I paid $380 for boho knotless braids, including extra for human hair, and specifically expressed to the manager/stylist that I wanted the braids to go long all the way to the tips. Unfortunately, that is not what I received at all. The stylist spent more time talking, stopping, and getting distracted than actually focusing on the service I requested. Before leaving, I even addressed my concerns and showed the owner, Martha, exactly what I asked for versus what I got. Instead of trying to offer a solution or resolve the issue professionally, she immediately became defensive and started talking over me. I've been a customer for years, and the customer service is nowhere near what it used to be 5 years ago when I first started coming here. Zero stars if I could..Customer Service is definitely lacking in the shop and beauty supply. I stopped patronizing the shop a long time ago after 2 visits and my hair being a mess BOTH times big parts and messy braiding I will not give them a 3rd time to waste my money..The beauty supply cashier was rude too when someone walks in your business to spend their money they should be greeted and acknowledged as well as thanked for spending their money after purchase. Then she told me my total and then did NOT give me the correct change.. Unfortunately, my experience today has changed my view of this business. I called in advance to confirm that a credit from a previous visit would be applied. I'm a repeat customer who tips on each visit. I booked for my daughter and myself, which resulted in an aproximate $600 cost. I confirmed with my braider about the additional deposit as well( $55) When checking out there was a bit of a discrepancy in the amt due that the braider stated and the amount the receptionist stated- which was in my favor. I paid the larger amount. Upon leaving I realized that I paid and tipped without the additional credit taken into account. I called multiple times right after leaving to resolve. I was sent to vm. I left a vm and sent a message to their social media and was ignored even though the message was viewed. Even if someone called me and said they were unable to re-evaluate the credit, I could understand because it was my error not noticing before payment(we were rushing to leave for my niece's graduation) but to be ignored after they contacted me via phone the same morning to make sure we were coming was rude. I would have even accepted if they kept the credit on my account for a future visit, but to ignore a repeat customer that has paid and tipped on multiple occasions for a trivial amount says something about the way they do business. I even shared with my braider that I came to their salon over one closer to my home and more convenient. Perhaps I should just eat the cost and move on, but on principle they have now lost a good client who has also referred business to them over a mere $55 If this is how good clients are treated, I'll spend my money elsewhere. Made an appointment online, days in advance for a certain time and person. When I arrived, I was told to wait. I waited for an hour and then they finally got me back in the chair but not with the young lady I booked with. I told the braider what I wanted and she begins to braid my hair. Another person comes to help her and the woman is singing in my ear for hours. My hair took about 3 hours but they weren't at all full. My knotless braids don't lay flat well, my hair doesn't look good when it's down, my boxes and parts are different sizes and I can't believe I paid 250, plus deposit, and a 10 dollar tip. My scheduled appointment was with Ke at 930a for a boho style. Upon arriving and consulting it was immediately decided that growing out my pixie, my hair wasn't long enough to support the style. Ke suggested Small box braids and a braider (not her) that was best suited to perform that service. I was then seated and service started within 20 mins of my 930a appt time w/ a beautiful soul --Gillian. Gillian was polite and professional. She was gentle for the most part in her braiding (catching the short growing nape of my pixie cut) she hummed, sang and talked quietly on her EarPod throughout my appointment. She has a lovely soothing voice. Gillian braided my entire head ALONE except for 20 minutes Ke assisted in the longest 2 rows across braiding down the braids. I knew my braids were going to look fire before taking the first look in the mirror. Every braided that walked past where she was working, constantly complimented her work and how nice of a job she was doing, the entire time she worked! I don't know why this girl does not have a station to work from! She was working with her supplies in a chair. Gillian's work and attitude are phenomenal and I hope my tip reflected my appreciation . I love this shop I travel 50 miles each trip just to get my hair braided here, I've begun bringing my daughter as well and they have grown her severely damaged hair and got it healthy again. Ke is my Braider and my daughter has had Mina and Janet. I love that both showed interest in the care of my teen hair and take very good care of us. And everyone I've come across is helpful and nice. Knotless are superb and done quick and efficient and my daughter recently got the soft Locs and they're still fresh looking after 4 weeks. Going tomorrow to get simple 2 stitch braids and yes! The stylist was extremely rude and refused to talk to my daughter for no reason. She deliberately didn't listen to what my daughter wanted done to her hair, and was giving her snide looks the whole time. The service used to be poor, appointments weren't remembered or you would wait for 30 minutes or more. The salon has been renovated, the hair side is much bigger and nicer. First off the day I picked they said they could not do Saturday but could do Friday and I go with their pick. I send them a style at least 2-3 hrs later and they sent me a very rude text message that I exceeded the maximum number of times for prices and they never ever gave me a set price in the first place. It is quite rude and disrespectful to do business with people of this caliber, I work extremely hard for my money. It's not easy out here and to not be able to receive a straight answer from a business I would never ever in life again give them my business I would never ever recommend anyone to their braid or beauty supply from the disrespect that they have shown, I had no reason to be treated in such manner that they treated me and I am awfully upset and disgusted with their business. I got my hair braided by Mimi yesterday. I initially went in for knotless but just ended up getting regular box braids because she informed me that they would not last long if my hair grows fast. I Went here not even a week ago to get knotless braids that i paid $200 for that are already coming down and slipping and loom nappy. The lady used so much jam on my hair that my edges won't even sit down. I called about my hair looking bad yesterday and was asked to send a picture of my hair to a number which i did and got no respond so i gave them a call and spoke with the woman who did my hair and she told me that the "large knotless" which my braids aren't big at all don't last that long. And with certain hair textures knotless braids aren't good. I was highly upset and she told me herself that she would refund me $50 if i came back to Bolingbrook to there shop. So i went back today to speak with the lady and get my refund and she told me that my hair doesn't look that bad and that she was not giving me anything, she then turned around and started speaking in her language about me to the other woman and then turn and continued braiding the persons hair she was doing. I asked the lady in the front if i could speak with the shop owner and she told me she was the Owner which i knew she was not because i have been in this shop before. I explained to her my issue and then she said "actually Martha is the owner and you can talk to her and i asked for her number she gave me card and said i could call the number in there. The first time I went here Mimi braided my hair and she did a very good job. Honestly I would give her 5 stars! The reason why I'm giving this shop 1 star is because of my second experience which I'll explain below: A month after Mimi braided my hair, I noticed that some braids on top of my head were kinda loose and very frizzy. I made an appointment to get the braids on top of my hair redone and wanted it with Mimi but unfortunately she was unavailable that day, but that was fine. I arrived at the shop on time only for them to say that there were busy and ask if I can come back about an hour later. I said okay, no problem and came back an hour later. The shop was still busy so I had to wait again but that wasn't a big deal since I can see that they were really busy. However I didn't expect to sit there and have to wait for 3 hours especially since I did have an appointment (i made it about 2-3 days in advance). After waiting 3 hours, someone was finally available to do my hair. Lucy told me how much it would cost to redo the braids however the price was higher than I was expecting especially since I paid a lot of money about a month ago to get my hair braided. I asked if we can do it for a lower price and Lucy seemed reluctant to do it so. So I decided to leave because I didn't want to fight over prices or anything and honestly I was tired anyway after just sitting around for 3 hours waiting for a chair to open up. When she noticed that I wanted leave she spoke to someone then agreed to do my hair at a lower price. So she begins braiding my hair and I felt as if she was a bit rough on my head and most likely upset that she was fixing my head for a lower price. What she didn't know was that I speak and can understand French/ Creole. The whole time she was doing my hair she was complaining in French (or a language very similar to French) about how she was not getting a lot of money for my hair and how it wasn't worth it. Another person was helping her and commented that there might not be enough braiding hair to finish my hair and Lucy basically said in French "that's okay, were not getting paid much, I'm not going to open another pack" The entire time Lucy was complaining in French about doing my hair and that made me feel very uncomfortable and worried that she was going to do a poor job. I just wanted to leave. I didn't get upset with her, I didn't want any drama or to start an argument with her. I did not force her or beg her to do my hair so if she felt like the amount of money I was willing to pay wasn't enough she honestly should've just told me that and I would've understood and just left. Overall I will NOT be coming back here. It's so rude to complain about a customer INFRONT of them, even if you think they don't understand the language you're speaking.
