NEVER going back! Rude, heartless. Apparently there is a time limit for people to shop there. My 81 year old mother who loves plants and gardens went there on public transportation as she doesn't drive. Milford Police called me to pick her up as Milford Gardens didn't want her to stay any longer. Her ride with people's express wasn't due to pick her up for another hour. I am out of town and not able to get her, my nephew thankfully was able to. Guess she's not buying any plants today. I would prefer zero stars! read more

Not only is my husband a landscaper, I'm an avid gardener at home and have been reworking our flowerbeds over the last few years. We often stop into Milford Gardens for our planting needs, even though there are other greenhouses and nurseries that are closer to our house. This place just has such a wide selection! My husband will pick up plants and small trees for certain jobs in Spring and Summer, and I like to grab some random colored sedum or hostas to fill my gardens throughout the season. Everything we've purchased from here has thrived and always ends up looking beautiful! The helpful staff is always there to greet you, as they can usually be found watering trees and plants while tinkering around the property. In addition to the greenery, they have an extensive collection of statuary, fountains, gazing balls, wind chimes, and memorial stones inside the shop. Need a giant Buddha? They've got one. Need a stone for your pet's grave? They've got a bunch. Need a bird feeder? There are plenty to choose from! We've ordered delivery and never experienced a problem with service or durability of plant. Recently, in search of landscaping items for an outdoor wedding, Dee generously threw in a total freebee. I purchased three $450 red maple trees from this company. I requested that the trees be planted several feet away from a new boardwalk I built in my backyard. Instead they were planted right next to the boardwalk so the branches hit u in the face as you walk. Natalie was the customer service person responsible for assisting me and was polite until the trees were planted in the wrong spot. I called to complain and asked if the trees could be moved and Natalie couldn't have been more rude and unhelpful. I tell everyone I know to stay away from this place. Very Rude and dishonest. We had two encounters and both were horrible. We only went back as we had a $250 credit and when we went to buy more and use the credit they would not honor the credit. It was a deposit for trees and we had changed our mind on one and they rather just steal and lie than be professional. The old owner lady is very rude and nasty. read more

Wow. Originally thought they were good. We spent nearly $4000 there over the past few years, and then the trees started dying. Only their trees. We have 17 trees in our yard, and have bought trees from 3 other nurseries and haven't had problems. The manager there has given us such a hassle, and answered the phone with "So, what do you want?" when we explained the problem. Ended up their compromise was half off replacement trees. We go there to pick out the trees, and the other manager didn't know of our issue (great communication between managers). She didn't even look at us when she said we'd have to come back when that manager was there. WHAT?! Fortunately another worker, April, was really nice, and we tagged the trees and waited for the manager to call us back. Then they wanted to charge us for having their dead trees removed! Long story short, we won't be going back there again. They are about 10% overpriced than other nurseries (even cedar mulch...$34/yd here, and $32/yd elsewhere). Not happy, especially at how they treat (ex) loyal customers. read more

I do not recommend this nursery. I have been in 2x when it wasn't busy and there is no one around. You have to find someone to help you and they seem impatient after a few minutes and then walk away. I spent more time looking for someone than getting their assistance. They are not friendly or helpful esp the 2 women. They are very overpriced and the only reason they get business is because there are no nurseries around. I left after 2 women walked away when i ask for suggestions because they said they had to help someone else. I ended up getting my tree elsewhere. I will never go back there. Bought several trees there last year. They don't have a warranty, if you ever want to have a tree replaced within a few months you could get the new tree at half price. They were horrible to work with, when the trees didn't even last a month they wanted to charge me half-price for replacement. I argued so much I was coined the name "the oak lady". Some pretty poor customer service. All I wanted was to matching red Oaks. They couldn't do that for me. The two Sycamores that they planted are both dead. For the money I wasted there, I bought a new trailer. I will be purchasing my trees from Home Depot or other locations and driving them to my house myself. Horrible horrible horrible experiences. Don't buy from there. They were great when they were a mom-and-pop shop about 10 years ago, but good business didn't do them any good. read more

We've bought arborvitaes and evergreens here. They were easy to work with and they were delivered/installed promptly. We then got professional landscaping from them and they did not disappoint. We couldn't be any happier with the job they did. They worked with us in our limited budget and utilized a lot of existing shrubs with new plants they brought in. We have been looking for a water feature for our front yard for some time. We've looked at ponds and waterfalls but nothing seemed to be perfect for our application. We stopped by one day-and found in their showroom the perfect water fountain for our purposes. They told us it was even on sale even more perfect. But when it operated it just didn't give us the sound of falling water that we were looking for. It was pretty disappointing. But then one of their staff said that she had an idea of how to modify the fountain and make it do what we were looking for. We were skeptical but said we were all for letting her try. One week later we went back-and everything they had done was perfect. Exactly what we were looking for. We had wanted to mount a Mary statue on top of it and they had fabricated the top and put the statue there for us to see when we came in. It was perfect. They went above and beyond to accommodate us and to make for us exactly what we wanted. They are great. And we recommend them highly. read more

Milford Gardens does NOT even deserve one star! The owner is extremely rude! I called them last weekend and asked if they still had apple trees left. I was told they had quite a few available for $25 each. She said if I was interested, to come back before they close for the season. Their sign out front says they are open for 6 more days. We hooked up our trailer to our car and planned on buying apple trees today. Once there, we were told they already had packed up all their apple trees for the season. We asked the owner if she would give us the $25 price on 2 trees next spring on the ones that were put away. She said, "no, I can't do that" and turned and walked away from us!!! So incredibly rude and unprofessional!!! I would NEVER go back!!! And, here we had planned on buying garden accessories for Christmas presents while there, too. Not anymore, not ever!!!! read more

Ordered evergreen trees and when delivered one was missing a large section. Most of the trees on their lot were in bad shape so I spent a lot of time picking mine out. Management was immediately defensive and reluctantly replaced the tree. However, they brought another one that they selected that was even worse. When the purchase was disputed, they lied and said they had contacted me several times when they really just tried to wash their hands of the problem. The trees I have are not healthy and the one is an eyesore. Milford Gardens never refunded the purchase nor did they try to rectify the situation any further. Buyer beware if you buy from here, you will never get any customer service once you walk out the door. read more

For the past 6 years we have purchased trees and bushes form Milford Gardens. We spend on the average $3000 our property was pretty open when we moved in. It's filling in nicely. We have had a 10 foot Blue Spruce and 2 arbs die within the 1st year, but without hesitation and only asking for photos all were replaced with no cost. Their prices are comparable to other nurseries but the service here makes our decision to return each year. Each year their staff goes above and beyond when planting our trees to make sure we are completely satisfied before they move to the next job. read more

So bad. Customer service is nill. They do not back the product after you leave the store. I can see from other reviews that I'm not the only one. First they said - give my dying tree some time to comeback even though obviously dead. Then when I called back, no response, then, 2nd try they said too much time had elapsed. Didn't offer any relief or discount. In fact, you'll get a fluffy irritating sort of sarcasm, quote: those trees can be beautiful so sorry for your loss. And, it was tough to grow this year. What? Spare me the generalities and have a little customer service. Did you forget I paid top dollar? By the way I've planted over 1000 trees and am a member of the Society of American Foresters. We bought 12 trees from Milford Garden, we paid for them to deliver and install them. The crew dug a hole and dropped the trees into it, basically all clay with no topsoil added. After a couple of months the trees looked like they might be dying. I called the owner (husband and wife team) and the husband hung up on me. Then in the spring I tried reaching out to the wife and she said the best they could do was 50 % off the cost of the tree if I returned the tree. I said I feel they did not plant the trees correctly, but all she said was they have been doing this for a long time and they know what they are doing. I will never go back to Milford Gardens again and I tell everyone I know the story. They have a very arrogant attitude after you buy from them. read more

Beautiful stock, and argumentative customer service when we hadn't done anything wrong. Trees were planted with full burlap/steel caging and 6" above the surrounding earth with 13" height of woodchips piled against the trunks. Researching the net/calling other nurseries confirmed that this is definitely improper planting and would likely set the tress up for problems and/or death eventually. Obviously exceeding one year warranty. We found ourselves having to hire elsewhere to replant. read more

Avoid Milford Gardens. Hired them to put in a few plants & trim some trees. Surprized that it cost $600 but didnt realized that we got the bonus - a cut sprinkler line. I talked with the infamous "Steve" and asked if he can get his guys out to fix it before winter. Said he would charge $50 for a service call. A "service call" on a mistake by your staff??? Confirmed that I paid him to do "X" but not "Y". His team made a mistake and needs to correct it. He hung up on me. Wow! Hang up on your ex-customers? I purchased a tree and some landscaping. 5 shrubs removed, all dirt in 2 small (root filled) beds removed and replaced. They made appointments, did not show up or call. Arriving late p.m. for a early appointment, told me to pay an additional 140. because of so many roots. They planted the tree and started removing the shrubs, didn't finish. Calling to see when they would return, the manager said " My guys spent so much time there, actually you should owe us an additional 1,000. to finish this job, we'll finish when we get a chance!" Speaking to the manager every other day, always getting some excuse, with a nasty and rude attitude. Deciding to take them to small claims court, hire someone else, I called one last time. Was told they had fired the 2 men that worked on my job, finding they had padded hours they had spent on jobs, they would finish my job today. This spring the tree is dead, their policy to refund 1/2 price of the tree is not worth dealing with this horrible company. read more

I am shocked and disgusted by the way I was just spoke to by the owner of Milford Gardens. We bought our tree there a few weeks ago and it is already struggling. I brought in a few leaves for them to look at. An employee asked that next time to please bring them in a bag, no problem. When the owner was given the leaves he aggressively told me how I could have just diseased his entire nursery by bringing in the leaves. I apologized and he continued to berate me. He even said "and I am being nicer than I usually am to most people". I told him that was sad that he talked to people so rudely. He continued to publicly belittle me and talk down to me in front of my girls. As he wouldn't help me, I told him he would just go somewhere else. I kept my composure the entire time, and the other employee even followed me out and apologized. After I informed my husband of the way I was treated, he called the owner who continued to be aggressive with him. My husband asked for them to come get the tree and refund our money as it is clearly struggling and they are unwilling to help. The owner refused saying the tree isn't dead and hung up on My husband. I came in with the intention of buying more plants and trees today, but will never go back there again. We wanted to support a small local business and we were treated horribly. read more

Dee the sales girl and manager said " No they would take care of everything ,they bring peat and dirt All lies no dirt no peat .We also wanted a large evergreen for privacy in the back .We explained we wanted something small enough that NO heavy equipment be used . She promised a hand cart would be enough for the tree .Delivery day. Three idiots show up .They gouge holes in the earth cram the trees I watched them drop several times shaking loose the root balls .Then in the back yard and whole side yard they carelessly drove equipment over mine and the neighbors yard .so the trees looked horrible after a year I called .Miss Dee is one rude woman . Now 2 years later our beautiful royal maple 1200$ for just the one .Once gorgeous now the whole middle is dying out . Shame on you Milford Gardens .
