We popped into this place with only thirty minutes until closing time. It was an emotional day for my kids who had attended the funeral of their grandparents earlier in the day. Honestly, I was looking for a bathroom and they were into the military clothing and paraphernalia. The clerk was kind enough to bend the rules and let me go-beats the porta potties at Ft. Sam. Typical surplus store but has some unique items that one won't normally find. Definitely the best selection I've ever seen. The only downside for be is the whole wall of Made In China product idolized the greatest embarrassment in the "American Experiment". Had a tough time not puking on all the Donald Trump crap - but just because I found it offensive doesn't mean that others have to. One of our great freedoms that too many have forgotten. read more

Not the biggest selection but fair. They had quite a few used uniforms which I suppose reflects the proximity to the area's military bases. But, other than that, just a small assortment of the standard issue surplus items you'd normally expect to find. But, if you are looking for a used Army uniform with some rank or other insignia on it, this is the place. read more

Probably the best military surplus shop in San Antonio. Unfortunately, such stores are mere shells of what they were back in the 80s and even early 90s; but Military City Surplus is your best bet if there is an item of militaria you are looking for. The majority of their offerings are uniforms, but I did pick up a T-10 parachute at a decent price there (I jumped with them many years ago, and wanted one for the "man cave"). Definitely worth a stop even if you're not looking for anything in particular! read more

I have been looking everywhere for a place to review this surplus store! I decided to add the store to yelp because I really feel the need to let folks know about this place. I was in San Antonio at the end of July 2014 and was searching for a military supply store so I could buy a much-needed uniform without spending a fortune. Upon entering the store, I was a little surprised at how small it looked. However, it is very well-organized and clean. I was looking specifically for digital ACU and was very pleased to find an entire rack of both new and used pants and shirts for AMAZING prices. Although sadly they did not have my size of pants, I was able to find two used shirts in great condition for the incredible price of $14.95 each! They have various branch uniforms as well, so it's not limited to just Army ACU - and new uniforms are only $24.95 per piece! I did a little more exploring and was delighted to find a large bin full of patrol caps, boonie hats, and various pouches and bags. Although it was kind of hit-and-miss as to what sizes were available, it sure was fun digging through everything. There were several styles of camo for the different military branches there, too. Apparently size 7 1/8 is hard to come by in digital ACU but there were plenty of other sizes available. Although I wasn't looking for a backpack at the time, I happened upon a fantastic 3-day pack in digital ACU which was basically exactly what I was planning to get at a later time. When I saw the price tag, I had no choice but to go ahead and buy it. $60 for a $150 pack?? I'll take that! They have a limited selection of military boots, too. I saw Bates and Belleville boxes, but since I already have my boots I didn't look too closely at those. There is a mixture of used and new equipment all over the store, and although most of it is pretty well-organized, a little searching might net you something you weren't expecting. They also have a pretty good selection of morale patches, paracord, some gun equipment, and other tactical supplies. When I got ready to check out, the young man at the register was super polite and friendly. He was the only one working at that time and had been busy helping a young man who had just enlisted in the Army to gather some supplies, but even then he quickly checked on us to see if we needed anything. He was happy to let us roam around on our own (I absolutely hate it when sales people follow me around, so this alone is worth 5 stars!). I asked him when he thought my size pants might come in, and he was very gracious in explaining that since they are a surplus store, it depends on what is brought in on any given day. He offered to take my name and call me when any pants in my size came in and said he would hold them until I could come and get them, saying that my size is very popular and doesn't stay around long. I thanked him, explaining that I was from out of town but BOY did I appreciate that offer. If I lived in SA I would undoubtedly be in that store every week! Overall, shopping here was a wonderful experience. I am completely satisfied with my purchases and I will definitely be going back there the next time I'm in town. Their website is a bit limited but their Facebook page has a few more photos and details. I would love it even more if they would consider adding online shopping and shipping to out of town locations, but I know that's not always feasible for small, independent businesses. Something to think about, though. I would order from these guys in a heartbeat! If you are shopping for uniforms or other gear, go here! You will not be disappointed. read more
