My wife chose the Beetroot Carrot Vada Burger, made with a masala-spiced beetroot and carrot patty, mango lime slaw, green chutney, and tamarind chutney. Both burgers were served with a generous portion of fries and made for a very filling meal. What stood out most was the quality of the flavours and the portion sizes. Mildreds was surprisingly very good - a cute little spot in Soho. For apps, we had the arancini and the BBQ corn, both were delicious. I found their tacos to be a little too dry. The mains were so good. We had the Korean fried chicken burger (which was HUGE, by the way), the beetroot burger, and the tofu salad. The burgers were very good, but boy, when I took a bite of my friend's salad, I fell in love. It was refreshing, the flavors were yum, and I'm drooling a bit rn thinking about it. This was a delightful surprise. Looked for a vegan restaurant close to the theater. And voila, this came up. They whisked us upstairs to a small cozy room with a cute (fake) fireplace. The mother of the exceptional Mallow restaurants. My meal at Mildreds was every bit as good as the ones I've had at Mallow but with a more understated, casual experience. On entry the vibe is pleasant. There were already quite a few people dining for lunch and I was told I would only have an hour to eat - no problem, and a good indication that after many years this place is still popular. Even though there were quite a few people in the space over time it was never too loud or annoying so that was definitely a good thing. The food was really delicious. I had a "chicken" ceasar salad with artichokes and it was super tasty. I love artichokes and there was no shortage of the wonderful vegetable in the dish. The protein was every bit as delicious as normal chicken, and the sauce itself was the star of the show; while not exactly the same as ceasar dressing it was still savoury and herby - loved it. I also had a side of hummus and pita which while really good was too much food overall; the portions here are not small. Overall, really excellent. Great vegan eats in London! My husband and I dined here while traveling in London and I chose this spot as a former vegan who still loves to eat plant-based. While Mildreds is small in size, they make the most of their interior with a bar as well as strategically placed tables to accommodate all the patrons looking for a solid veggie packed meal! I would really recommend making a reservation beforehand. For dinner I ordered one of their seasonal salads- the artichoke chick-n caesar. I LOVE caesar salads- this one was pretty good but I was in between that and the 'green tofu queen' and I kind of wish I went with the latter- oh well. I was really excited to try Mildred's as I've heard so many great things. When I first arrived I immediately fell in love with the decor inside. They definitely succeeded in making the dining area feel so elegant and cozy at the same time. I ordered the Korean fried Chick'n burger with fries and it was pretty good. This was my second visit to Mildred's, my first in 2018. The ambiance is super cozy and the decor is lovely. We got a variety of menu items which we all loved, including a couple of burgers, Sri Lankan curry, lots of patatas bravas and hummus and aloo bonda. The best thing(surprisingly because usually I'm not a huge fan of cabbage) though was the charred Szechuan cabbage. It was so good and had chili oil and crispy chili bits. I came away from Mildred's pretty disappointed. Most of the food was just not that good. I think they suffer from a problem common to vegan restaurants, which is that in trying to recreate non-vegan dishes from vegan ingredients, something important is lost and the final product often just isn't very good. The caesar salad, for instance, just tastes off. The salad was weirdly proportioned to begin with, having enormous chunks of artichoke with very finely shredded lettuce. That can be worked around if the taste is good... but it wasn't. Whatever they used to make the vegan caesar dressing was just not very good. The 'plant chicken' suffers from a similar problem. It's in the uncanny valley of taste. The dishes that aren't imitating meat/dairy are a bit better, but they're still not great. They're ok. The mushroom tortellini were mediocre. The spinach gyoza were good, reasonably tasty, but not special. Overall just a big disappointment. The cocktails were good at least. But the food is a pass, would not recommend. read more

Came to this place while visiting london with my mom who is vegan. It was so good the first time we came back the next day to try more! The first day we ordered the nachos and Korean fried rice. Both were delicious. We were running late for a show so we didn't have time for dessert but the table next to us ordered tiramisu which looked good. Guess we have to come back for dessert.... The second time we ordered the gunpowder bonda and alma bowl. Both were meh. The bonda is a kind of fried balll with a stuffing inside. It comes with a guava sauce which was good. The alma bowl is pretty much a salad. It was definitely healthy and felt like what we should be eating but not exactly what we wanted at the time. If you want something light and healthy this might be your thing tho. For dessert we got the banana pudding and s'nickers bar. I was pretty disappointed with the snickers bar. I like peanuts but it was way too peanut heavy. There were peanuts everywhere. It tasted like peanuts with a side of chocolate. The banana pudding was pretty good. Just note that it's more of a cake than a pudding. Maybe pudding is something different in the uk? Overall I kinda wish we left it at the first night. We were underwhelmed today. As far as the space it's pretty tight. Expect to be brushing elbows with the table next to you. Also the service wasn't great. On our 2nd night the server completely disappeared for like 20 minutes. We flagged down another server to order dessert only to find out that he and our server swapped sections but no one told us anything. Mildred's = absolute heaven! The food here is creative, fresh, and of course...all vegan! They have a nice selection of starters, mains, and sandwiches...mom and I opted for a the BBQ Fried Chick'n Burger and 2 starters: Roasted Artichokes and Nachos. I recommend splitting a few things rather than sticking with an entree, as there are so many tasty items worth trying! Their Chick'n sandwiches are an icon here, and I see why: the mock chicken is flavorful, thick, and well breaded! I think my favorite item was the Nachos, as the queso/cheese dip was incredible. Dessert is not to be missed: the Banana Butterscotch Pudding (think sticky toffee pudding but with banana bread) was to die for-loved the salted caramel ice cream it was served with and was sure to ask for more. Loved this place!! I don't typically choose plant-based restaurants as I'm allergic to nuts and it isn't my chosen diet. However this place absolutely lives up to the hype. Had the Korean fried chick'n bun with fries and the spiced sticky toffee for dessert and it was so delicious. The way they trick people into paying ridiculously high service charge (12,5%) and sneak donations to various charities onto your bill borders on criminal. Also, it's interesting to note that when one asks to not pay the "optional" service charge they completely ignore you for ten minutes before coming back with an updated bill. I like the food at Mildred's but have now been made to feel bad by their staff one too many times and am thus NEVER going back. There are soooo many great vegan places in London. I being the only Vegan in the group asked if we could get some Vegan food since I'm​ always eating fries and steamed veggies everywhere else I​ go with a group. We were just around the corner from Mildred's​ and it looked like a great spot. There was enough room for the three of us but it is a tight fit in the little space. This is to be expected from restaurants in this area. The service​ we received was good. They missed a drink order in our group and took about 15minutes​s to grab someone to get it but overall it was good service. The food was fantastic!! I got the Chik'n sandwich (the sauce the used on the patty was insanely good). and the two I​ was with got the Tofu bowl and Stir Fry. We also shared the dumplings. Realized it was Vegan (I'm vegetarian) and figured it was worth a try. Got the garlic confit labneh and it was amazing. Just wish there was more of it. Looks like a lot (you think there will be more under the cucumbers), but there isn't a lot. It is listed as a small plate, so can't complain too much. So far, easily the best vegan food we've had in London. We tried the Tasting Menu, and loved everything! Service is awesome too (Gigi and Claudia are superstars!).
