    Lilac latte with oatmilk

Fun coffee shop that doubles as a bookstore! I tried the violet cream latte, which the barista recommended iced. It had a nice, subtle favor. I'm glad I tried it, but I probably wouldn't get that flavor again. The café space itself is cozy with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (plus free street parking). Conveniently located in adorable downtown Hopkins!

This was a fun bookstore stop on my Indie Bookstore Passport tour. I wish I lived closer, because the vibe was very chill. What a cool concept to incorporate beers/coffee/bookstore. In the back of the shop there was comfortable chairs / sofa for checking out a book before purchasing. I really love it when a bookstore does this. The book selection was decent, and included new releases and books that were interesting. There were also some gift shop type items for sale. There were people camped out at the bar or tabletops, and they looked to be working or studying. As a result, it felt like you had to be "library quiet" and couldn't have a conversation while having your beer/coffee. Introverts would really love this spot!

Cute coffee shop and bookstore right on Mainstreet Hopkins. The coffee was very good, I had a peppermint mocha. The staff was kind and friendly and the overall ambiance very welcoming.

This is a cool coffee (they also have beer on tap) shop. It's been on my list to check out for a while now. They have a book shop that sells a good selection of books and other novelties. They have a bit of seating in the main area but more seating in the back and a private room as well. I will say it was extremely quiet when we went in and it felt like even having small convo while looking at products was being too loud but they do have a patio as well so we ended up sitting out there to chat. We ended up ordering white chocolate matcha lattes. It wasn't my fav ML but decent enough. I'd probably order something different next time. The atmosphere generally feels chill & inclusive of all individuals. Parking was pretty easy on the street. Seems like they host events certain days, would be cool to check those out.

What can I say...I have been coming to Cream & Amber since they opened and they have the best scones in the Twin Cities. Not only that, but they take great care in mixing it up and making a great variety of creative ones, like Lemon Lavender, Honey Cinnamon, etc. My very favorite is the Cherry Chocolate Chip - which is very rare, but I also enjoy the Chocolate Chip. They are super kind when I call them in the mornings to ask what kind they are making for the day. They are also very supportive of trans kids, and so am I. Thank you team Cream & Amber and keep up the great work!!!

I went to Cream & Amber for a fun murder mystery party! For $55, we got 2 mystery books chosen from themes we could pick, candy bags, a drink ticket, and a fun murder mystery activity! It was a fun event and I loved our individually wrapped books. The place itself is smaller so it was hard to walk around with so many people but the staff are so kind and welcoming. They serve coffee and drinks in the bookstore. It's super cute inside, but you'll need to find street parking! They have places to sit inside once you get your drinks with some cozy benches.

Loved everything about this coffee shop. The baristas were nice, the atmosphere is cozy, there's plenty of indoor and outdoor tables, and the book store part has a great selection of YA books. The seasonal brown sugar and cardamom latte was delicious, and oat milk doesn't have an extra charge! The egg breakfast sandwich was also amazing.

Delicious coffee, fun ciders, booktok level books, and trivia on Friday nights! Honestly this is one of my favorite places to hang out in Hopkins! The pastries and pretzels are my favorite snacks to munch on while playing Friday night trivia on the patio. I've enjoyed browsing the books inside, especially any recommended by the staff! Would love to go for one of their book or author events next time!

SO CUTE. I am so happy I stumbled upon this little gem! A very queer, very trans affirming coffee/book shop (gender neutral language for the staff, please!). I got the maple vanilla latte with oat milk (iced) and it was delicious- creamy, smooth, yummy, chilled, so so good. My partner got a refreshing iced jasmine green tea. I think they have 90% of the books on my "want to read" list and I seriously almost walked away with several. Had to go with a cute queer bookmark instead, since we're just visiting (and I didn't leave enough book room in my luggage!) We will most definitely be back if we're back in MN soon!

Cute, cozy shop that offers hot beverages as well as books and other small trinkets for sale. The back room is all tables and it was hopping on a Wed mid-morning. They also had room with some larger tables. While it was a chilly fall day, I thought I also saw a patio for outdoor seating but all were staying inside to keep warm. I ordered a chamomile tea. It was served with loose leaf tea. Quite tasty. I met a colleague here and the tables were full so we sat at the bar which was still a good place to connect. Loved perusing the books. Saw one recommended that I just read and loved, The Wedding People. The staff was helpful. On street parking. Fun area being on main street Hopkins.

    A great assortment of books

Comma is a retail bookstore in Minneapolis occupying a footprint of, I don't know, maybe 800 square…read morefeet. While the local narrative often emphasizes the importance of supporting independent shops, my recent visit suggests that this ideal may come at a significant cost to the consumer in terms of utility, comfort, and value. Logistics and Facilities The physical experience of visiting Comma is just abrasive. Parking in the immediate vicinity is difficult, which sets a frustrating tone before one even enters the building. Once inside, the limitations of the tiny floorspace become apparent. The selection is, by necessity, terribly limited. If you are searching for a specific title or a deep dive into a particular genre, this is statistically the last place you should look. Furthermore, the store offers no public restroom, a lack of basic facility that limits the duration and comfort of any visit. Atmosphere and Price The retail environment lacks any auditory masking. There is no background music, resulting in a deafening silence that feels more awkward than contemplative. Every book in the inventory is sold at full retail price. This raises a fundamental question regarding the "buy local" movement: what is the point of a business that offers less selection and higher prices than its competitors? We often speak of a duty to support small bookstores, but we must ask if that duty outweighs the consumer's right to find what they need at a competitive price. Service and Philosophy During my visit, I purchased several books at full price, yet the employee on duty was rude. This interaction highlights the core issue: a business is a business, regardless of its size. If a shop cannot provide a pleasant environment, a robust inventory, or even basic courtesy, its status as "local" should not exempt it from criticism. Conclusion The romanticized ideal of the small neighborhood bookstore needs to be re-examined when the reality is a lack of selection and poor service. I am officially putting a "comma" on my support of this specific model of local commerce. I spent my money here this time, but I will not be returning to this particular business. Ever. Consider that a "period." For those who prioritize finding the books they actually want without unnecessary hurdles, there are better options available.
