I greatly appreciated the fact that you could request a consultation through Yelp. I filled out the "First-Time Client Form & Quote" online, answered some questions, and got a quote shortly after submitting it. Just a FYI, minimum preparation fee if $400. But we've messed up doing our own taxes before on Turbo Tax and had to pay a hefty interest fee for our error. For that reason, I have been willing to pay more to make sure that doesn't ever happen again. My husband and I have multiple properties which is why we just don't even try to do taxes on our own anymore. With this quarantine, everything was done online and was quick. We had a meeting online, Sean set up a cloud folder for us to drop our files, and he had our tax return ready within ONE DAY! SUPER FAST! We were able to sign everything off with DocuSign. There are numerous things I could say about our terrible experience working with him but the main point I will talk about is that he did not file our extension on time which COST US $2000 IN PENALTIES WITH THE IRS! Even once this happened, I didn't fire him but rather I reached out to him and asked if he could help us write a letter asking the IRS for forgiveness. THIS IS WHAT HE REPLIED TO ME: "I'm sorry you feel dissatisfied. I don't believe I can meet your needs going forward." MY REPLY TO HIM: "Mr Forney, I'm simply asking for your assistance in writing a letter. I'm preparing to file a form 843 and would like a letter from you stating the issue at hand when you attempted to file our extension. Are you able to provide me with this?" AND HE JUST IGNORED ME AND NEVER REPLIED TO MY EMAIL. WOW WOW WOW... IM APPALLED AT HOW QUICK HE WAS ABLE TO TURN A BLIND EYE TO OUR CASE (being that he put us in this mess in the first place) Bryce is irresponsible and careless. Not Attentive nor Timely!…read more With taxes, timing is everything, specifically when you are predicting owning our government money. Unfortunately, if you are looking for a CPA that will be attentive and timely, David Chopp is not your accountant. For our 2017 tax year, we enlisted the help of Mr. Chopp. Although we started the process of getting in to see him in January, our tax return was not ready until ten days before the Federal deadline. Additionally, Chopp never took the time to consult with us about the amount we may owe. Because of this timing and because we were not aware of the amount of taxes we would owe, we were unable to prepare ourselves financially. Once we finally received our return and saw the amount, we were left scrambling to find funds and react to this new debt. It took a couple of weeks and several phone calls to the IRS to get things in order finally. If Chopp had been more timely and attentive to our tax needs, we would not have had to arrange our finances to deal with the IRS so frantically. On top of all this, there were several communications that we took as belittling as if everyone should know the details of tax laws and accounting procedures or his bandwidth. In retrospect, hindsight being 20/20, I would not have chosen Mr. Chopp as our CPA. My recommendation is to find another accountant.
