We decided to re-sod our backyard and looked to the internet and friends for some recommendations. Miller Grass came recommended by both so we made the call. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable when I spoke with them to compare the two types of St. Augustine they offer. We ended up getting a mix of both Palmetto and Raleigh: mostly Raleigh but a bit of Palmetto since one part (about 300sqft) of our yard gets very, very little sun between our privacy fence and tree cover. Delivery was as scheduled, quick, and the delivery man offered tips for laying the sod and watering schedule. Very nice touch! We had our sod delivered on 5/6/20 and, y'all, it looks AMAZING! I definitely recommend this company if you're looking for sod. We are very pleased with this company and the outcome. Laying sod is not something I want to do again (back pain, anyone?) so I am so happy his looks as beautiful as does! Not a brown spot to be found in our backyard! read more

Simply put, they're the best. I've been buying sod from Miller's not just for years, but for a couple of decades!! I'm a landlord and homeowner, they've always had the best quality. I've also had to locate pallets of PERFECT GRASS for advertising photo shoots and they have never let me down, even in the off season. I have been a long time customer. They are knowledgeable and have FRESH high quality sod. They answer most questions over the phone. They can only sell what is ready at the farm and they often sell out on a daily basis - so get there first. This is a good thing in reality because you don't want dried out sod. read more

I had a small one pallet job of Raleigh St Augustine. Price was comparable to others in the area. The quality of the grass though was exceptional. Big leafs, bright green and healthy. This was about 3 months ago and it's growing wonderfully. But the reason I wanted to write this review, was not about that. I told them I couldn't possibly install this myself. They said they'd get in touch with people that could help me and that they would give me a call. And they did. All within one day, delivered and installed by the most wonderful hard working people I've met in quite some time. They even spread a 40 bags of dirt that I had bought. Pretty good place to buy grass/sod. My tip is to arrive early in the morning because they can sell out. Also, late in the afternoon if you get the remainders they are all pressed and dried out. Prices are reasonable. I am a small buyer, not big quantity, but the people are helpful. read more

I am resubmitting this review from fall 2013. I was informed by Yelp that my first submission contained promotion. I have removed that. I also want to respond to the owner that his attempts to contact me are false. I never received phone calls or messages from him. Also, his claims regarding signage and website facts no doubt were fixed subsequent to my review. My feelings about our experience has not changed in 11/2 years. Revised review: We are new to Dallas and are landscaping our back yard. I had GREAT hopes for Miller Grass after I Googled for sod and found them. I was impressed that they were family owned and had been in business for so many years. I checked out their website and made note of their hours and services offered. Their hours listed on the site were 7 am to 4 pm Monday thru Saturday (They have since changed their Sat. hours on the website since I called and left a voice mail message complaint). We only needed sod for a small 17 yard area and they site said that you didn't have to order in advance. So, on a rainy Saturday and driving in heavy construction on I-35 E we drove 17 miles to pick up the sod. Needless to say, when we got there around 1:30 pm they were closed, much to our dismay. And their sign in the window for Sat. hours said Open 7 am; Close - CALL. WHAT!!?? It did not match what was on their website. In addition, the sign said you must call ahead a day for orders. So much for customer service. But, on top of that, I called the number in the window and received a voice mail and explained our situation. Now here it is 4 days later and no return phone call! No customer service, no explanation, no apology. I suppose they must have taken heed, however, because now their website says that Saturday hours are 7am until we sell out, rather than a close time. Hmmm. I wonder what the door says? Finally, there was a huge FULL palate of sod in front of the building on Saturday. There are plenty of other grass companies and nurseries in the Dallas area to buy sod. So, check around. I don't take kindly to poor customer service, and a waste of an hour of my lifetime which I will never get back...Miller Grass Company! read more

I love Miller's and I've been using them for years. I'm a homeowner, not a landscaping contractor, and they treat me just the same. Their setup is quick and simple: pull up in a lane, pay at the window, then pull through to the load-in area. Always good quality grass at competitive prices. Nice folks. As other reviews mention, it's better to come early because they can and do sell out by the afternoon sometimes. To be expected with a place as good as this. read more

On Saturday, I had put in an order over the phone for one pallet of Zoysia, Palisades for delivery on the next Saturday. I was advised at that time that Miller needed to receive payment for this order in advance of its delivery. Accordingly, I put a written confirmation containing a check in the quoted amount into the mail on Tuesday. On Friday Miller called, advising me that they had not received payment and would not deliver the requested Zoysia, Palisades pallet as planned. Even after I told Miller that I had mailed the check on Tuesday, Miller stated that this was not enough. I then went on to cancel my order. Needless to say, I am very disappointed that Miller did not take my word. Similarly, I will refrain from ever doing business with Miller again. read more

Incredibly rude staff. Do yourself a favor and go to A & W Turf on Walnut instead. Went there after being rudely spoken to by a male employee at Miller. A & W was much nicer than Miller and had better pricing on the same grass. Have already handed out several A & W business cards to fellow neighbors and warning them all about rude employees and high prices at Miller. Pays to be nice to folks! read more

We purchased a pallet of sod which was healthy and hearty! The service was excellent, they were knowledgable, informative and on time. I highly recommend Millers especially to people who appreciate business owners that care about the customer's experience. We have had sod delivered to our house a few times and I love the quality of the sod as well as the customer service during the ordering process and upon delivery. We are rather novice sod layers and they have always been very patient and knowledgeable in answering all of our questions. If you lay the sod the day that you receive it, you will likely be laying it less than 24 hours after it was harvested. Our was in great condition and very moist. Also great to note, we've ordered sod from them three times and the quality has been consistent every time. Unlike Lee, I have not had any customer service issues. I would always recommend calling ahead and calling early though! We have called before and they have been out of sod for the day. read more

I purchased a half pallet of St. Augustine sod from here and had a great experience! I called the day before and placed my order. Upon arrival, I handed my receipt to the clerk, pulled around the corner of the building, and my truck was loaded in five minutes. On the 28th of october I bought 80 ton of bermuda grass. After putting it down I realized the rest of the yard looked really bad called them on the first. I said I need the same order. He said we don't store orders I said ok I need 80 ton of grass . He said ok came out with a number I said fine. When I got to the house that afternoon it was st. augustine. Well no biggie I will pay them to deliver the right grass and pick up the wrong grass. I called the next morning he said that was impossible . I said look I never said what kind of grass and you didn't ask. Then he said I should have noticed that it cost more..... wait a minute yesterday you told me you don't keep tickets know your telling me what I spent. Long story short after much arguing I get a pallet of grass shoved up my ass. They said they could deliver bermuda and pick up the st. Augustine but they would have to charge me a disposal fee. read more

Their St. Augustin sod was pretty good but their advice was even better. We planted three pallets of sod last November and December. Everyone else told us to rototill and everyone else said that we were planting too late but Miller Grass told us to scrape the ground and soak the sod after it was placed. Our sod is now growing great. Their price also seemed unbeatable and their delivery was reliable. read more

This was a good grass shop when the father ran it years ago. Now that the transition has been made to the son, he just doesn't seem to appreciate the customers... especially the long-time customers. If you have a concern, he'll hide behind the "no guarantee" whatsoever on his product. Make sure you don't get any of the top pallet pieces or they will die. I wouldn't mind paying their very high priced sod prices, but the attitude of the younger Miller doesn't justify the extra. read more

I'm looking at my second planting of sod right now, and it's beautiful! After I posted last time, I found out that Miller doesn't do installs, they just sell the grass. But they gave me a name for landscaping and he was great- Gary at Whiterock Landscaping. Very pleased with the landscaping and the sod from Miller is superior again this year. read more
