I just left this store about 40 mins ago walked in spoke to the young lady even tho she didn't greet me like the other staff always do I said good morning anyways she ignored me I'm guessing or I thought she didn't here me I said it again.. she looks up from her phone and rudely says I said HELLO!! Roll her eyes.. I say ok I'm sorry if I upset you she started talking loudly "Naw you ain't have to shit to me and I ain't for none of this shit today...." My overall review falls at 2.5 but since half stars aren't possible I wound up moving it to 3. They still have a lot of work to do to get the store up to par. However they are good for getting one or two items in a pinch when I don't feel like venturing to Portage, Hobart, Lake Station, or Merrillville. Positives: They fixed their outdoor sign to stand up straight which was previously ready to fall off. They've added a few organic selections to their mix. They finally opened outside gate to allow folks to take their carts to their car. Personal positive is their close proximity to my neighborhood. Negatives: Their produce section is lacking and at times they run out of certain produce. There were some items that we were told they'd restock which never got restocked. Some of their prices tend to be higher than average. Parking lot is a big flood zone when it rains (though in their defense so is half of NWI). Check out lines tend to be slow (less chatting with co-workers, more price ringing). With the nearby Walgreens closing 06/27 Miller K is the main grocer in the Miller Beach area keeping the area from being a "food desert". Hopefully their selection of items improve...case in point, last visit I needed red potatoes and broccoli but they had neither in stock. B E W A R E This store needs to be shutdown indefinitely! They're selling outdated & spoiled foods! I found this out the hard way! I purchased a case of frozen aunt bessie's rib tips 4 days before deciding prep the meat to Bbq for my daughters 8th birthday and once took them out of the box and plastic wrapping I could smell a stench and the meat was discolored and freezer burnt! I called to inform them that I purchased spoiled meat and the woman told me to bring it back and that she'd put my info in their book. I put it in several Walmart bags and a garbage bag to return it only to have the manager tell me that he wouldn't take it back for exchange or refund me! I was upset and I told him that I was definitely gonna write a review on this and he didn't care! I've had a couple instances with produce as well as boxed items! They don't care what they're selling to their customers as long as they make a buck! Now I see why all their employees brought their lunch to work! They know better than to eat anything from that place! I've heard stories of them adding food coloring and mixing spoiled meat with fresher meat but now I know for a fact that they don't care about what they're selling to their customers! DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PLACE !!!! This has to stop!!!! They don't eat the food that they sell and I'm sure they won't feed it to their families! It's sad because there isn't another grocery store in the Miller area or close by so families with limited/no transportation are almost forced to shop there! I'd rather feed my family McDonald's than anything from there! We have to take a stand to make these stores accountable for providing fresh foods to us! I wish I could rate Miller K less than four stars. This place is horrible! Out-of-date canned food. Old produce past its prime. Old, spoiled meat. Store has a 'strange' odor. The ONLY store in the area & they take advantage of customers with their overpriced, out-of-date items. Avoid at all cost. If possible, shop and spend your money at other stores (Town & Country, Strack's, Meijer, Walmart, Aldi) located in Portage, Lake Station, Merrillville and other nearby areas. read more

Very overpriced. I can't ever get what I want so after one trip to Wal-Mart I'll spend gas money to portage for less expensive products and far better service. The cashiers talk more than working.
