We picked a rich brown, she applied the color, said she would be back in 15 minutes but returned 25 minutes later. By then, my hair was black. After rinsing and drying, it was so dark, I was upset. She took forever it seemed to do a trim of 1/2 inch, and I just wanted to get out of there. No, I did not complain to the owner or stylist, but I should have; I was just upset, and the stylist knew it. I just need to find someone I can trust and who is experienced. I ended up going home and finding a product online that would strip out color gently, and after 3 applications of this product, my hair looked medium brown again instead of black. So disappointed in this local salon; maybe they should monitor or mentor their new hires better. I had gone here before for a trim with a different stylist, and she did do a good job, but she is part-time and is hard to schedule with.

She did her best to lift out the red, and she ended up bleaching out as much as she could, and in the end we decided to leave what was bleached and have light pink streaks throughout the rest of my hair, it turned out kinda like a reverse ombre, and I LOVE it!! I showed her a picture of how I wanted it cut, and she did it BETTER! I wanted it very short in the back, longer strands on the sides and cute side bangs in the front. Most salons boast that they are up to date on the latest cuts and styles when they definitely are not, all they know are layers and straight edges. Melissa understood exactly what I wanted, and the fact that certain cuts are SUPPOSED to be uneven, whether it be the back, sides, bangs etc. Now that I have found Jagged Edge, I will not go anywhere else, and will recommend this salon to everyone that I know! I received a reply stating to go ahead and book and she would make a note that I'd only like to be paired with Adwoa. I thanked her and attempted to book but could not bypass the question for the Braider so I put anyone available. When I book, I always answer the question No to being paired with someone else if need be. I received several confirmation texts and emails with my appointment time for 5:30 pm with Adwoa. The day of my visit at 12:11 pm I received a text with an appointment reminder with Pokes. That same day at 2:30 pm I was asked to come at 4:30 pm which I agreed. At 2:55 pm I then received another text with an appointment reminder for Helena at 4pm. At that point I decided to keep my 4:30 pm because I would not have made the 4pm which I'm glad I did because she was still busy with another customer and did not get to me until 5pm. That is 2 changes to the Braider and 2 changes to the time. When I asked the Booker about all the changes and why I was rescheduled with 2 different people she said sometimes there are issues and they have to switch Braiders. She then asked if I listed on the appointment slip that I did not want to be paired with someone else and I told her Yes. She pulled up the appointment and showed me that I had requested anyone available but I explained to her that I was not able to leave that part blank because Adwoa was not listed on the drop down menu and that she had said she would make sure I was paired with Adwoa. She did apologize but that was not enough. She should have remembered my request or once I arrived, explained to me why I had been switched around and rescheduled. Although Helena did a good job on my hair, I think that this was a major miscommunication issue. I did reach out to Mimi as she requested before you do a review, but after more than 24 hours not hearing back from her, I decided to go ahead and do the review even though I was reluctant. I have been to this shop many times but this really disappointed and frustrated me that it was handled so poorly.

I really love Michelle as a stylist, I had her do my hair 4-5 years ago and remembered her since…read morethen... but I couldn't remember her name. I was finally able to find her again through Diva's Facebook page and I'm so glad. I booked a haircut and full highlight, wanting to go back to my natural color so my hair could continue to grow and be healthy. I didn't realize I should have booked for a color correction, but Michelle moved her clients around to give more time to do my hair. I would have been more than understanding to reschedule, but thankful she was able to fit me in! One of the other ladies was amazing as well running to the store to get more product for my hair. It doesn't look like a huge change, but this was removing box color from my hair so it could better match my roots and a treatment to prevent damage. I am also not a huge talker and shy during appointments like this, but it didn't feel awkward at all and I had a chance to just enjoy being pampered and relax. Overall, I'm so grateful Michelle and the ladies were so accommodating and understanding with me. There wasn't frustration even for a split second. I will continue coming back to Michelle and recommending Diva's to everyone!
