Beginning my review, I wish I had taken the time to research who Ms. Crista Haynes is as an attorney by reading her views which among them are many dissatisfied clients. If you value the dollar, Do Not hire this attorney. I seldom write reviews, but I feel it's my moral duty to inform others before they experience the same Debacle. I'm also writing this review under the protection of my First Amendment rights, "Freedom of Speech". I've read other reviews for other attorneys who have gone to the extreme of taking legal action against their clients for thier yelp reviews. We came to her for a DVRO that had been filed with no actual proof to enforce it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]During our initial consultation I should have recognized the "Red Flags", as she was very clear to let us know that she was in charge![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Her first time in court was remote and asked for a continuance, even after we were informed by her office that she was driving and unable to text but that she would be here. She stated that the petitioner had the "Burden of Proof" and that we didn't need to send her any proof we had on our part. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The next hearing we were notified late afternoon the day before court that she was sending an "appearance attorney", and expecting us to know what this meant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This other attorney doesn't even work for her law firm. She's an independant attorney currently unemployed. She came to court with just her cell phone. She was not prepared. When the judge asked the petitioner if she had received evidence from the respondent's attorney she said No. If the appearance attorney was prepared she would have told the judge that the petitioner did receieve our declaration and the reason we know this is because the assistant to Crista Haynes told me the petitioner called their office asking for a continuance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When writing to Crista Haynes, upset that she wasn't there to represent us, she had the nerve to tell me she had to pay for this attorney out of her pocket and that we were lucky she didn't charge us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Because she wasn't well prepared, because there was a conflict of personalities, because she didn't want to hear the truth, that she pushed our case to the back burner, she went into court and did not defend our case. She was very unprofessional. She should have told us up front that we should probably retain an attorney that's going to defend us. As soon as Trial ended and the Judge found for the Plaintiff, she goes back to her office and sends us a SOA "Substitution of Attorney" and they have sent us 3 attempts to get us to sign this document so they can close out our case. Instead of signing this document, I sent an email stating how unhappy we were over her unprofessionalism and her lack of effort to win the case. In her mind, it's the respondent's fault. Evidence provided by the petitioner was from June 2023 and prior to a Restraining order! We're in court in August 2025 and no evidence after June 2023 to support the plaintiff's claim. Way to go Crista. I hope my review has done it's job by causing you haste in your decision making process when hiring an attorney. I have never had to hire a lawyer before, however, I needed a family law lawyer for a situation I found myself in. I hired Crista Haynes of The Haynes Law Firm to represent me. She was professional, knowledgeable, and showed up to all my hearings. I felt like she really cared about me and my case. She represented me well in court and I got the outcome I desired. First of all, if you're involved in a Juvenile Dependency case, don't hire a lawyer, PERIOD. Don't waste money you don't have, use the court appointed ones. Any honest attorney will tell you this. Only the predatory lawyers, like Ms. Haynes, will tell you otherwise. But if you are dead set on hiring a lawyer because you think it will help you get your children back faster, DO NOT HIRE THIS WOMAN. And if she is your court appointed attorney, well...good luck to you. Ask for somebody else, if you can. I don't know how much room I have for this review, I have so much to say about the service I received from Ms. Haynes and exactly what I think about it, I could write volumes. But I'll try to make this as short as possible. In short, hiring Ms. Haynes was one of the worst decisions I've ever made. I came to her at one of the worst times of my life. I was distraught and desperately needed help, and she took advantage of that. She took every last dime I had, knowing my financial situation, and then did nothing to help my case. It's hard to know what the outcome could have been had I had a competent lawyer, but it's my opinion that her ineptitude caused my kids to be caught up in the system for 6 months rather than 6 days. At the very first hearing, our first in-person meeting, she quickly met up with me for about 2 minutes before the hearing. Instead of going over a game plan or at least hearing my side of the story, she asked me if I had read the petition and admitted the she had just quickly skimmed through it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I started telling her about all the errors in the petition, because it was total nonsense all the way through, but instead of hearing me out she abruptly cut me off and very sternly said "Everything in this petition is true."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Confused by what she said, I let her continue as she basically tried to convince me that I was guilty and that I needed to man up and take responsibility for what I did. I was shocked. Was she my attorney or the other side's? I was still processing her comment when we were called into the court room. This was the first hearing, the best chance to get my kids back quickly and end this nightmare I was living. All she had to do was object to the detention. One simple little word. And she didn't. She just nodded along, agreed to whatever the other side wanted, didn't fight for my best interests even he tiniest bit. And then she walked off to her next hearing, I wasn't able to catch up with her. I would have fired her right then and there but her staff gave me some reassurances and made me more comfortable staying. But at the second hearing, that was it. Still telling me that I was guilty, scoffing at the idea of contesting it and going to trial, all she did was come in a minute late, fiddle with her phone, and say "No objections" at that hearing, too. I caught up with her in the hall, had a bit of an argument, and decided to hire another attorney. The other attorney really wasn't worth the money and didn't really do much, either. But at least she heard me out and was prepared to fight for me. Unfortunately (and fortunately) I was never able to state my case because all of the allegations against me were dropped. Because I was innocent. Just like I told Ms. Haynes from Day 1. I did eventually get everything cleared up and was granted full custody of my kids, but it was a horrific experience that my family is still recovering from. I really don't know if we will ever fully recover. But at least it's over. 6 months of hell, irreparable harm to my family, so much pain and suffering that could have probably been prevented had Ms. Haynes just said one little word. "Objection!" I try not to dwell on it. But it does bother me that lawyers as incompetent as this one are allowed to operate. The suffering they cause is immeasurable. What really bothers me is that I never got my retainer returned to me. I have contacted the office several times and gotten no response. $3500 for 10 minutes of bad legal representation. $3500 for her to waddle into the court room twice and say "No Objection!". Worst money I have ever spent. Money that I feel I am owed back, that I'll probably never get back from these thieves. Also, if you are expecting an attorney that looks like an attorney, she is NOT the one. Her appearance was completely unprofessional both times we were in court. Purple hair, big, gaudy tattoos on her forearms and legs, clothes that are too tight and too revealing for her body weight. Fat girls in skin tight clothing is never a good idea. I would have never guessed that she was an attorney at all,.much less my attorney! Should I keep going?...okay, okay, I'll stop. read more

I hired Haynes to represent me in a Dependency case in 2023. She showed up on the day of my contested hearing and told me that morning that we were not going to proceed with a trial and that i should settle. She absolutely refused to proceed with the trial i was looking forward to. I knew something was fishy when none of my witnesses were subpoenaed. Haynes had evidence in the case file that was extremely favorable to me a (forensic interview) and she never disclosed it to me or used it to fight for me in court. I found out about it after ending the relationship with Haynes. There was also a motion submitted by the original attorney on the case to remove the social worker and all of her reports from our case due to bias, Haynes withdrew that motion without even consulting with me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After the case closed, i requested a copy of my case file via email from Haynes and she refused to give it to me. Then she emailed me that she never received it from the previous attorney.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] How did she represent me if she didn't have the case file? I contacted the previous attorney and his office confirmed that the entire case file was electronically sent to Haynes Law Firm within days of her taking over the case. Haynes flat-out lied to me. In the case file was a forensic interview that had been conducted by law enforcement and not only were the findings favorable to me, but CPS illegally failed to document the results of the forensic in any of their reports. Haynes could've subpoenaed a copy of the forensic to be used as evidence to help me prove my case but she didn't. The judge made a custody decision without knowing all of the relevant facts of this case. The forensic interview was the ONLY material evidence in THE ENTIRE case and the judge should have had access to the forensic prior to her ruling. Haynes never made any mention of the forensic to me or the courts and denied me my right to due process. Haynes did more damage than good in my case, gaslighting me telling me i had no chance to win....while there was a forensic interview in the case file the whole time! A complete waste of money. Before I start my review, let it be known that finding a lawyer when you are desperate is so scary. I had no one that could refer me to anyone. Crista doesn't return phone messages or answer emails and when her staff prepared documents for submittal to the court, they were riddled with errors and omissions. I had a very horrible case that traumatized me. My court appointed lawyer was literally laughing about it and then telling me I could not tell anyone what she says in private, or what I record her saying. I was terrified and called different lawyers. Most of them were rude but Krista was not. She had us come over to her office and pay her for her services and got to work right away. We paid her a fraction of what the other lawyers quoted us. She said there would be no more fees and she would stay until the conclusion of the case. The case dragged on and on and she stuck to her word. She is very calm and well spoken in court, and the judge respected her. She was calming to me as I haven't had a situation like this before and was scared. She told me when I should say nothing and when it was right to speak. My girls are safe.
