He came in and measured, suggested we install over the existing tile, and told me he would have the estimate to me by noon the next day. Noon came, no estimate. Then he said it would be the end of the day. End of the day came, no estimate. Then he said it would be the next day. Next day ended, no estimate. Same the next day. Finally got our estimate. I asked if we could schedule work. He said he was on vacation but would get back to me within a week with a scheduled date. End of the week came, no scheduled date. Then he said he would let me know by Monday. Monday came, no scheduled date. Then he went on about how they can't schedule a solid date because of unforeseen events and because the contractors they use don't actually know when they can do the project until four days prior. But for about three weeks I was told "about two weeks". My daughter and I are disabled. We needed to make sure we were not in the house during installation, which meant I had to request time off work and we had to make plans. Which you obviously can't do if you have no solid date. This went on for weeks with him not being communicative or keeping any of his word, ever. Not one thing he said would happen actually happened. Finally get a date, but I'm told that it's not solid (even though it's literally in the contract). I told him about our unique situation, and his response was, "It really won't be that big of a deal. It should not inconvenience you." Which is not how you respond to a disabled person explaining their disabilities. The day comes. The installer tells us we need to avoid the room (which is our living room) for about three days because of the fumes. I was not told this ahead of time and this is pertinent as it relates directly to our disabilities. I inquired with Tony. His response? "I don't know much about tile installations." I told him this has nothing to do with carpet being installed over tile, it has to do with the adhesive being used. His response? "I know." Then why was the tile comment a relevant response to my concern? Carpet gets installed. Then, one or two days later, it lifts. All the edges came right up. It's as if they cut the carpet in the shape of the room and just set it down. It is not tacked down on any edge. Tony's response? "Oh it's a tile installation. Those are harder." Regardless the carpet should not be lifting. At this point I'd asked to speak with the owner repeatedly and Tony mostly ignored my request. He said he would send someone out that day to fix it. I followed up three hours later. "Oh it won't actually be today, sorry." I'd had it. I told him it needs to be today as this is now a safety issue for my daughter, and I demanded to speak with the owner again (with still no acknowledgment of that request). Installers came late that day. Tony said it would take them an hour. After 2 1/2 hours, it was 10pm and they finally finished. But they openly stated they didn't move the couch or fix the area behind the couch. And the carpet started lifting again the next morning. The owner finally called me. He came and walked the project. He saw the issues. He came and brought someone to fix them himself. They stapled all the edges down. I still had to pay full price for all of this. Cost over $3,000, and that does not feel like a fair price for the quality of work I received. I have no confidence the carpet will stay down over time. Guess we will see. Work with another company. I've done enough home projects and flooring projects to know this is not how it should go on any level.

BEWARE. DO NOT HIRE! Our upstairs laundry room overflowed…read moreand flooded in Feb 2025. Our original flooring had been discontinued and we'd worked with several companies to find a similar style. After weeks of searching, we reached out to Trent's Carpet Cleaning & Restoration. He found the exact flooring we wanted and said he could start right away. We also opted to have Trent's replace carpet in areas insurance didn't cover. He said the flooring would have a lifetime warranty and would not chip or scratch. He promptly took a $10,000 deposit, only to later tell us we couldn't get the flooring we picked. We ended up reluctantly agreeing to a different floor Trent suggested. From day 1, we had issues. He positions his company as a family business operating with integrity, but I would challenge that. Trent never visited the job once work began and did not manage the project. I had to act as liaison between him and his workers. The days and times they showed up were never consistent and rarely communicated. Throughout the process, Trent tried to cut corners -- despite insurance covering the cost. Workers would show up unannounced, and Trent would call expecting us to pick up and move everything for them. With 3 young kids (including a newborn), this is not realistic. Not to mention, insurance covered moving as an exact line item. Trent also tried to re-use broken shoe molding and quarter round instead of replacing -- again, items specifically covered by insurance. Several damaged pieces of flooring were installed and they were clearly frustrated when we asked for them to be replaced. We had to constantly inspect the work and confirm items were being addressed. By the time the job was "done", we just wanted them out of our house. When it came time to pay the balance, Trent collected nearly $5,000 in additional "overhead and profit." He came to pick up the check without doing a walk through, asking for feedback, or thanking us. Right away, the flooring started chipping from the smallest things -- a Norwex mop, a small plastic toy, etc. We emailed Trent on Nov 4, which he never responded to. Shortly after, we noticed water around the downstairs toilet. A plumber told us the wax ring was not replaced when the toilet was reinstalled after the floor work. Ironically, Trent had a plumber connect and disconnect our water softener, but didn't use one for the toilet. On Nov 21, I reached out again. After several follow ups, he finally came out Dec 9. Trent acknowledged the chipping and the water damage, though stated several times they always replace the wax ring. He said he'd file a warranty claim for the chipping but couldn't return until the New Year to replace the water damaged flooring. I followed up Jan 6, Jan 23, Feb 9, Feb 16, Feb 20, and Feb 23. Trent said he was waiting on the warranty decision before addressing the bathroom floors. Despite multiple follow ups, there was no decision. On Feb 23, Trent sent workers to do the repair with zero guidance and no replacement flooring. I contacted the manufacturer, who confirmed Trent had never filed a warranty claim. When I asked if I could file it myself, I was told it had to go through Trent -- who clearly does not take care of his customers. It is now Mar 30. Our water damaged floors have not been replaced, the $200 plumber bill has not been reimbursed, and nobody has contacted us about a warranty claim.

The gentleman who helped us, looked at the part and went back to the stockroom to see if he could find one. And when he could not, he instead removed that same part from the floor display of one of his own water softeners. He said he would then just contact the manufacturer and get a replacement for himself later. But he made sure that we were taken care of. And the price was a whopping $3.62. In addition, he was an absolute pleasure to work with. This was my first time shopping at Economy Plumbing Supply today, and I am so grateful for this experience, that I'm going out of my way to make sure that I say thank you, and also give a heartfelt recommendation to them. In addition, I'd also like to thank the very nice woman who offered us coffee and donuts while we were there! In short, this man took my $2000 deposit, and over nearly two years (pre-COVID), failed to complete a single task in the contract. I asked for my money back and sent a demand letter. Dave gave excuses such as other jobs running over, personal injuries/limitations, family health issues, etc. He complained about how many times he had to come to my house to talk about the plans. While I admit that I did have an evolving vision that sometimes needed a face to face discussion, most of his trips were for his benefit, not mine (e.g., had to re-measure several times and even asked me to take measures to send). He stated that his right to keep the deposit was based on work already done. I never saw anything done. He also tried to withhold some of my items as "collateral" and in legal terms, that's called theft. I eventually had to make a trip to his workshop to pick up my property. I cannot speak to the quality of Dave's work, but I can share with you that he took advantage of someone in a state of grieving. I felt bad for each of his reasons as to why he couldn't finish the project because I was in a fragile state. In hindsight, I was manipulated. Dave may respond to this with unsubstantiated excuses. Near the end of my correspondence wit Dave, he sent me a final invoice that was $4000 over my quoted price stating that the job had caused him extra work and travel that was not anticipate. Again, I share with you that he NEVER DID ANYTHING in my house. Please choose a different carpenter to save yourself some time and money, and some very likely heartache.

The estimate was less than I expected...and..he showed up the next day to pick up the items....and....get this....ON TIME ! definitely something wrong with him....really....what contractor shows up on time ?? most have graduated summa cum laude from the Comcast school of rank non-professionalism. He is also going to build some custom cabinets to show off my beer coaster and matchbook collection.
