Don't buy here. I…read morecalled about three weeks ago to ask about Pokémon Scarlet & Violet single booster packs and was quoted $8 per pack. That's above MSRP, but still reasonable if you can't find them at retail. Yesterday, before making the 30-minute drive, I called again to confirm prices. I asked about Prismatic Evolutions, Pokémon 151, and Scarlet & Violet. The employee knew some of the prices himself but asked a female coworker to help with and confirm the others. I could clearly hear their conversation over the phone. Between the two of them, they quoted Prismatic Evolutions at $15 per pack, Pokémon 151 at $30 per pack, and Scarlet & Violet at $9 per pack. After confirming the prices, the employee repeated them to me, so I made the drive based on the information they gave me. When I arrived, the Scarlet & Violet packs were marked $12 each. I told them I had literally just called and was quoted $9 per pack. Instead of acknowledging that the wrong price had been given over the phone, the female employee denied that anyone had ever quoted me $9 and even claimed that no one had spoken to me on the phone. That made absolutely no sense since I had called less than 30 minutes earlier, heard the employee ask her for help confirming prices, and then heard the prices they gave me. The extra $3 per pack wasn't even the biggest issue. Mistakes happen. What bothered me was the dishonesty and refusal to simply say, "I'm sorry, we gave you the wrong price over the phone." Instead, they acted like I was making it up. To make things worse, another customer laughed and said, "The price is $12 for you, haha." Whether it was a joke or not, it made the experience even worse. What they don't realize is that if they had simply honored the quoted price--or even admitted the mistake--I was prepared to spend a couple thousand dollars that day on ETBs, booster packs, and singles. Instead, they lost a customer over $3 a pack and the way they handled the situation. It felt like a bait-and-switch. They tell you one price over the phone, charge a different price when you arrive, and then deny ever giving you the original quote or even speaking to you. Customer service and honesty go a long way, and this place showed me exactly how they treat customers. Save yourself the drive, your time, and your money. There are plenty of better card shops that deserve your business.

The guy working downstairs was helping someone move a piece out of the basement, but he still took the time to say hello. Kinda small, but appreciate that stuff. :) The specialty is clearly home-related merchandise, and I'd recommend checking The Loft out for furniture like credenzas, sofa tables, buffets, dressers and the like. There were a lot of cool options for that kind of furniture and all of it natural, beautiful wood and most of it in good shape. Also those antlers. Lots of mounted antlers of all shapes and sizes and most in the $50-75 range. The jewelry that I saw wasn't anything special and I didn't see much in the way of clothing aside from a few coats and fur stoles. The prices were moderate. I picked up a couple of items and was surprised at the higher-than-I'd've-thought expense, but mostly moderate. [I'd've=probably not a word.] In addition, I overheard a woman buying set of silverware haggle mildly with the shopkeeper and they knocked 10% off. A good reminder to me that it never hurts to ask for a better price at an antique store!

The cast of characters that visited and cool musicians- one day Devo came popping through handing out 3-D buttons with those flower pot looking things on their heads and strange jumpsuits. "It's not too late To whip it Into shape Shape it up Get straight Go forward Move ahead" my daughter wore my old jacket from 1979 (in picture) . The nice staff were very friendly and enamored with the jacket and the manager took some pictures which gave my daughter a huge tickle. I think the cat's name is Bob Fuchs and he's been there since the late '80s and a good ambassador of the brand and so kind to indulge us. This is a must visit if you're ever in Minneapolis set aside some time it's worth every minute!

The Record Spot is a very small "hole-in-the-wall" shop, with enough room to fit maybe 5 or 6 folks standing inside flipping through the bins. The owner is super-friendly, and appears to have an affinity to late 70s, early 80s punk, new wave, and early modern rock. All of the pricing is on masking tape, priced fairly, and I couldn't find one record in the bin that was less than VG+ condition. Overall, the store is very well organized, and I recommend taking a look through the $1 and $2 bins. The sleeves in these bins are pretty beat, but the records I picked up all play clean and were a real bargain. I loved at the end, when I was checking out, how the owner wanted to know more about the records I was snagging. I picked up clean copies of U2's Boy and October at very fair prices, where he even shaved a couple of bucks off the total. If you're driving by fast enough, you'll miss this little gem of a record store. It's worth a visit if you're looking for classics in good shape at a fair price.

There's a listening station where you can take a seat and relax with a new find, they had some mystery bags for $5. They also buy your used records, so I brought a few in and got some store credit. SolSta can also be found at various events with their bus full of vinyl. Owners were super nice and open for questions even though they were busy packing for an event. Reasonably priced vinyl, street parking, great place to hang out.

Anecdote from my recent visit: I went a couple of weeks ago and, while I browsed the merch, I eavesdropped on the clerk's convo with her friend. She was like, "OMG, you just have to come in and look at this bag.... Yeah, it's gorgeous! And It's probably not going to last very long because it's so cheap... and it's a FRYE!" Simultaneously as the word FRYE came out of the shop-girl's mouth, I saw the bag. I should say, I saw THE bag: a camel-colored, buttery leather backpack with vintage looks and modern functionality (laptop pouch!) for $40. I had to have it. After she hung up the phone, I sheepishly asked the clerk, "Is this the bag you were talking about? Because I'm a rude, rude person and was listening to your entire conversation." I braced myself to hear that her friend wanted it, but luckily, she replied with, "Yes! I'm in love with that thing... you should definitely buy it!" So, I just had to follow her advice, right? I even offered to write her friend a letter with my apologies for eavesdropping her out of an amazing leather bag... and my condolences, because she'll never see the wonder that is this bag. Girl, if you are reading this, I'm sorry... but I'm also not sorry at all.

Their new-CD…read moreselection is priced at pretty much the same cost as elsewhere, but the used CDs (which are mixed in) are older, harder to find things at very good prices. I'd highly recommend checking out this place if you're into good recordings of classical music! I had to go through it quickly, and will be returning soon to look more thoroughly.
