Had a really nice dinner at Mojo BBQ and would definitely go back. I ordered the club sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. The sandwich was super juicy and packed with flavor -- the sauce and that tangy pickle taste really made it stand out. The mac and cheese was creamy and satisfying, and while the side portions are on the smaller side, it actually ended up being the perfect amount for me. Service was a highlight. The staff stayed attentive the whole time and kept checking in. Our food did take a little while to come out -- about 45 minutes -- but they were communicative and made sure we were taken care of while we waited, which made a big difference. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming with a cool blues-themed décor and light music in the background. It was dinnertime but surprisingly not busy, which made for an easy, laid-back experience. We went to Mojo's Barbeque tonight with my parents and were really looking forward to it, especially since we've had good experiences with their catering in the past. I ordered the brisket with mac and cheese, baked beans, and toast. My mom had the same, and my dad got the turkey with fries and collard greens. We also shared an order of fried pickles. The fried pickles were actually really good and probably the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the rest of the food didn't meet expectations. The brisket was quite dry, and the mac and cheese seemed like it had been sitting for a while and had hardened. The baked beans had a very strong onion flavor that made them difficult to eat, and the toast just tasted like plain bread without any garlic or seasoning. Overall, it was disappointing considering the price of the meal. I only managed a few bites of the sides and one slice of brisket. My parents ended up taking most of it home for their dog since we couldn't finish it. I've been living within 4 mins from this place for the longest and finally decided to throw a Hail Mary and try it out. My family wanted pizza, and having adapted the carnivore lifestyle, pizza is a no no right now for me. I decided to check out the menu at Mojo, where I seen burnt ends and wings. My two favorites. I ordered them and picked them up within 10 mins. The wings were the bomb, and the burnt ends were delicious too. I've gotta look into the ranch they served because it was unusually tasty also. Maybe if I go back they'll give me some recipe info, cause i pretty sure that ranch is made in house. Either way I'll definitely be back. We visited Mono BBQ on a Wednesday night around 8pm. They were super accommodating to our massive party of 20 people, and the entire staff was warm and welcoming. I ordered a vodka mojito which was really well done, and then brisket with grits and onion rings. The brisket was great, and let me tell you these guys have such a nice selection of sauces! There's really something for everyone. The onion rings were super generous and really tasty, they basically gave me half an onion. My only pitfall was the grits - I think they were too garlicky (words I've never used in that configuration as I'm usually a "you can never have too much garlic" girl) and could've been balanced out better with a little more cheese. Everyone in my group had great things to say about the food here. Also their salads are a generous size! I'd definitely go back here if I lived in Jacksonville, but visiting from out of town, it was obvious that this place is great. read more

First time to this location of Mojos and I was delighted to see that they execute just as well as their other locations. This location on University Blvd delivered all the same great standards that I order from other locations. The pulled pork quesadilla was seasoned well, cooked well and just delicious. There is a good argument to make that their onion rings are the best you'll have anywhere. I will say that the burnt ends were the best I've had. I don't know if that's because we arrived early in the day but they were fantastic. This location honors the blues and you'll see pictures and theming that matches. Really cool idea. Just a bit of constructive nitpicking here. I would have liked some fixings with the quesadilla. Lettuce, tomato maybe and I had to ask for sour cream which comes standard at other locations. I also ordered Cheerwine Zero which I know comes in a bottle but I typically get a cup with ice in it at different locations. Huge portions on the whole hog! It serves 4-6 and comes with ribs, turkey, chicken, pulled pork, sausage and 4 sides. They offered to substitute meats for extra of something else, so we substituted the sausage for extra ribs. For sides, we ordered onion rings (upcharge), corn, fries and Cole slaw. First time dining at this location as we usually dine at the one in Avondale as it is closer to home. We also enjoy the location in St. Augustine when visiting there. We were in the area and are so happy we tried this location. We arrived not too long after opening on Sunday to a bright and clean restaurant. We were told to pick any table and chose a booth. There were only a few other customers when we arrived but the restaurant was busy as we dined. Our server was fantastic, friendly and helpful, we even learned that the onion rings appetizer could be ordered as 5 or 10 which was great since we did not want to have leftovers in the car with our other appointments. My Pepsi zero was never empty and I always enjoy the offer of a to-go cup when departing! Our food was delicious and so fresh. I am a big fan of Mojo's burnt ends and these were honestly the best ones I have had. I'm not sure if it was because it was so early in the day, but they were so juicy and perfectly cooked. Tender with just the right amount of crust that was not overly burnt. My salmon salad was also amazing. I order my salmon well done and it was delicious, moist and flavorful. My husband enjoyed both his onion rings and pork quesadilla too. Highly recommend Mojo's at any of the locations mentioned, and today's visit has given us another great local option. read more

I really like the bbq here and the fact that they have a good mustard based sauce. I have had the Mojo Q Salad before with the meat combination and it was so big that I got half to go right off the bat. On this visit, I got the 2 meat combo with brisket (fatty) and turkey with Brunswick stew and green beans. The brisket and turkey were so tender and delicious. The stew had a good consistency that I like but honestly I though it as well as the beans were lacking flavor. The portions are good and the prices are on par. They do serve wine and beer although I have only been here for lunch so I haven't had any or enjoyed a happy hour here. Overall, it is sold bbq. I can definitely say that I have not had ends this good in a long time. I did put some sauce on a piece or two, but I appreciate it best on its own. We ordered the "whole hawg" platter and for our sides we chose greens, black eyed peas, baked beans, garlic cheesy grits, and an extra side of macaroni cheese. We asked the server about the live music and were told that live music only happens "once and a while. Disappointment #1. The server was less than enthusiastic about serving us and provided inadequate service by not asking us about drink refills and never asking "is everything ok" and this is one of my pet peeves when dining out. . It was early on a Saturday, so not crowded when we sat down and service was quick too. Prices were very fair for the portions and we left with lots of leftovers! We have been coming here for over 15 years now. Been awhile since our last visit but tonight confirmed Mojo is just as good as always. Good quality, same great food. My favorite is the barbecue salad with their brisket and pulled chicken. The jalapeño cornbread croutons are delish, and the chipotle ranch packs a kick. We came here on the recommendation of my daughter's boyfriend who may be their #1 fan. In fact, everything we ordered was their suggestion. (Interesting tidbit, my daughter who is NOT a bbq fan actually likes Mojo's food, so...) We started off with an appetizer of the Kansas City Burnt Ends. I've seen other people rave about that, but have never tried it myself. I'm a convert now. These were delicious. Small bowl for $11, but the quality and the taste of the meat justified it. Totally melted in your mouth tender. (Small possibility of a fork war over the last piece too...) For the actual meal, we ordered The Whole Hawg ($37, good deal to split among 4 people) which is 6 different meats (pulled pork, ribs, 1/2 chicken, turkey, sausage, brisket) and 4 small sides with toast. For the sides we chose macaroni and cheese, garlic cheddar grits, BBQ pit beans and sweet potato mash. The Meats (all served dry, thankfully): Pulled Pork - fantastic, it was juicy and tender. Ribs - very different flavor than I'm used to, but we really liked it, meat fell right off the bones. Chicken - fantastic flavor on the skin and meat. Dark meat so juicy, but sadly the breast was very dry. Turkey - oh mama, this was fabulous. (I heard they do turkeys for Thanksgiving, I need to remember that.) Sausage - very good, flavorful Brisket - hubby and I were not very impressed with it at the restaurant, but reheated the next day as leftovers it was fantastic. Lol The Sides: Macaroni & Cheese - highly recommend. Delicious, thick and cheesy. Garlic Cheddar Grits - not as thick as they should be, but ok. BBQ Pit Beans - not sweet or savory, but tangy. Interesting. Sweet Potato Mash - everyone else liked it, but I'm not a sweet potato fan, so I have no opinion. Lol I only tried two of their sauces - the Vinegar (too different for my tastes) and the Mustard (WINNER!). The place was clean and smelled fantastic, the workers friendly and efficient. The manager stopped by the table to say hi and see how we were doing. The waiter was great and handled all our (weird?) questions gracefully. Great experience. First time visiting and we are glad we came in. First of all the service and our waitress Liza are just outstanding. Liza explained every single bit of information needed if you have never had Carolina style bbq. Even had me try a cherry soda which I had never seen or heard of before. The selection of sauces is awesome as well, we ended up bringing 2 of them home. Liza also convinced me to try the collard greens as I told her I had never tried any good ones. She said try these and if you don't like em I'll trade you for anything else. Wow that is what I call great Customer service. We lived in Jacksonville ten years ago and came to Mojo all the time. When we were planning to travel through town for spring break, we made a plan to stop in. Everything was just as delicious as we remembered. The food was so amazing - better than actual North Carolina BBQ we get at home. In town for the holiday weekend (4th of July) and had a taste for some bbq. Went looking online and found Moho BBQ. Still doing the social distancing so we ordered the food to be delivered; the food arrived at our hotel within 15 to 20 minutes. Our order included pulled pork, smoked wings, ribs, bacon burger, baked beans, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, collard greens. Our meal was delicious (though I personally didn't care too much for the beans). The mojo sauce was ok, but I preferred the sweet bbq sauce. I walked into Mojo's and immediately fell in love with the decor! There are different paintings, pictures, license plates and other things filling most of the wall space. Oh, and black is my favorite color! Our server was diligent and that was much appreciated. We ordered dinner during lunch just to get more food and I wish I would've stuck with the lunch portion. The brisket was just alright, it's almost disappointing to think that I've had better brisket at a Sonny's BBQ location. I enjoyed the spare ribs with or without a mix of the Mojo's and Chipotle bbq sauce. The mac and jalapeno cornbread had good flavor only if it they were fresh I'm sure it probably would've tasted better. The bbq beans and green beans were good, but not memorable. We went right before close so the food could have been average because of that or it's just an average bbq kind of place. Nothing too special were my thoughts as I was eating. The fried chicken was delicious and the gravy was paired perfectly with it though. I was pretty excited for the Mac n cheese but it was dry when I was expecting it to be a little more liquidy and cheesy. My sister and brother both got the brisket and said it was good.
