We went to Milan's on a Wednesday night, 4 adults and 2 children, found it on Yelp with good reviews. One of the kiddos wanted pizza. Upon arrival parking was tight and inside was packed, good sign. We were told to give them a minute that they were busy but would accommodate us. We were seated outside after the table was dried off for us. It had been raining earlier. Outside was large and spacey with tables and couch along with tv and some toys for the kids. Service was slow and received numerous apologies along with the excuse they were super busy. They have a good selection of local draft beers. We ordered kids food immediately along with 3 drafts, 2 waters and 2 cokes. Drinks came after a few minutes. Kids food came after probably 20 min or so, kids cheese pizza was piping hot along with kids chicken tenders and fries. Kids cheese pizza was phenomenal. Kids chicken tenders and fries were terrible. Fries were completely over cooked and greasy. Tenders weren't over cooked but greasy and the cheap frozen kind. Service was slow on beer orders and we received the same excuse they were busy. Appeared to only be two middle aged men working. Received a plate of Italian bread and marinara. Both were good, marinara was superb imo. Placed an app order of cheese sticks with our main order and I ordered a house side salad. The cheese sticks and salad came out with the main order. The cheese sticks were substandard and frozen. The house salad dressing was phenomenal and I enjoyed the pecans and roasted peppers. I had the wings, they looked amazing when we first walked in. They were good, not as delicious as I was expecting. The garlic parm was way better than regular buffalo. Parents had a half and half supreme and pepperoni pizza hold onions. The supreme side was lacking peppers. Pepperoni side was good. GF had the Cabrese pizza. It was skimp on chicken but had a decent flavor. Bathroom was small but accommodating considering it's a bar/pizzeria. All in all I gave 3 stars because we were forgot about at times while we were seated outside by ourselves. We had to ask for replacement beers and still were forgotten about. Plus each time we were told the same excuse "we're really busy", but the place cleared out long before we got our food. I will give it another go but will definitely avoid the fried food choices due to poor quality food and stale tasting grease. The two people at the counter stared at me like I'd just landed from another planet, no greeting, no smile, just (why are you here) energy. I grabbed my order and couldn't get out fast enough. My husband and I stopped in for lunch on our way to New Orleans. The restaurant has a fun atmosphere with an outdoor seating/entertainment area, and a bar/dining room inside. The TV's on the wall gave the restaurant a sports bar feel, but the food was superior to any sports bars I have visited. During our visit, we were served a complimentary cheesy garlic loaf. It was loaded with big chunks of Parmesan. I'm not sure if we had an assigned server, because every employee (including the owner) checked on us during our visit. We decided on their version of a supreme pizza. While we were waiting, we got to watch the owner help a child build his own pizza in the dining room. It looked like so much fun, I wanted to do it too. Our pizza came out pretty quickly and I was impressed by the crispy crust and generous toppings. The pizza dough in its self lacked that great taste that puts a pizza together. I've had wood fired pizza before so it's not like I wouldn't understand that it's not a "regular pizza joint". I loved the ambiance of the place. The cashiers were so nice. It's just the pizza was just not that great. Stopped in and ate here a few times. We tend to eat around 2 or 3 pm and are regulars at most places in Hammond. Noticed in the reviews here for Milan people mentioned happy hour, so we came in to give it a shot and try their pizza. It seems their happy hour starts at 3:30 and each time we stopped in we missed it due to coming in at 2:30 or 3:00 so ended up ordering off the regular menu. When we finally made it on time for happy hour they had removed the personal pan pizzas from the happy hour specials. So it's a pizza place with no pizza special at happy hour. We did pay full price for a pizza during happy hour and pizza was pretty good. We ordered a large and frankly it wasn't very big for a large. Was it the best pizza in Hammond? Nope not in my opinion but it was a decent pizza. They had a nice selection of beer all though not much of a temptation to frequent during happy hour, since in Hammond many places have 2 for 1 beers or half off their beers between 2 and 6 such as Mariners or Bradys. Cool spot to check out in Hammond with nice vibes. Our server was very attentive to our needs and gave some great recommendations. The pizza was soggy and definitely didn't taste like wood fired pizza. The toppings were out of a package, diced ham was a joke and the meat lovers barely had any meat on it.
