I love Miliken's soccer dome and could recall back in the day when wished I could sleep in it…read morebecause it reminded me of a giant tent! A lot of people have the WowFactor when they walk in because it's huge! Entering in the main blue doors, there is a mini area where the vending machines, offices, changerooms and washrooms are before you enter the revolving doors and into the dome. There are two individual washrooms here - they usually do a pretty good job of cleaning these up because a lot of kids use these and kids seem to have a difficult time using washrooms sometimes. It used to be a little unclear for people, but please push the door to the right because when one person pushes the door to the left, the dome will begin to deflate and also, the correct direction of the door will become stuck. Inside the dome, it's fake grass so it works year-round and it's equipped with two large nets and four mini nets for younger children. There are soccer balls available and is used with the City of Markham and Unionville Milliken Soccer programs. Many other people who rent the dome will need to bring their own soccer balls.

I play indoor soccer here every Sunday during the winter in the UMSC men's recreational league…read more You can also reserve this field for various events by calling the UMSC club house. This soccer dome is pretty standard - 4 change rooms, plenty of bleachers to spectate, and 2 benches for the teams to sit on. The net are miniature compared to outdoor, but that's expected. The ceiling is pretty high (higher than Mt. Joy), and so the ball rarely goes out of bounds in this manner. The field is a good size and allows for a nice game of 7v7. The only negative about this place is the parking. There are very few parking spots in their parking lot - probably only enough for 1 team's cars; however, there's a McDonald's parking lot right across that has plenty of space.

Anyone looking for some sand action, here's your fix. Beach Blast offers Friday night and Sunday…read moreafternoon drop ins. I've been to the Friday night drop in ($17, from 9pm - 1am) a few times now and actually quite liked it as compared to the other indoor volleyball courts in Toronto. HUGE area with super cool post industrial/factory "decor" from the previous operation. A little challenging to get up there if you don't have a car, walking up a dark street from the bus stop..is not for the faint of heart. Getting home from there at night via TTC is another challenge. Best advice: carpool/ taxi, or go for their Sunday (DAY ITME) drop-ins Liked that it's not too cold inside since it wouldn't be nice to freeze the moment you stopped playing/ waiting for the next game. It's usually not too busy when I was there, so it's awesome not to be sitting around and wait. I find that people that play there are friendlier as well. Good mix of people playing 2's, 4's and 6's. Not too hard to find a partner/team if you go alone. Here's how it works when I was there, Winner stay, loser out. You find a partner/team and go to the court you want to play in, call the next game and play the winner. If there's a lineup, then usually peeps would agree on maximum 3 wins per team consecutively. Sometimes there's a flipping score broad laying around, it will be great if you can ask someone along the side to keep score. If not, just keep score and call out every time one serve. Yes, yes, it's just a game, why take it so seriously? Well, nothing is more annoying for people who are called the next game just to found out that NOBODY were keeping score. There are lots of space and showers in the washroom. Go through a maze and then you will find the ladies washroom. A little sign/direction where the washroom is will be much appreciated for the first timers. Beach Blast also offers leagues, clinics and tournaments of which I have never been, but heard good things about. If it's not for the location, I most likely will sign up for more activities at Beach Blast.

Beach Blast is worth a shot if you're looking to get your beach volleyball fix…read more Pros: Lots of courts (including outdoor) Cons: Poor ventilation (leads to very hot temperatures inside) I came here for a tournament on a Monday night. First thing I noticed as soon as I walked in was how hot and humid it was. This places doesn't have very good ventilation at all. There were 16 teams at this tournament so there were a lot of bodies inside which made it worse. It was a hot day temperature wise outside but it was like heaven compared to inside the venue. They need to do something about that. Other than the heat problem, Beach Blast is otherwise not a bad place to play. There are a good number of courts available. They even have some courts dedicated to beach dodge ball. Outside, there are another set of courts available (why weren't we playing there?) as well. There's a little bar at the front that serves cold drinks. I was not able to located a water fountain of any sort so bring your own water unless you're willing to pay for it. Something to note, if you come in the evening, it's very dark when you l;eave as the lighting in the area is not good at all. It's located in an industrial area so plan accordingly, specially if you don't drive. All in all, Beach Blast is pretty much like all the other indoor volleyball courts I've been to. It's not going to wow you at any point but you'll have a great time nonetheless.

At least when it comes to Trampoline! It's been a while since I bounced here but I did for two years. They have summer adult drop in classes and if you want to bounce at other times, you'll have to join a class for a season. You will regularly rub shoulders with Olympic medalists who are all really nice and friendly. The trampolines are all in-ground which is great, and in great condition, since the owner makes most of the tramps that are used in Canada as far as I know. This place is great for both kids and adults!

I have often gained many tips and tricks from other bouncers while training there and its always fun to see different traveling teams from Europe pass by and train too. Cons: Some of these are cons for me, but might not be for you, so just a heads up. They only have drop in sessions during the summer and during the winter its class only. During the drop in sessions I find 1/5 coaches helpful, and learn more from other bouncers then the trainers. That said, there are actually 2 or 3 really amazing coaches that have done wonders working with me and I still think this is a 4/5 star place.

The parking lot is enough to accommodate those taking classes at the centre and for those who want to vote. I like how the pedestrian crossing is clearly marked and there aren't crazy folks driving in at ridiculously high speeds. When I first visited the advance polling station over a decade ago, we were in a small room off to the right. It is now a registration counter for the centre, which is nice and inviting. Back then, I was dealing with a person who was disorganized and could not find my name. It was funny that I suggested that she order her voter lists numerically. Yes, they were printed on reams of paper, likely killing many trees in the process. I found my name on the list for her. It was a turning point for me. A small voice in my head quietly said, "I can do that job." I ended up being a Deputy Returning Officer for all three levels of elections, which were great experiences. Before I voted the other night, I needed to use the women's washroom. Driving from Mississauga to this centre for over an hour while drinking a beverage will do that. It was next to the voting area. It was clean and nicely stocked. The poll was held in a small gym. Perfect! Everything went smoothly. Gone were the paper voter lists. Everything was on a laptop. Ah, advancements at an advance poll! After I had voted, I thanked everyone and left. As for using the community centre for classes, I signed up for a drumming course several years ago. It was to be held at this centre. However, there weren't enough folks who were interested. The course was cancelled, which was a bummer. I am still hoping to be a drummer in a band someday and play my drumset in my garage late at night, to annoy my neighbours. Here's hoping that this course will be offered soon so that I can write another review. (205)
