The whole process with Brothers was great. The install was difficult to say the least with so much prep work needed to make the floors even. Everyone we worked with was pleasant and professional. I was thinking about trying to install luxury vinyl plank flooring myself in my new 3 season room, and even watched some You Tube videos...but then kept thinking about how this would likely be a whole weekend project with the usual repeat trips to buy more supplies after realizing I need something else or I messed up enough material that I need to buy more...I was driving home from Costco and spotted the sign for Brothers along Michigan Road...I took this as a "sign" as somehow I hadn't ever noticed them before even though it turned out they've been in this location since September! Online reviews looked good, and they've been around in Indy for a long time, and are a family owned business which I always like. The whole process couldn't have been easier. I put in a request for a quote online and received a phone call and email back quickly. They did carry products that would work with my room, so I stopped by to pick up some samples to take home. They were incredibly helpful in assisting me in narrowing down the options to 4 colors to start with. It really did help to see the samples in my room to see how the different colors looked in the light at different times of day. The online tool that shows each color in a photo of your room is great too! I picked a color and someone was out to measure the next day. I had my free estimate within hours and it was very reasonable. Installation was done the next week and they were done in 3 hours vs. my estimated whole weekend. They put a felt layer under the vinyl plank which was nice and they did a great job with the molding around the floor as well. It looks great and I has now been in use for a month and a half and has done well in hot and cold temperatures and is indeed waterproof! Everyone was great to work with and I'm loving my new floor! I bought a house sight unseen and coming from out of state. The previous owner had 20 + cats in the house. My home inspector did not bother to say anything. We arrived at the house after driving 2400 plus miles and almost threw up. The smell was all over and was probably saturated into the hardwood flooring. We called around and had a hard time getting people to come and even give us a quote. I highly recommend this family owned flooring company in Indianapolis. In June 2019 they put a cushy sheet vinyl in my kitchen and it was an amazing transformation! Yesterday I had new flooring put in my bathroom. Beautiful! It's a vinyl that is cork backed. I asked for something they had in their warehouse (saves money) and they came up with Coretec Plus flooring. The installer was professional and a hard worker. He answered my questions and asked my preference on details. The results are stunning. I'm providing before and after pics of the bathroom. Nobody stands behind their product like Brothers. Between myself and my family we've had about 10 jobs done by Brothers. The mark of a good organization is what they do when something goes wrong. We had that on one of the jobs, and it really wasn't the fault of Brothers but they immediately remediated it. I won't go into all the details but I can't think of another store who would have done what they did. I first worked with Greg and Chuck on a flooring quote in 2011. While we were pleased with that experience, we ultimately decided to move forward with a different project and push the flooring back to another time. Fast-forward some years later and we decided to move out-of-state and sell our house quite suddenly. Needing to make decisions and move quickly, my first thought was to visit a large home improvement store nearby. I'll never get those 30 minutes of my life back. Why I didn't immediately think of Brothers is beyond me, but I'm glad it didn't take me very long to remember the great experience I had with them several years earlier. Greg listened to what was a similar project as before, but had some different goals in order to sell quickly. He has a straightforward style and way of doing business. While this might not work as well for those needing a softer approach, I appreciated his honesty and decisiveness. He was instrumental in determining what would be appropriate quality levels of materials (I didn't want cheap as it needed to be up to my standards, but also didn't want to spend a bunch of extra money I wouldn't see back in the sale). He was also quite helpful in selecting colors/patterns that would appeal to a broad audience, but would also fit with the rest of the home and not be boring. Greg even suggested some wood he was running special pricing on because he didn't have enough for a larger project, but enough for what we needed for my space! Quote came quickly as well as subsequent follow-ups and adjustments to statement of work. I appreciated their ability to work with me on scheduling, knowing I wanted to get it on the market ASAP. Hardwood installation was the only area where my experience wasn't A+. The installers were friendly and worked quickly and efficiently, but there were several instances of walls getting dinged and scuffed as they nailed pieces in place. This wasn't a huge issue and I don't believe I even notified Brothers of it. Hardwood took two days to complete and carpet went in on the third day. Everything looked amazing and potential buyers were very impressed. My realtor commented on how well the materials fit with the house, the quality of the work, and the value we received. After 25 years, we were far beyond needing new carpeting. First let me tell you the beginning of our story so you can understand the more than happy ending with Brothers Floor Covering: We started our search for new carpeting with the big box stores. At one of the big box stores, we found the color and type of carpeting we wanted and paid for an estimator to measure what we needed. What we got for that was a house plan reversed from what we'd given and a price that included $75 per piece of furniture they needed to move (some of which I could have moved on my own). When we told the lady who called with the price that the sales person said our quoted price included moving furniture --as well as that was what was advertised, she would not budge, saying it is store policy to charge (and there was NO negotiation on that point). When we would not sign off on the reversed plan, we were told WE needed to measure each room with the right plan and were given very specific instructions we were to follow. Uhmmm. What did we pay Big Box for? But we measured, emailed our results, and a short time later received a reply with a request that we approve "our" measurements and floor plan. That was not going to happen, so we started a search for a company that we could trust. A browser search turned up Brothers Floor Covering, Inc. We stopped in at their store with a sample of the Big Box Store carpeting we liked. Not only was Greg able to find the crossover brand name for the exact carpet, he never once pressured us with an attempted up-sell (although he said what we'd selected was a good choice). He listened to what we wanted, counseled us with facts about carpet and pad choices... and even came out to our home to do the measurements, himself. Oh... and all this for under less cost than the big box store price!! Better carpet. Better service. Local, family owned business vs corporate-owned business that seems to shun personal care. Choosing to do business with Brothers Flor Covering was an easy choice. And then came the install.... what professionals these men are. Were there a few scratches on the floor moulding in one of the rooms with fairly fresh paint? Yes. But unavoidable and easy to fix. I'll put up with that any day for the installation pros Brothers hire. My husband and I recently purchased a home with Johnson Hickory Hand-scraped flooring which had previously been installed by Brothers Flooring. The floors looked gorgeous, however, there were numerous popping spots derived from the installation process. The former owner left us the name of the company she purchased the flooring from, Brothers, and a contact, Greg Hill. Mr. Hill was extremely helpful with our situation and went out of his way to help us. The installer, who is no longer used by Brothers, was completely in the wrong and was not helpful at all but Mr. Hill was the complete opposite. He stood by the purchase made through his store and was always willing to take our calls--which were numerous! If you need special attention to your home's flooring, this is the company to use. As an added bonus, Dwaine Ditzenberger, a different installer Brothers employed to come and fix our issues, was knowledgeable, quick, and courteous. read more
