the ramada. I've seen a dog accidentally knocked over their game and they were not happy at all. One of the men became very aggressive and started bullying the poor dog while shouting profanity. They can be extremely mean and cranky so don't take it personally. They're like that to pretty much everyone. read more

I've waited to review this park because I wanted to give it a few visits to get a general sense of things. It has not always been bad but today was the straw. Just gross. Number 1: This park is huge, with two separate areas for different sized breeds. This is probably the only good thing, the size. Number 2. This park is all dirt. Dusty when dry and muddy when wet. Number 3.. The owners are pretty apathetic and tend to just sit around while their dogs do whatever. I generally would not care about this because my dog and I go here to play catch, but most of these people are not cleaning up after their dogs. I never saw any aggression or dog fights but many of these dogs are clearly unhealthy and I became concerned that I was exposing my dog to parasites and other health issues by bringing him here. Number 4. SHIT EVERYWHERE! It was disgusting. This problem has only gotten worse and it is why we will not be going back. There are a lot of flies and a lot of shit. In short, if you want your dog playing in a large dirt lot full of dog shit, well, this is the dog park for you! Enjoy! read more

I found this park ... on the nice side of decent but quite hard to find! Turn in from Country Club just north of 22nd. I believe the entrance to Reid Park there is labeled something to the effect of "Picnic Area" and says nothing about Mikos, but it has a little icon of a person walking a dog ... on a leash. Confusing much? Once you pull in, go all the way north to the end of the cul-de-sac parking lot. There's no signage until you get right to the double gates. One thing I don't like about this park is that there's no splashy water area for the pups. Plus, I don't think it's the biggest park for dogs in town - so far I think the largest I've taken Maggie to is Columbia Park off Silverbell. That one has tons of grass, too, and an agility area. But that's far for a lot of people, no one's ever there, and the Reid Park locale has, well, dogs for mine to play with, and a much younger crowd of people who I assume to be regulars. My dog was not so well behaved this time around; she usually is, but for some reason, she just didn't act so nicely today. She's super submissive, but this afternoon she was taunting more aggressive dogs, and was generally being a bitch. We left early. We'll be back, and hopefully Maggie will be a little less bratty. :( read more

I waited a few months to rate this park as I wanted to give it a chance. But I'm completely done with this park. It's big, but it's not worth the pain of dealing with the people there. Every time I have taken my dog, except for once, dog have been very aggressive with her. She is a medium size dog with a lame leg. I saw another dog with one hind leg also be attacked and have to leave the park immediately. All this to say that the owners DO NOT WATCH THEIR DOGS! Their dogs are out of control, and they won't even call for them. Additionally, the pet owners themselves are incredibly rude. I'm not sure if this is cultural. The park is mostly anglo owners, I am desperately looking for a dog park that POC friendly. I will not longer go to this park. read more

The park itself is very nice. There is a separate park for little dogs, plenty of water and toys. The only downside is the people that go there. I was a regular at the dog park, my dog is extremely sociable and friendly. Recently, multiple times, people bring puppies way too young in the park and overreact to other dogs play. I have been threatened multiple times by people in the park, today someone threatened to call the cops on me all because my dog did a playful leap to try and run with his puppy. I have had a dog of mine, attacked, actually bitten here. Some people actively watch their dogs, but a majority of them do not and then are very rude if there is any conflict. If you want a good experience, for you and your dog, try Udall of Smiling Dog. This park just isn't worth it because of the people that go. read more

We go here all the time. I like it in the mornings, it is full of regulars that are mindful of their pets behaviors. The evening for some reason attracts buff dudes and un-neutered pit-bulls. It is full of big trees and fading grass. Careful where you step, most people are really good about picking up after their dogs but sometimes you have to help the not so willing out a bit. We've visited a number of the dog parks in town and decided to visit this one based on the reviews here at Yelp. The facilities are great. I loved the shady play areas and the fact there was more grass and less "dirt" than most of the other parks. I also loved the fact that there were benches to sit on rather than just a couple picnic tables stuck around like most of the parks. For most of our visit we had a great time. We're working on getting a 5-year-old Cockapoo to learn to play nicely with other dogs. She's not aggressive, just has alpha tendencies we're trying to break. The other owners were marvelous in understanding what we were doing and that we were not "hovering" with their dogs. Unfortunately, near the end of our visit a man came into the small dog area with a medium sized pit bull mix. The dog obviously had no place in the small dog area and most of the owners began herding their dogs away from him - including us. Finally, we decided it was too hard to allow our dog to play with the pit in the enclosure so decided to leave. Just as we got to the gate another young man (late teens, early twenties) came in with a full breed pit bull 80-90 pounds. The dog was pulling at the lead and jumping at other dogs and people. Several of the dog owners told him the aggressive pit wasn't welcome in the small dog area and he laughed at them and said: "I can't take him over there with those big dogs because he gets in fights with them." I told him that if the dog fought large dogs then he could easily kill the small dogs. He replied that there was nothing keeping him out and we couldn't make him leave. He proceeded to loose the pit bull and most of the dog owners began gathering their dogs to leave. Obviously, it's a great facility but there needs to be some sort of security on hand or some sort of posting so that the police can intervene in cases like this. I've never seen so many pit bulls at any other park in town (in the large dog area and being walked) and certainly never seen such blatant disregard for etiquette at other parks. I'm not sure if we'll go back, despite the nice amenities and setting for fear of more run ins with aggressive pit bulls and aggressive pit bull owners. Beware! read more

I still feel I am new to this area and have only been to three of the local dog parks. This is the best so far. I have a small dog and it is nice that they have an area just for the little guys. The little guy side is lacking in grass though. I know the grass is always greener, but it really is greener and more abundant on the big dog side. It has nice fences, water fountain and balls laying around just waiting to be fetched. It is very nice and my dog gets so excited when we pull in to the parking lot. I would love to give it a higher rating but due too budget cuts the upkeep is less then desirable. I still go 4 to 5 times a week because it close to my house and a chance for my dogs to run free. Lighting is bad at night but the place is heavily patroled by the police. Also, it closes at 10:30 at night. read more

The dog park itself is not bad. There is a separate area for small and large dogs. For the most part the benches and shelter is well maintained. There are nice water fountains for the dogs to drink from; as well as several water bowls throughout the park. For these features I added an extra star to the review. The problem with the park is not the park itself but the people who use this dog park. We've been to this park on several occasions but had problems with 'bad' dog parents each time. The people ignoring their dogs and letting them run amok far outnumber the responsible pet owners watching/playing with their animals. Every time we've visited the park there are people who don't clean up when their dog poops. Last visit to the park, there was a dog that was clearly hot and wanted to leave the park. It spent the entire time whining, and unhappy. The park is really more of a 'people park' than a dog park. It's a place where people can go to talk to one another and let their dogs terrorize, hump, and pee on other dogs and people without any repercussions. read more

Nice big park with duel fenced in areas to separate smaller from larger breeds. Word of caution, your pooch will need a bath after playing here, but isn't that what being a playful dog is all about? I take my 2 Boston Terriers and pug there on a regular basis. Usually in a dog park the humans are the biggest obstacles i.e Brandi Fenton Memorial, but for the most part owners and dogs alike are very laid back and cool here. Sure there are the occasional owners who come there with very old dogs or antisocial pooches, but it's the owners ignorance and not the dog's fault. Overall a cool place to meet people with like interests and allow your dog some quality play time and interaction with others dogs. Well maintained and easy access just off Country Club and 22nd. This is my favorite dog park in Tucson. Large park with double gates. Has a small dog (less than 30 lbs) park and a large dog park. Always has water bowls and pooper scoopers. Please take all the plastic grocery bags you've been saving and donate them to the park. While in the area walk a bit east and check out the beautiful rose garden. read more
