Some of them were good, others....not so much. I've payed $10 for a haircut and well over $50 for one. I've "been around the block" so to speak when it comes to barbershops in Naperville/Aurora. I came to try out this shop and my only regret is not trying this place out earlier! Carolyn is hands down a master at her craft and gave me one of the best haircuts I've received in a very long time. She was friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable and provided this all in a timely manner that didn't break the bank either. A place like this sounds too good to be true but I can assure you that is not the case here. Give Inspired by Carolyn a try because I'm so glad I did! I couldn't get in and out of a black barber in less than two hours. I asked my black barber why it takes so long and he said "because your hair has to be blended." It just so happened that I tried to see my former barber and he informed me that he wasn't cutting hair at his old location, and needed a few weeks to find a new one that I wound up going to Penny at Classic cuts. She did a great job, and I was in and out in less than 30 mins. She blended my hair just fine. I had always been trained that blacks knew how to handle black hair better. I definitely learned something new. Penny got my business. I don't have time to sit in barber shops all day. I don't have very much hair so my previous barbers I'm inclined to believe are full of doo doo.

She does a great job cutting his hair and takes the time to do his sideburns, around his ears, and the back of his neck. Which seems like a no brainer but I've taken him a couple places where the person won't do it "because he's little and won't sit still for it." Even after I say he will. So his hair looked unfinished and we never went back to those places. I also like that she takes her time. We've gone to kid places and barber shops and they basically push his head around and give him a subpar 5 minute cut just because he's little. I know he's little but I'm not going to have him walking around looking silly; I've put in work with him so that he sits still (for a 2 yr old). Aside from Stephanie only one other person (a barber) actually took their time and gave him an appropriate cut. She also gives him lots of suckers so he likes that part. His cut is $15 which is pretty much in the ball park for a kids' cut in the area (aside from a Super Cuts etc type spot). I also get my hair cut with her and I've loved every cut and I'm super picky about my hair. She listens and makes suggestions. Doesn't try to sell a bunch of stuff and, my favorite part, she doesn't put a lot (if any) product in my hair. I wash my hair 1-2 times a week and use zero product beyond shampoo/conditioner so any extra stuff in my hair really throws it off. I've not gotten it colored by Stephanie but I'm thinking it may be time. It's been over a year since I last colored it so maybe it's time? Bonus: online scheduling via Vagaro. I can make our appts super easy. My schedule is complex so calling places and playing the Appointment Game takes up an embarrassing amount of time for me and the poor person on the other end. This is perfect!

However, sometimes she is finishing up doing someone's hair which can take awhile if she is the only one there.
