Even after we had a different mechanic, who is an actual professional, look at it and tell us what caused the damages which proved it was the fault of Milex. This place is a scam.** This place is your classic bait-and-switch. They offer a "lower" price, which then magically turns out to be more than other places anyway, just to get you in. 1 Star because it didn't offer less, I went in with my car got a quote then the worst thing I took it in for the work. Since I picked it up, I have taken it back 4 times with the same issues. The last time they called me and said they saw no issues and then called back in an hour and said all the gears were striped. They want another 4,300 to fix it after I gave them 4,200 the first time for a rebuilt. YOU WOULD THINK THAT THE FIRST TIME I paid 4,200 for a rebuild it would have been rebuilt but no. Needed a rebuilt transmission for my 2006 Mustang. It lasted Just 3 months past their warranty and died again. Paid someone else the second time and it stayed fixed. When they were working on the car, they dropped the exhaust on the floor, which damaged the catalytic converter, another $$$ to have that repaired the day after picking it up. My Father Hugh broke down in front of the Milex building on 1509 US Highway 19 in Holiday, Florida over this past weekend to get a Simple Alternator replaced. I did make an appearance and was a little Irate which should be understandable due to his serpentine belt shredded to piece's soon after he departed your shop. While I was there, my Father and this shop came to an agreement that any Re-work would be done for Free if this company was not found at Fault. Now with this being said, I tend to see no proof of your claim that is was a Faulty Alternator like stated by this Milex shop. I myself believe a Post check was not performed after installing the belt back on (Which is simply a 5-10 second engine start up after the belt is on to make sure it is in the Grooves properly or this sort of Belt Shredding happens). On top of that it, his van ran for a day (Don't you think a Faulty Alternator wouldn't even pull power from the battery)? On top of that, this Milex shop purchased the Alternator for their price Quoted for $460 (This is double of their Napa priced Alternators) which is done for the Reason of *Warranty in case it is truly faulty it cost {No cost} to Replace. This shops excuse was Faulty Alternator was *Not their Fault (Which anyone Reading this will know common sense *Yes it truly is because you obviously didn't test it). Then charged my 70 Year old Father who can Barely walk another $150 After he was quoted to get it replaced for *Free. Now I'm kindly asking for a Reply back (Soon) about this matter & the $150 to be Refunded back to the card it came from. If not it is my right to join along with all these others That way *Anyone's looking for a review can clearly understand that charging an Elderly man a Total of $1,200 for a simple alternator replacement is simply Barbaric and totally Unprofessional and yes, very much Crooked owner. Honestly, this is a 10 star review. Richard the owner, cares about his customers and makes sure every car leaving the shop is fully fixed and functional. We had a AC problem while here on vacation. He did everything he could to make sure our truck was fixed before driving home. And even tho we had to come back to get an extra part put in the morning we were supposed to leave, he personally worked on it and got us on our way. I will never go there again. After they told me what was wrong i said i would thake it to dealership. Richard said dont go there i can fix it. 3 weeks later and $2400 they still didnt have it running. And after th as t they s as id I as lso had a hole in my radiator right by where they were working on my computer. After several stories not being true. I told them my car is being towed out of there. Rembering I drove it in there. After signing a release letter stating more stories to make them look good I insisted on my money back . They said they put a radiator in so i paid for that even though car wouldn't start. Fords had my car running the next day. . The amiunt was two thousand dollars less. This should be a 10 star review, Richard and his crew are amazing. They went the extra mile for me and my family. Being from out of state and my ac went out, they took the time to find the problem and explained the issue. It took two days to fix bc of a faulty part but that was not there fault. Took my wife and kids back to our guest house while I waited. Richard is amazing and really values his customers and that's full pride to ensure we were taken care of. The following review is from my experience stopping in at Milex early 2017. They changed their page so I'm reposting on their new Yelp. Short version: the transmission that they said was "shot" required a 10 minute fix and is still running fine almost 20,000 miles later. Read on for the whole story. "If I could give them a 0 rating, I would. In January I relocated to Tarpon Springs for an expected 4 month stay. Unfortunately when I got here, the reverse gear in my Dodge Dakota had gotten weak and within a day stopped working altogether. 10 months earlier, I had the transmission rebuilt by a shop near my home in PA. Unfortunately, the shop is 1000 miles away so I figured I would check out some transmission shops here in FL hoping that it would be simple. I read some reviews on Google and elsewhere about Milex being an honest place and offering a free transmission check. I drive up there and sure enough there is a big decal on the window that claims the free transmission check. I leave it with the shop and walk up the road to the Wawa and then come back and he gives me the explanation. He says that my transmission is totally shot, that it used "piece of crap" parts, and that it is going to need a totally new transmission around the tune of $2400. I say that I can't believe that's true and that it has to be something simple since all of the other gears are working fine (the low gear is on the same band as the reverse gear in this truck). I tell him that I'm going to have to drive it back to Philly since it is under warranty still at the shop I used. He says no, the transmission is shot and that I'd be lucky to get it home and continues to try and sell me on a new transmission. I spend all night on google and Youtube researching and come to the conclusion that this "expert" has got to be wrong, but I don't have any tools with me to drop the trans and check it myself. So, I drive the truck all the way back to Philadelphia and in literally less than 5 minutes after getting the truck up on the lift and dropping the transmission pan, the mechanic fixes it. The adjustment screw had just come loose and fallen into the pan. Definitely not a good thing by my own mechanic when he did the job, but a SIMPLE FIX. My own mechanic made a simple mistake but came highly recommended by multiple people and, outside of the screw coming loose, has had no issues before or since. I would've happily paid Mr Transmission a couple hundred dollars to do this simple fix and prevented myself from driving 2000 miles. It makes you wonder what exactly their "free transmission check" actually is. If they had even dropped the pan for a moment, they would've seen the screw. With the free transmission check, you get what you pay for - nothing. They might do okay work because there are people in their shop, but my advice is to be very cautious about taking their word on what you need done with your vehicle. They tried to turn my simple job into a $2400 sale after their garbage "free transmission check" and that does not work for me at all. Cannot recommend." read more

After talking with 2 other transmission shops buying my a whole new $2500 transmission seemed to be the only fix for my car. I decided to take my car down the street to Milex for a free transmission check. After about 20 minutes of checking my car out i was informed that the cause to my problem was a faulty plug on my output speed sensor (an $11 part). The crew over at Milex showed me where the plug was and fixed my issue without charging me. Overall great service, friendly crew, and clean shop. I will be bringing any more automotive issues I have to them from now on. read more

I called milex today to see if they could install brakes and roaters that I had purchased from Auto zone. To my surprise, I bought the wrong sized roaters and they got a new set right away and installed them for me with no problem. The owner also gave me a coupon for a free oil change next time I come in. He offered to do it same day, which was super nice but I had already scheduled plans for that evening.
