Planning a wedding in New Hampshire while living in DC is no easy feat. That's why we called in…read morePhebe at Making ME Event Planning Firm and never looked back. Phebe is the queen of vintage and romantic design. She totally got the vibe we were going for, took the ball and ran with it. She had wonderful recommendations on how to save money, and even did many DIY projects on our behalf (glazing mason jars anyone?). One of her great recommendations was getting flowers from Whole Foods, which I would guess saved us at least $1,000. Phebe was always accessible via phone and email whenever we needed her. She kept us on track with checklists and reminders of things we needed to do. We had a shared Pinterest board that I kept filling with ideas, so I always felt involved. In the end, our wedding day was absolutely perfect. I didn't stress one bit knowing Phebe was in charge. Our guests are still raving about how well designed and uniquely personalized our wedding was. We owe tons of thanks to Phebe and her team for Making ME a happy bride.

My husband Mike and I used Making ME Event Planning for our wedding this past September, and I must…read moresay I honestly do not know how I could have gotten married without Phebe. This is coming from an absolute and udder control freak. Once Phebe was on our team, she kept up with my husband and I, months prior to the wedding, to make sure we were accomplishing every little detail associated with getting married and making sure our vision of what our special day would look like came out. She also kept both Mike and I engaged in the entire process, this was a HUGE plus! Alot of planners we talked to, would only talk to me, that did not sit well with Mike and I. Her professionalism and team made working with her an absolute dream come true. A few days before the wedding, Phebe came over to go over our final production list, that listed hour by hour what would be going on, where each of us should be. It really put both Mike and I at ease because we knew that we could put the entire wedding, one of the most important days of our lives, into the hands of Phebe and her team. The morning of our wedding, Phebe called both my husband and I to make sure we were up and going and if there was anything last minute that we needed. That morning while we got ready Phebe went to the reception hall to make sure everything was set up correctly, and make sure everything was running smoothly. Once we got to the church, Phebe came out to the limo to notify me of a few problems that she wanted to check with me on. Apparently the florist had dropped the ball and put red bows in place of orange bows down the aisle, and had forgotten the rose petals for a big exit. Phebe said no worries she would remove the bows, and during the ceremony she ran over to the local grocery store to purchase roses so we could still have our big exit. That exit ended up being one of my favorite photos from the entire day and it only happened because of Phebe. Phebe also ran interference on some issues that I did not even know happened until I got back from my Honeymoon, including upset guests about seating arrangements, helping me with my 62 tie bustle, making sure my husband and I were where we needed to be at all times, making sure we both ate and were well hydrated, and making sure our vendors had a go to person besides my husband and I. I could honestly go on and go for hours about Making ME Event Planning, Phebe, and her staff. My husband and I are so blessed to have had her there in our corner so we could concentrate on what was important, enjoying our friends and family on an amazing day, that was filled with love and happiness, and honestly not an once of drama because of Phebe. I cannot recommended her and her team enough! And I can promise you, if you hire Making ME Event Planning, you will understand from the first time you talk to Phebe, exactly how special and wonderful it is to work with her.

It was luncheon food starting with assorted cheeses, fresh fruit, three different types of quiche, three different gourmet sandwiches, a delicious tropical pasta salad, and a spinach strawberry salad. They provided yummy cookies and brownies for dessert. I received many compliments for the food. They provided two servers to set up and clean up and they did a wonderful job. They were very pleasant, attentive, efficient and unobtrusive. We also had a cake that we bought separately and the staff was more than willing to cut it for us. Jamie was very pleasant to work with and was very patient with all of my questions, requests, and changes. I am looking forward to hosting another event so I can use them again!

I spent a long time trying to decide on a caterer since food (and cost) were very important to me…read morefor my wedding. Alison, the event manager, not only acts as your caterer but she really does handle the event coordinator role too, and she is very familiar with it, so ladies, you can sit back and relax. Rentals, decorations, food - they handle it ALL so don't bother hiring an event coordinator - trust me, with these guys you don't need one. Budget: The people at Two Chefs really do work with your budget. In fact, they work harder than the typical caterer to be within your budget, whatever it may be. Alison understood me from the get-go and knew straight away what things could be done to lessen the numbers while still being completely honest with me. Actually, I think they ended up making it UNDER-my budget. Tasting: I ended up doing a tasting with Walter (one of the three head chefs) and he was phenomenal, staying with us to joke around and answer any questions we had. When we gave him our opinions on the food (the original chicken we had was a little dry and we weren't fond of the foccacia for a wedding setting), he didn't get upset. Instead, he pondered for a while and recommended a ton of other chicken dishes. That's what I call being a great chef. You don't take things personally, instead you aim to help your client as best you can. The meats at the tasting were all tender and juicy, the salad was extremely fresh (we had a choice of 3!) and the mashed potatoes were silky smooth and left you wanting more. Issues?: There was a slight problem with the linen numbers the day before the wedding and I started to get a panicky, but Steve (another head chef) stepped in and said that he'd take care of it. He even called me a second time to reassure me and tell me not to be worried about a thing. Again, amazing. Day of: Kathy (event coordinator) was a comforting presence at my side at all times to make sure I had everything I needed and to remind me of when I needed to do things. Steve (one of the 3 head chefs) was always there bringing me food so that I would be able to eat. Thank you Steve! What people said?: It was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. One friend said that normally the beef is either way undercooked or really dried out, but this was perfectly cooked beef and he had several helpings. And they were extremely efficient at clearing away plates, the place was spotless! More importantly, you're not a number to them - you become someone they want to get to know personally and to make happy - which is something you really can't pay for. Forget the big expensive caterers who end up costing you a fortune for food and service, Two Chefs works the service cost in so that you can see the final number and they work extra hard to make your wedding (or any event) perfect.

Even with unusually short notice, they did a phenomenal job: They helped plan all the remaining details, bringing our attention to things we had not considered and giving us great ideas and recommendations all along the way. Their experience planning and coordinating numerous weddings gave us the confidence to trust their advice. They took care of all the setup/breakdown and decorations with detail and precision. They personalized the design to our needs. They researched vendors we had not yet secured, priced out and purchased all of the extras needed for the setup (e.g. flowers, linens, desserts, personalized signs), and coordinated with the venue, vendors, and ceremony participants beforehand and on the day of. I cannot even list all the details they managed, and they made sure everything was covered. Before we hired them, we were doing all the planning ourselves (in the midst of busy work schedules and moving). I honestly cannot imagine how we would have finished the remaining planning and setup/breakdown without their help. They took a huge load off our shoulders and allowed us (and our family and friends) to thoroughly enjoy our wedding week with as little stress as possible. All of this was for a reasonable price, far more affordable than what many wedding planners and coordinators charge. The wedding was beautiful from start to finish, and our family and friends are still talking about it. I would absolutely recommend Sweetly Designed Events for a wedding or any other major event.
