He graciously held the car for over two weeks while I located and delivered a used transmission. Once it arrived, Joey and his team installed it within two days, and we were back on the road. Before the work began, Joey and I discussed the cost. He quoted a price for labor, with incidentals such as oil, filters, and gaskets listed separately. When the final bill came in higher than expected, I reviewed the invoice and noticed a discrepancy in the agreed-upon labor cost. I called Joey, and we talked it through. On January 28, 2022, I had my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd towed to Mr. Transmission in Elizabethtown, KY. I spoke to Joey, the owner who said that he would have to rebuild or replace the transmission and it would cost $3500. I paid him and waited for him to call. After a few days, he called and I went to pick it up. As I was behind on getting farm work done without my truck, I got to work and did not test the 4wd at that time but it seemed to drive fine. Later that night, I tested the 4wd and got what I call a dead stick. I tried contacting Joey the next day but he was not there. Over the following month, I made many calls and stopped by the shop many times. I also had 4 different mechanics look at it. Each one said that it was not put together right. Each time, I was told that Joey and his son were both out. Sometimes, they had a family emergency, sometimes just out. Evidently, nobody was authorized to speak to me other than them. On Feb 28, 2022, the transmission stopped working at all and I had to get it towed again. I finally got Joey on the phone the next day and arranged for a rollback to pick it up and take it to him. The rollback driver and his assistant both said that it was not put together right and that the linkage had never been hooked up. As two of the mechanics who had looked at it said those exact same words, I had no reason to doubt them. Once Joey got the truck back, he claimed that I must have hit something on the road and broke the transfer case. He said that it would cost another thousand dollars to fix then said that he would do it for $800. It is spring in KY and I live on a farm. I need a 4wd truck in order to keep my animals fed and healthy. I have had to spend a lot of cash and call in a lot of favors to do this over the last 3 months. I just want my truck fixed right since that was the agreement when I laid out $3500. May 17th, Joey finally responded saying that only a moron could screw it up since it is only six bolts and that I should call someone else to replace the transfer case since I had no confidence in him. After I had my transmission rebuilt at Mr. transmission 6975 N Dixie Hwy, Elizabethtown Kentucky my Wife and 3 children decided to take a trip, and did not end the way I thought it would have. First I would like to be completely honest with you. I worry about my children and my wife I want to make sure they have reliable and safe transportation without any worries with this being the case my wife's ford explorers transmission went out and wanted to make sure it was don right so I did not have any worries about it in the future and transmissions are expensive to replace or rebuild and were not rich and we don't have a lot of money so I did not want to have to keep rebuilding this transmission over and over so I decided to take it to Mr. transmission 6975 N Dixie Hwy, Elizabethtown Kentucky I let them do a complete rebuild on the transmission which was $2,500 now they gave a warranty of only 12 months or 12,000 miles. Also the service on a transmission there usually around 30,000 miles according to the Ford Maintenance scheduling and I thought at least I would have that until I had to even service the transmission . At witch point I later discovered that I could have got a transmission from Ford motor company for about the same cost for a 3 year warranty and unlimited mileage I could have also gotten the same transmission from a place called whatever it takes transmission for a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty so now looking back I see that I may have made a mistake because the warranty on this rebuilt transmission compared to other rebuilt transmissions dose no live up to the standard. So I had invested the money to have professionals rebuild the transmission now I know being a driver of over 15 years and owning around 20 or so cars from different brands makes and models that transmissions if taken care of could last hundreds of thousands of miles so I was only under the assumption that it would last longer than the 14 thousand miles that it did last and so when my wife decided to take a visitation trip to north Carolina I felt secure knowing that I had a rebuilt transmission in my wife's truck that she would make it to north Carolina and back WELL this DID NOT HAPPEN it ended up she made it 148 miles to London Kentucky where the transmission went out of the truck I had my wife and 3 boys stranded and in a place where I could not even get to them I was almost 150 miles away it would take about 4 hours to get to them they could not move they had no place to go we only had a limited budget to make it there and back and there were no family or friends that could help at the time and all of this was happening due to the rebuilt transmission that I believe should not have failed in such little time and your talking about me a father that was just sick and worried and miserable just knowing that my family could be in danger. You cant image how much of a bad father and husband that I felt like knowing there was nothing I could do. At an area I was unfamiliar with and did not have a place to go to safety not to mention I was in an accident at work and immobilized because of 9 fractures and an amputated to there was nothing I could do for my family to protect them and I was at a point were I had to beg family friends and strangers to get it towed back to an auto repair shop. Only because I had called Mr. Transmission and they told me that there was nothing they could do because it was out of warranty. Look I understand that a warranty is for a certain amount of time but my family was out of town there transmission that they rebuilt had failed I had to find alternative means to get the vehicle back up to the shop Luckily out of desperation I found Expert Auto Mechanics And Truck Repair on 1728 E Rockford Ln, Louisville Kentucky and their owner Tim Dunn that is an ASE master certified mechanic took care of the towing bill to get my truck to the shop and listen this vehicle was only over the warranty by less than 2,000 miles which is less than an oil change which is 3,000 miles. Had $4,000 worth of work done here a little more than a month ago and about 500 miles ago, because I trusted them. Big mistake. Was told axle and entire front and rear end needed to be replaced/rebuilt, and yes it did, I agree. It's a major reason I brought it in. Was also told it would stop the weird sound in the rear end when I hit the gas and let off. That sound has NOT gone away. Had a tune up, which "included a throttle body clean most people charge for" whatever. I paid enough. It was definitely charged for. But now we smell gas every time we slow the vehicle to a stop, so I guess we will be trying to figure out what they did wrong there! Belt and tensioner was replaced. Oil change. Front pads and rotors. Lots of good work for this guy. Was told a few things were bad which I didn't fix because honestly it was not a problem for me, such as the a/c. I honestly kept being told excuses as to why my vehicle wasn't done yet a couple of times. This and that. Blah blah blah. Wasn't very impressed by this at all. Was NOT ONCE shown an old part taken off the vehicle, which I found odd. My husband was right. These people took advantage of me, and I'm never going back.
