I am simply here to inform you. I am not making an attempt to degrade anyone. I am only going to talk about what to expect so you can make your own clear decision whether or not you want to still pursue this school. And if you are a current student here's the inside scoop that I've discovered and you may need to know. I'm only going to discuss about the LPN and Medical Assistant Program. But please don't even get me started on other issues at this school...that is a whole other topic review. LOL! For one I attended this career college/ vocational school (just putting that out there for those who thinks it's a community college or university like I assumed) because it got such good reviews. I'm not sure who wrote those reviews, if they were actually students. Well here is my experience upon enrolling and attending to the Mildred Elley Metro NYC campus school. Yes, the staff is super nice and friendly very professional and will make you and your family feel welcomed. I love ALL the staffs and professors there, no problem with that department. I asked about their LPN program. I was told that it is an 18 month program because you have to take 6 months of your prerequisites before being eligible to take the TEAS exam (which by the way if you already took your TEAS exam and passed and expect you will go straight into the LPN program think again because they still will not accept it and you will still have to take the TEAS again and pass it again and a still take a few prerequisites classes). So for the first 6 months you are enrolled in the Medical Assisting Associate's program and will remain there until you pass all your classes with a minimum of a B+ GPA, pass your TEAS exam and if there's an open seat available because only a very few enter the LPN program. So even if you have all the requirements to get into the LPN program it is still not guaranteed. So good luck with that. If you can't get into the LPN program you will just continue to be a MA student. But you will be allowed to take the TEAS exam as many times as you like to get another chance at getting into the LPN program. My student advisor (which is the person that greeted you and enrolled you) told me that Mildred Elley has a bridge program that will allow you to go from LPN to RN ----- THAT WAS A BIG LIE!!! Mildred Elley at the Metro Campus does not have ANY colleges "at this time" that has agreed to accept their credits (I can't speak about the other campuses because I do not attend to anyone of them except the Metro Campus but I'm sure they don't have a bridge program there either) because for one it's a certificate program at a career college and no other college accepts their credits as real college credits and that is why they have no 2yr-4yr colleges agreeing to take their credits. I was told this by the Dean, President, and my Advisor themselves so it came straight from their mouths. But when you are enrolling into the school they don't disclose that with you they tell that they have few colleges that will accepts their credits for the RN program --- NOT TRUE! Very misleading of them and waste of your money if you plan on furthering your career and education. So here's the real truth about the LPN program: * It is 18 months to complete * You will graduate with a diploma * You have to take the NCLEX to be licensed to be considered a LPN and work as one * The credits are non-transferable (Because it's a career college and the credit are not considered to be real college credits) THAT IS IT AND THAT IS ALL to the LPN! Well what about the Medical Assisting Associate's Program? If I earn my Associate's degree I can go to any college and pursue my Bachelor's degree right? WRONG! Yes, it is true that if you have your Associate's degree you can transfer it to any college and go for your Bachelor's degree. However, that is only true if you have A.A.S degree (Associates in Applied Science). At the Mildred Elley they only have the A.O.S. degree (Associate in Occupational Studies) which is NOT transferable. It is just for the purpose to prepare you to enter the workforce upon completion of the degree program. For this reason, an occupational associate degree is referred to as a "terminal" degree; that is, it is the end point of the education required for certain related jobs and careers. Again, Mildred Elley will not tell you this...after all it is a business and they have to earn their money somehow. So if you have any hopes of becoming a RN Mildred Elley is not the school for you. I would go to CUNY LaGuardia Community College or at least a college that you will earn you A.A.S degree for nursing.So if you want to be a LPN and have no desire to become anything other than just a LPN then this is the school for someone like you. And that is the same for Medical Assistant too. But if you really want to become a RN please don't waste your time here at Mildred Elley. read more

They give you a bunch of prerequisites to start and then in the middle of your prerequisites, they add more prerequisites for you to pay for more classes. This school is misleading. The recruiter Madeline give students incorrect information to get you to enroll. Once you're enrolled and classes start the advisor gives you different information. This is school a joke and is looking to make money. They are not being honest with new students coming in. Horrible waste of time and money. I withdraw from all of my classes before the last day to withdraw and they gave me a grade of F for both classes. All my work was 90 or above on all assignments and participation. Why didn't get a W? Why a F? I received a call almost 1 year later threatening me to a balance of $1600 or I would be sent to collections. I never received a letter in the mail or anything regarding a bill. This school needs to be permanently closed for the fraud they committed. Other people has experienced this horrible treatment from these unprofessional people. When asked for a bill to mailed to me and a back down of the outstanding balance the guy Victor +1 (518) 786-0855 couldn't tell. As per Victor "you owe the balance if you don't pay I'm sending you to collections today, good luck, congratulations you'll be in collections" in the was of the professional at the school. The email I received 8/6/2023 about a balance I never was informed about.....almost 1 year later I received this email....no balance information in the email but threatening to send me to collections....smh. They are always eager to take your money but lack in the organization, communication and consistency within the program. Furthermore most schools hold student transcripts when payments are delayed/late this school shuts down student access in the middle of the semester preventing students from successfully completing courses until the payment is made ultimately causing students to fail and have to pay again to retake courses. This school will scam you in so many ways. 1. An MA certificate doesn't take almost a year to complete or is it so expensive. CUNY schools have free 5 month programs for an MA certificate. 2. Their requirements for LPN is ridiculous. They want you to take the "prerequisites" with MA classes so if you fail the TEAS they make it mandatory for you to finish the MA certificate program and then take FIVE more classes for the AOS to then get into the LPN program. 3. They play favorites, they (the advisors) tell you that they don't know when the TEAS are (they do) but only tell certain students. This is how people will end up failing the TEAS and being forced into the MA program. 4. It's so bad and so expensive that most of the students leave within the first module. Plus, if you do go and end up leaving please note that only about 2 other schools take their credits (Helen fold and AMG nursing school of Brooklyn) Please take my advice as someone who also left after doing a few classes and transferred to another school when they let me schedule my TEAS and take it. I will also add that they are trying to make it harder for students to withdraw from this school because they want to keep the school up and running. This place needs to be reevaluated and shut down. please do not attend this school some instructor are incompetent I had nothing but issues when speaking with financial services down to the receptionist who is also incompetent and very rude even the delivery company fed ex complained how rude she is most places do not accept their PN program. Iyonna's Review explains a lot! I graduated from the paralegal program about 3 years ago. My goal was to the transfer my credits and obtain a bachelors and then try for law school. Well today after speaking with some colleges. My degree and credits I worked so hard for are a complete waste. And even if there was a miracle from god that any college will accept their credits. They are holding my transcripts from me for a balance of $2000. (When I first graduated it was $918). Mind you every time I look on my credit report. I see $26000 in loans for a degree I cant do anything with and have to start from scratch to further my education. I wasted 2 years and $26000. Do NOT come here. The estimated financial aid is given to you in the beginning after you apply. Then after you are finished and graduate you discover your loans are way over what you were told it was estimated to be. It is one thing if it is off by a few hundred or even a grand or two but nope. I just got off the phone with a financial aid consultant who told me the school took out may more loans than I would have needed for my course. Then they tried to spin it saying I was given a check to cover the things i didn't use loans for which i should apply to my total loans. However, I should be applying the check to the original total loans and not the inflated current one. I was looking over my ledger that I had the consultant send to me and there were Lab fees charged for classes that had no labs. Avoid this school. Not worth it. read more

I went here for a interview I spoke to Cliff. I was there with one other girl while he gave us a sun up of the school. Basically he said a placement test needed to be taken BUT you can still attend school. You will be in a medical assistant course until you pass the test. Then you will move on to the LPN course. I had to ASK to see the school which was shown to be small with a few clean classrooms. It was also stated they are TRYING to get the classes in person but "people don't want to come into school they rather do the work from home" sounded to me like the courses would be online mostly. One thing I will say is Cliff told me to apply for financial aid at their school and even if I don't use it there I can SHOP AROUND wit it and go to other schools I never heard that before. Well, I'm interested in starting the LPN program and have been reaching out to multiple schools to get details. You know; tuition, length of program, transfer credits, etc. I filled out the registration form online and started getting text messages on my phone. I signed up for an open house which takes place in about a week from now. This afternoon I received a phone call from an advisor. (I won't mention her name)The way she spoke to me on the phone was enough to pursue my education elsewhere. The advisor did not introduce herself or tell me what school she was calling from. As she started asking me questions I had to stop her and ask her What is your name? what school are you calling from? If you can't speak to me professionally on the phone; Then there's more unprofessionalism in my opinion to come if I go to the school. Plus if you're LPN program is going to cost $32,000.00(per advisor) I might as well sign up for an RN program at a more reputable school. I found a much affordable school in Long Island $10-11k less and spoke to a much professional advisor who answered all my questions and made me feel secure of my decision... This school is in every way a SCAM! I applied in hopes of getting into their LPN program, but before you can get into that program you have to take a certain amount of prerequisites. You must also maintain a certain GPA and pass the TEAS exam. I maintained a very high GPA and scored well on the TEAS. I was told that I could then enter into the LPN program, but needed to come to the school in person for a change of program. When I get there, I'm told that I can't enter into the LPN program this year, and would have to start the beginning of the new year because they didn't have my high school transcript on file. The same transcript they asked me to provide in order to apply for admission. I immediately contacted the President, who offered me basically nothing to make up them lying to my face. Needless to say I left the program. Please please please do yourselves a favor and don't even contact this "school". There are plenty of better suited CUNY and SUNY programs out there that will provide you with a better education. This program is only after your money, nothing else. This school is the worse ever!! They charge hidden fees, double charge and cannot explain where the extra money is going. The professors are all foreigners and some you can barely understand. DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!! They did not even deserve one star. I went to this college for LPN. I made it through right up until I was supposed to start clinicals. For 8 months I was on the presidents list (the last MOD dean's list) and maintained a 3.0 GPA and higher the whole time. I failed math because the teacher played YouTube videos the whole time and I wasn't understanding the material. When I asked the teacher Sophia for help she told me to look in my book. The whole class failed her course!! I re-took math with a different teacher and she actually showed me how to solve the math problems and I finally understood! However because I was unable to complete the final exam I failed. They give you 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete 50 nursing math questions (4 of the questions had three parts). In real life when you have to give someone insulin and you are calculating the dosage you need to get another nurse to double check to make sure the dosage correct - this alone takes more than 90 seconds to complete. I was unable to complete this test which resulted in my failing grade of a 66. I also got a 90 on the competency test which is the same kind of questions on the final so It proved I understood the material. Since I failed the course twice they kicked me out of the LPN program and told me if I want to get back in I have to complete the medical assistant program with a 3.0 GPA or higher - then at that point they will consider letting me back in the LPN program to retake math. I am already a medical assistant helping MOHS surgeons remove skin cancer. I am not going to waste my money going to college for medical assistant when I already am a medical assistant! So I wanted to transfer to another school which I am supposed to start in a few weeks but they will not let me start until I have my transcript. So I paid 8 dollars online for my transcript that Mildred Elley cancelled because my "drop" is still being processed so they need to see if I owe money and if I do they will not give me my transcript. I have been laying every single month 150 dollars a month even while I was attending their school! She told me there is no law saying they can not hold my transcript and they will hold it. These people are terrible and absolutely do not help you try to progress in your career. Another thing is after completing 8 months - the Sonis website shut down which showed your grade. So they had me under the impression I passed math and I started clinics for two weeks until the website started working again and they told me I could not move on in the LPN program. However, since they told me for two weeks that I did pass and they put me in clinicals I had to buy their scrubs for clinicals, I had to buy a badge holder, I had to buy a notebook, I had to take time off of work I had to buy a stethoscope and I was forced to get my vaccine which I did not want to do because their is parkinson's disease in my family - all to just throw right in the trash. I received nothing at all, it's just something to they say to put a smile on your face. They told me I had to take the medical assistant first and once I'm done, I will start the LPN program right after. The total amount of the federal loan was $10,500, then another private loan (TFC an affiliate of Mildred Elley) in the amount of $9,500. So in all it cost me $20,000 for a medical assistant program. I started in 2020, google the cost of what a Clinical Medical Assistant course is and google the course of what a LPN course cost. Currently I wasted my time and money to become a Clinical Medical Assistant. I was told I had to take out another loan if I wanted to do the LPN program. I believe that loan was for $29,000. Where do i start!!! Mildred Elley was a blessing in disguise, i started at this school in September 2016, i planned on completing 6 months of pre reqs with a B or better so that i could apply for their LPN program. Upon Completing your prerequisites you will be eligible to sit for the TEAs exam that tests your readiness to start the LPN portion of the program, you have to earn a 68+ to get into the LPN program (they will accept your pre reqs from another institution if you've earned a B or better making it just 10 months to complete LPN portion). I had some of the most intelligent and personable professors that actually cared about seeing their students succeed. Like any school there were some bumps in the road but nothing beyond the normal, i completed my LPN May 2018 along with all 16/16 in my class we are all working licensed LPNs that have gone on to apply to different schools in the NYC area. your life is what you make it you must work hard to see results, some of these reviews may be clouded by past experiences but my experience was great and my credits were very much so transferable. read more

I set up an interview to tour the school and when I got there the lady I was supposed to see had to leave and I met with another lady instead who was not only incompetent she seemed to be on crack or something.. Super weird, it was more of an interrogation and i was very prepared to ask questions and she basically laughed at my questions. As an adult already working in the medical field already I was completely discouraged and couldn't help but burst out laughing after leaving.. It's some what over 26,000 for the LPN program. Only reason I'm thinking of attending this program is because 1199 union helps pay for some. This is one of the affiliated schools 1199 does not cover all LPN programs in New York. I know a lady in my job that graduated from here in the LPN program then went to St. Paul's in Queens, she graduating this semester, program took her a little over a year to complete. So I atleast know someone that went through the whole process. Two other schools that will take you after becoming a licensed LPN meaning passing the nclex is Helene Fuld and Monroe in the Bronx. read more
