I came across Hueter's Greenhouse on social media and was immediately captivated by the photos…read more When a beautiful Saturday rolled around and I had zero plans, the decision made itself -- Hueter's was the destination. Getting there was super easy. GPS took me right to the entrance, and parking was plentiful and clearly marked just off the road. From the moment I arrived, it was obvious this place takes pride in its space -- the property is beautifully manicured, and everything is well laid out and easy to navigate. But let's talk about the real star of the show: The Conservatory. This is where Hueter's completely won me over. The Conservatory isn't just a greenhouse -- it's an experience. A fully curated, thoughtfully designed, houseplant-lover's dream. The plant pots aren't just stacked on shelves...they're displayed on color-coordinated tables like a home décor showroom. The plants themselves are beautifully arranged, clearly priced, and paired with care instruction signs that actually make you feel confident bringing one home. I spent nearly an hour in there just wandering, taking photos, and repeatedly saying, "Oh, that's BEAUTIFUL!" to absolutely no one. The selection was fantastic -- a great mix of plants and pots -- and the pricing felt very reasonable for the quality and presentation. They were also running an Easter egg hunt inside The Conservatory, which was a fun idea...in theory. Unfortunately, I think I arrived a little too late in the day, because I looked (and looked...and looked) and didn't find a single egg. No one else around me seemed to be having any luck either. My only suggestion would be to either restock the eggs throughout the day or remove the signage once they're all found -- just so people know whether it's still an active thing or not. Overall, though? This place is a gem. Hueter's isn't just somewhere you pop in and out of -- it's somewhere you wander. It's calm, it's beautiful, and it's very easy to lose track of time (and possibly your self-control if you're a plant person like me). I'll absolutely be back. There are already a few plants from this visit sitting firmly on my "you're coming home with me next time" list... and honestly, it's only a matter of time.

The everything bagel with egg and cheese. The cheese was nice and stringy: definitely real cheese (as said from a former cheese scientist). The tansy turkey avocado was soft yet fresh. It disappeared quickly. The Calathea Club was perfect with the pickles on it. A great club sandwich. Bread is fresh and toasted. Unfortunately, gf is not available. All drinks tasty and scrumptious.

The whole atmosphere is very feminine, with lots of pink, plants, natural light, and just a really fresh, lively feel. It seems like a great spot to work for a few hours, catch up with a friend, or have a little coffee date. Maybe I'm a bit biased because my whole family is from York, although I don't live there. Growing up and visiting York, I always remember parts of the area feeling a little older and run down, so walking into Sips and seeing such a bright, modern, plant-filled space was a really nice surprise. I ordered a strawberry vanilla matcha with lavender cold foam. One thing I really liked is that they have a bunch of different flavors and can apparently turn any of them into a cold foam, which gives you a lot of options for customizing your drink. One thing to note for matcha people: this isn't the type of place where you see them whisking ceremonial matcha to order. I watched the matcha for my drink being poured from a container, so it was clearly prepared ahead of time. Not necessarily a dealbreaker, especially for a higher-volume café, but worth mentioning if the preparation of your matcha matters to you. The biggest issue was the wait. It took about 15 minutes from the time we finished ordering and paid until we had both of our drinks. They seemed to be making drinks one at a time, so my sister received her coffee first and my matcha came another three or four minutes later. I got the impression they may simply be understaffed. On the positive side, my matcha was around $7, which felt pretty inexpensive compared to what I'm used to paying. The other downside was the temperature inside. It was HOT. The AC was definitely running because I could feel cold air when I stood directly over a vent, but as soon as I moved away from it, I was sweating and pretty uncomfortable. I couldn't imagine sitting there drinking a hot coffee for very long. That said, everyone we interacted with was very pleasant, and the café itself was clean, tidy, and genuinely beautiful. I also got the impression that Sips is relatively new, so some of these things may just be growing pains while they work out the kinks. Overall, I'm rooting for them! The space has so much potential and brings something really cute and refreshing to York. Get the temperature under control and improve the turnaround time on drinks, and I think Sips could be a really great little café.
